chrissy72w got a reaction from JennOnHerWay in Not sure what I'm doing wrong...
I had surgery on August 5th and I'm only down 10 lbs. scale hasn;t moved in a week. I'm eating so little, it's frustrating. But I'm going to start walking more this weekend, even though I have no energy.

I was at the amusement park with my family and needed a wheel chair to get around. My right knee had been replaced two times and I was going to end up being a cripple if I didn't do something fast. I had lost weight and regained several times and then I heard about the Sleeve surgery and knew that was the tool I needed. My starting weight was 295 lbs. and I was sleeved on 8/16/2011, I am now 133 lbs. and have been maintaining since October of 2012. I am so greatful for my tool:)

Hi all, just found this forum this morning. My surgery is Tuesday, August 5th. Excited but starting to get nervous. Thought the 2 week pre-op diet was going to kill me...thankfully it has worked out well. The first 8 days were tough but on the 9th day I got a burst of energy and clarity of mind like I haven't had in who knows how long.

If you are so hungry that the cat is starting to look appetizing, your liver is probably shrinking.
Just kidding!

Taking more pictures with my kids. I avoid the camera like a plague now. I also want to walk past a mirror and not look the other way. I want to have more energy to play with my kids. I want to fit in a concert or airplane seat without my hips being squeezed.
I want to wear all of my old clothes and dresses that I have from before my kids were born. I want to wear high heels again. I want to shop for clothes that aren't just comfy, but also pretty.

Going in tomorrow! I'm nervous and excited. I don't post very often but I want to thank everyone who does. I've been lurking and learning a lot. I've been encouraged by everyone's sharing. (I'm sorry. I tend to over-think my posts and then end up not posting.)

Hello I live in Philly. I am pre-op for a gastric sleeve. I am having my surgery at University if Pennsylvania no date yet. I have my psych eval and the last if my test on August the 14. My surgeon's assistant said I would probably have surgery in Sept. My nut/dietician stated I am doing great. I am down 10 lbs since i started my WLS preparation.

As long as you are following the diet you will be fine. Your internal organs are the first things to lose fat.

from what i understand, the fact that you're having liquids and sticking to low-fat options during the pre-op will help shrink your liver. i wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you're sticking with it and you're actually losing weight (even if only a few pounds), that in itself is helping. my surgeon said the only way she wouldn't do the surgery is if on surgery day i would've gained rather than lost. i lost only 6lbs during my 2 week pre-op diet. my sleeve was done on 6/25 and it went perfectly! hope this helps.

I've had two C-sections. I figure I was awake for both of those and they pulled out a 10lb baby each time. This should be a piece of cake. Just stay ahead of the pain with medication. But I'm so anxious. Plus this preop liquid diet is making me cranky. So with the nerves and the crankiness combined, I'm a real delight to hang out with. But this time next week I'll be on the loser's bench. I thought this day would never, ever come.

Hi Everyone! Just got back from my pre-op. No big deal- Drew blood and did an EKG and sent me in my way. To be honest, when I got my date, I was sooo excited.
Now, after having walked through the hospital, I'm getting nervous. I'm a walking Murphy's Law. In that if anything can go wrong, it will with me or worse, I'll be the lone statistic of this not working.
Don't get me wrong, I'm Not regretting my decision but walking the hospital halls made reality hit me hard and I almost had a second thought of , "is this really necessary?"
But then, as I walked out and caught a glimpse of myself in the window glass, I'm like, "yep- really necessary".

I overheard my HR Director talking to my Fiscal Director about "those poor people who let themselves go and become morbidly obese and have to do something drastic and have surgery." They didn't see me standing near them. Let me first say that these two people are the reason why my company's insurance EXCLUDES bariatric surgery so I had to wait a year and get on my husbands insurance. They said things like how the obese people need to take more responsibility for their health and they just need to exercise and watch what they eat. (Why didn't I think of that???) Neither of these two people are skinny minnies. I didn't say anything, but I felt like blasting them about it. Now everytime I walk past them, I get irritated.
So when I went to apply for my STD, I met with the assistant in the HR department (she is also a judgemental little b$%#^ ) and she asked me what surgery I was having. I am not sure why I told her. She ended up telling the other woman and now she has been treating me differently. It's a weird situation. I told my boss and a couple other coworkers and the couldn't be happier for me.
After I recover, I am looking for another job. I can't deal with these women anymore.
