  1. I'm traveling all the way from New Zealand to Mexico. I'm not worried about the surgery so much as what can go wrong after. I can't find anyone who will insure me to go abroad and have surgery .. I know a leak is the most common problem but I plan to only have liquids till I'm safe back in nz .. Don't want to risk anything. Is there anything else to be worried about? I'm 34 yo and BMI of 30 ... So hopefully on the safe end of having surgery ... Thank you ????
  2. Thank you! I am talking w alighterme right now ... Does that dr only work in TJ? If I go alone I will prob go there buy if I bring a friend is prefer cancun as its nicer for them... Thanks again ill go have a look now! Rebecca
  3. Yes I have since googled and seen tijauana is much easier to get to - I'm still waitin to see if my friend can come. If she can it will be cancun ... If I have to go by myself it will be tijauana ... Before I found this site I NEVER would of thought to travel for this surgery by myself ... Now I think I could. It sounds so safe and they make it easy for you. Thanks for your input ????
  4. And it sounds like u didn't have to do a pre op diet?
  5. Yes I think the drs must move around because there's only 2 days then later in the month 4 days where they're available? I'm learning a few names on here but to be honest I haven't seen any "stay away from this dr" ... Yes I think as a thank you to my friend (as well as paying her ticket) cancun would be much nicer for her. Thanks ????
  6. I know! I had no problems w going to India but in the end it was much further & more expensive then Mexico. I didn't think that threw properly lol And I just read AND forwarded to my dad your experience of going to Mexico! They think I have rocks in my head for doing this let alone going to Mexico ... If you're not on this forum you just don't get it ... I'm going to stop talking to people about it - they all think I'm nuts. I'm only 30 BMI but I'm sick to death of this war - I feel like ill never win on my own ... I need a tool and this is my decision. Thanks so much for your help!!!!!! X
  7. Thanks Cindy! Ill go look her up x
  8. Thank you! I'm loving ronda - I feel like I'm a pain in the ass with all my questions about dates & drs but she's always so nice! My fried who can hopefully come works for air nz so we can get SUPER cheap flights to LA which means I have a little more to spend going to the "beachier" looking places so its nicer for her. (Yes i know i cant swim and will need to have naps and relax) she's getting leave from work so I want it to be worth her while too. But if the drs aren't as good than safety obviously is #1 .... Everyone on here went to tijauana lol
  9. Hello, I'm Rebecca and I live in New Zealand. I was thinking of going to India for mine but have since read A LOT of North Americans go to Mexico (I was born in Toronto) so I've changed my mind and going through "alighterme.com" I am going to pay for a friend to come with me but I think cancun or PV look nicer then tijauana but everyone I've heard of goes there? I want her to have a nice time while I'm in the hospital or napping once back at the hotel. It costs a little more but she's doing me a huge favour and taking time off work. Has anyone got any story's of other places in Mexico? Thank you dde0a
  10. Thank you! Still kinda finding my way around ????
  11. OMG! I'm worried about the wrinkles I may get too and I'm 35 this year! People think I'm mid 20s and I always say its my chubby baby face/fat pushing out the wrinkles hahaha ... There's always Botox I suppose ????

  13. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT! I live in New Zealand ($17000 to have the sleeve here) I'm trying to find a friend to come with me to Mexico. Tijauana seems the most popular but I may choose cancun as it will be nicer for my friend while I'm in hospital or napping all day. Anyone heard stories of places other than tijauana surgerys? Thanks again - great description of what to expect (all going well) Rebecca
  14. Wow! Thanks so much for replying - I'm going to PM you for details!
  15. Yes it's only a matter of time until the # goes up and up. Time & genes are not on my side. And I'd rather do it now when I'm less likely to have the loose skin. I'm sick of the weekly/daily battle.. Where did u have this bad lasagna?! Lol ..
  16. Thanks Stacey! Great answer as you have a reaction to metal and have had no problems - thank u so much! ... Less worried now. And I think public you probably have to be 35+ ... I'm only 30BMI . I know that's not big but I've been an amature boxer for 8 years and fit but I can only loose weight w diet pills. I stopped boxing for a year and went up to 94 kgs. My body ached allll the time it was horrible. Food runs my life. I know I not that big in compassion to some on here but I still have the same feelings. I don't want to live like this for the rest of my life.
  17. Cool! Thank you ... It may of sounded like a dumb question but those are the only things I've ever put in my body and ALL were rejected! (Except earrings in lobes) thanks again
  18. Yes! They were the self dissolving ones! They didn't dissolve quick enough and cause problems for WEEKS .
  19. Because I live here! Lol it's $17,000 I'm not big enough to go public ... And yes I mean the staples inside my stomach - titanium? I could deal w more topical problems & scars but if things happened inside I'd freak out!
  20. Lol 2 weeks! How exciting! Mine will be poss May June or July. I'm still deciding whether to have it done in Nz or overseas. The strips seemed to be fine for me luckily .. I doubt they can glue my stomach together lol ... Is this site helping you decide/feel more confident?
  21. Thanks for your reply! I even had a reaction to the tape they use to minimise scaring! I now look like the bride of Frankenstein lol ... I have to say after reading all I've read on here I'm not really nervous about the surgery as much as my body reacting to the staples... Do the stitch the holes from where the instruments go in or just a sterry strip? I've heard they're very small incisions
  22. Thanks for the play by play ... It's sounding a lot more bearable then I originally thought. I was picturing horrible pain for weeks. Thank you for posting your experience 8 )
  23. I've had 2 breast surgerys 10 years apart and both times my body rejected the stitches. The incisions would have puss and the stitches would pop through for weeks they wouldn't heal until they were all out. I feel like a trained nurse now. Also when I was younger my eyebrow ring & belly button ring pushed out ... I'm worried my body will try and reject the staples as they're a foreign object?! Is that silly to think??
  24. Thank you!! That's very thoughtful & helpful! I was worried people would think I wasn't taking it seriously if I hadn't watched a clip. I would much prefer diagrams!!! Thank you again !
  25. I do have another appointment closer to the time with him ... I'm booked in for July .. (I need to save up $17000) so I will be more thorough in the next meeting. I have seen their dietitian and going to see the psychologist in April. I'm only 30 BMI so they're not takin it lightly. If anything I'm worried after seeing the dietitian that he may back out as she thing she can help me loose 20kg. I've tried for 15 years and I'm an amature boxer and very active - so I'm doing all I can to get prepared for surgery to go ahead. It is my dream to not have food rule my life!
