Certainly! And with any diet, its everything in moderation kind of mentality. I have the recipe for the chili and will try to use leaner meat (ground turkey isnt bad!) And cut out what carbs and fat i can. But in the cold months (or month rather, here in tx) i do love a cup of chili!

i have a Wii fit plus, and like it well enough. I also bought the AE Sports game "Wii Active" and "Active 2". There is everything from cardio to strength training, to yoga/stretching. Talk about a bum-kicking!! It comes with a resistance band as well. Guess I will dust off the old Wii in preparation for the surgery!

Just thinking ahead, and wondering if I should look for something like the baby bullet since I will need soft/pureed food. I have a blender, but wonder if something smaller might be better. I will be with parents the week of op, but at home afterward and most likely at work. The easier and more prepared I am, the better I can do! Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks!

My surgeon is communicating with my doc to see about taking it out the same time as my sleeve is done. Am I putting myself in for a world of hurt?!?!

I hope so! I have read some on here say that the doc just pulled it out quickly and it hurt like all get out! I am not haning any of that. no sir. My doctor will have a good discussion about the drain removal with me. lol.

Yes, I have been reading about this "drain" in several forums and I am definitely going to be asking about it. Some have said the removal is AWFUL...and so I want to know all I can about it.

Fantastic! I am still learning my way around the site, but find it pretty great. You can friend me too ( click on my profile and the button wille in the top right.) that way you can find your friends pretty quick and message them directly if you need to. Keep the goal in mind and stay focused. We WILL be better in sooo many ways!

Well, hey there! I am penciled in for June 1 pending I get all my tests in and such. I'm not worried. I wish I could go tomorrow because I am sooooo ready for this.

Don't be so hard on yourself! Sounds like you had a huge disappointment in not getting to set your date. Don't let it get you so down. We all have our days...or months, in my case. Good news is, you can always start again. Go do something for yourself that will make you happy, and then resolve to do better. And keep heart! Several months from now, I will be confessing my failures on this diet adventure too. We are all in this together.

I agree with Ms Skinniness! IF you have a problem with the what ifs...then just think about the what if I donts! You are doing something GREAT for you. Hang in there. I wish I was going in, but still have 2 months to wait. ugh. You will do great!

I have other abdominal issues, and asked if they would fix them as well all at the same time. (Gallbladder removal, hiatal hernia) He said yes! and they would bill insurance for those procedures as well. This helps LOADS since I am also paying out of pocket and insurance does not cover VSG. By billing them for the other two, I get fixed of problems AND pay less for the sleeve! WOOHOO! I also wanted him to be very clear about what goes on for the fisrt week of recover and what to expect. I hate suprises of the painful kind. lol! On a personal note, I have read a lot of people on here asking about intimacy and when they can get at it again. IF you are in an active relationship, this is something to ask how your doc feels about. Some are saying wait 6 weeks, others say if you feel comfortable go for it but take it easy. Its easy! Just click on ther person's profile picture to go to their profile page. In the upper right, there are three buttons. The first button says something like, "Add as Friend" or "Send Friend Request". Just click it and the person will get a request! Easy, cheesy!

I have one child that is 6. I am having the surgery when he is out of school and with his dad for the summer. He is very observant and curious, and so I am torn about telling him. I dont want his dad to know more than having my gallbladder out, so i feel torn that I cant even tell my son because he will tell dad. Son has no filter. lol. But I need to tell him SOMETHING because he can't be running and jumping into my lap or horse playing with me for a while. I am just uncertain as to what to tell him and how much. Did anyone decide to tell their young kids and how did it go? Any divorced parents decide on how to tell their young kids? help?!

I have Golden Rule, which is through UHC. Unfortunately, they do not cover the surgery. PERIOD. However, my doc is looking at fixing my hiatal hernia and removing my gallbladder at the same time I get sleeved. The insurance WILL cover some of these costs. In the end, I will save about $3-5,000 from the initial cost of just paying for the VS surgery alone, out of pocket. WOOHOO!

I love the online forums and groups! i did this kind of thing during pregnancy, and it kept me sane. You have already taken the first step to reach out to other Texans, but also be sure to find the April 2013 Group and Forum, as well as other Groups that you fit into. We are all in this together and I cannot tell you how impressed I am with all the encouragement I read on this website from other members. Friend me, message me, or shout out whenever you need to.
