  1. Hi there, been a while since I checked in! Things are going well, I had my 3 month post op appointment yesterday I am down 70 pounds, the doctor and nutritionist are very happy with my progress and say I am right on track. I was worried that the weight is coming off a bit quick, she reassured me that I am right where I need to be. I feel like a completely different person, my energy levels are off the charts, I can go from 6AM until 10PM, I am going to work, working out and currently taking a certification course at the local college. I wish I had done this years ago, I regret wasting the time I have.. I hope everyone else is doing well.

  2. Tomorrow will officially be 6 weeks, while I have lost 50 pounds and I am going to the gym every day. I am still unable to successfully say I have moved into the second phase. I can tolerate some things, ie tuna, eggs. I have tried chicken and turkey with less success, I also made a chili recipe from a bariatric cookbook, and I feel queasy after I eat that. (I used ground turkey)

Most mornings I eat cream of wheat or greek yogurt, and for lunch I mostly have Soup or broth.. Same for dinner.< /p>

    Is this relatively normal?

It feels like most stuff sits in my chest when I eat, am I still not eating slow enough? How long do you take between bites? How long do you chew?

  3. Good afternoon, I have my first follow up appt today. Knock on wood, the only issues I have had thus far is elevated blood pressure which was fixed by a medication adjustment also ever since I had my surgery my blood sugar has been pretty low, this morning it was 69 I will speak to the doc about this today. I hope you're all doing well!

  4. Our surgeons sound similar.. He was very verbal about the straws.. He also told me no gum either. His reasoning is straws are a way to take extra air in while you are swallowing, air = no good for us.

my surgeon allows Decaf coffee and decaf tea and no caffeine, carbonation, or straws! I love straws! But I quit using straws about 3 months before surgery. :)

  5. While the mindset I have on food consumption has changed greatly over the past year, I still want one last hurrah. I live on the Water and seafood is a staple. I know I am going to have to start my liver shrinking diet on January 7th, but the weekend before I think I am going to go out and order a softball sized crab cake, even if I can only get half of it down.

Do you have a last meal you are going to eat before you start your pre op?

  6. So congratulations to the 2 of you with dates! clap2.gif

I attended a seminar last Thursday night up in Rockville with Dr. Barry Green. I am left with a lot of questions even asking several myself.

I had no idea that forever you will only be able to sip liquid in 1 ounce increments every couple minutes nor that you will have to cut your food up into almost infant like size and take a bite every couple minutes as well. Are these extreme directives or will it vary from person to person?

Why do we choose lapband over bypass? As odd as this sounds I think I might be more confused than I was thursday morning.

And chimboree, maybe we will meet sometime! cool.gif
