  1. My partner and I both had this surgery. She July 8th 2013 and me aug 14 2013.

I did the liquid diet with her to be supportive and to practice for my own liquid diet. Also with being first, gave me the chance to have a real life coach.

I'm glad we didn't do it at the same time because we each got to help the other out. You never know how surgery is going to go so it's best if you can have that should to lean on so to speak if you need. You may need help showering or making broth or something simple that you never thought you'd need help with. (Like crushing pills, yes I couldn't work the pill crusher, I was too weak lol)

Plus, I know if we were both laying up in the hospital at the same time my stress levels would have been extremely high worrying about if she's ok etc etc.

The only downside was maybe about a 2 week period where I was on still on liquids and she was progressing to purée, wasn't a huge problem though as I had no desire to eat anything. Just that she had to feed herself...as I didn't want to see or smell food.

  2. All mine is on an Excel Worksheet with V-Look-up functionality ... and on that note' date=' I think I need to get out more! :|[/quote']

When I read the first part, I said seriously?!?! When I read the last part I almost died laughing...

    I love this forum <3

On my worst days I can come here and I always end up smiling :-)

  3. I finally made it to the DMV to renew my drivers license. Of course I could not complete my mission on my first trip due to the fact that I had to have two proofs of address' date=' birth and marraige certificates, and social security card, first born child, DNA sample--ok so maybe not the last two. Anyway I was finally off on a day that the DMV was open, so I made a second trip. When I got to the counter and provided the necessary information the lady behind the table began entering the data from the form...She paused. Looked at my old license, looked at my paper work, looked at me...."Have you lost A LOT of weight. It is not very often we get to subtract 100lbs from someones license." I nodded and grinned. I proceded to the vision test. It was time for the picture. When they took my picture my previous picture showed up on the screen with my new picture. "Oh my goodness!" She proclaimed, she then beckoned the other ladies behind the counter to come take a gander." I get rather embarassed when attention is drawn to me, but it felt so good to see the difference, and to know the even greater difference in confidence I now have.[/quote']

That's awesome!! Congrats you look great :-)

  4. Hi everyone. Joining the poop problem posts. Started my mag citrate at 6 ish tonight. Prob finished about 7:45. It's 10:38. Nothing. I have only had 1 meal of solids in the last 2 days but nothing?!?! Anyone have it take this long? Can't drink after midnight - approaching fast! Should I down another bottle?????

Same thing happened to me the night before surgery....you should read my post "magnesium citrate but no poop"

  5. I set up the stage for time off....for like a month I said casually to my coworkers that I had some discomfort in my tummy and said I need to see a doctor. Then I told them my doctor said I had a hernia and I needed to have it repaired....so when I asked for time off everyone automatically assumed it was for the hernia. My office is pretty small too, about the same as yours. No one there knows that I had the sleeve.

  6. Thank you all so much for the pep talk. My gym choices are few and far between (I'll have to drive 25 minutes to the next town) but I think I have found the perfect one for me. It says that it is a TRUELY non jugemental gym that has varying rules about harrassment. They have child care' date=' nutrition classes, and a few classes I always thought I was too fat to attempt (Zumba, kick boxing, yoga). I spoke to the manager and she was very helpful (And understanding) and offered me a free day at the gym, and a free session with a trainer before I made my decision. I'm going in today (In thier slower time) to take a tour of everything. I'm excited! I really want to do this right, I don't want to take my sleeve for granted! Thanks to everyone for your support and I will update you soon![/quote']

I'm so proud of you for making moves! I also wanted to add that the equipment at all of the gyms I've been to have lil pics of how to use the machines and what the machines are used for. So don't worry, you'll be fine. Also at this point you'll probably just going to be walking on the treadmill or doing those cycle type machines anyway. You can also look at what other people are doing on the machines you're interested in. Good luck!!

  7. I was sleeved on 8/16 and I am having a similar experience. While I agree that it is frustrating' date=' I think it is completely normal. While the big losses in the beginning are great, they do not typically continue indefinitely. Your body is healing and changing. It tries its best to hold onto weight because it hates you (really because it thinks theres a famine lurking behind every corner). If you are eating good things, drinking enough Water, and sleeping (this is my problem) the weight loss will start again. I think it is easy to get discouraged when you look at these boards and see people that have lost 250 lbs in 3 months, but you dont know their weekly breakdowns. Im pretty sure when you go to see your nutritionist she wont be worried about it, but will be excited about your total loss since surgery, I believe this is how they gauge progress. My aunt went to to the nutritionist yesterday and she has lost 19 lbs since surgery, they were proud of her. I have lost 26 lbs since surgery but keep going between 292 and 293, I dont go back to the Dr. until 10/15, irrespective of the fact that I would like to be at goal already, Im fairly confident that I will have lost additional weight by then (even if I have to resort to cutting some of it off) I will feel that I should have lost more, and the nutritionist will think that Im doing great. I think most of us have been fat for so long that we want to be skinny yesterday and thats just not how it works, unfortunately. Also I have noticed that for whatever reason my body likes to be around 295 lbs. Its not my preference, but I always get stuck right around this weight for a point when I am losing weight. It doesnt matter if I exercise, It doesnt matter if I eat 200 calories a day, I just get stuck, but eventually, if I dont give up, I get past it. You will too, and 6 mths from now youll be down 300 lbs and we wont be able to get you to stop posting risque photos[/quote']

You're right, I'm sure it'll be fine, but just incase something is wrong, I would like to correct it early out. I didn't think this was even possible...I honestly felt like an alien because I'm the only person I know (other than the people on this thread) that gains weight after having 80% of my stomach removed.

On my supervised diet, I averaged a monthly loss of 13.6 pounds....14 pounds in one month post op....there's no difference and 80% of my stomach is gone. I'm sure the stomach had to have weighed something!! So I really feel like I didn't lose anything. So I feel like something has to be wrong so I would like to correct it.

  8. OK' date=' here's the deal. You need to listen to exactly what I tell you about what to do. I have known you (hmmmm) for all of two minutes and that far exceeds any 12 year relationship..........ehhhhh! Not!! (do they still use that term)

Really? Online personal relationship advice? That's almost as bad as comparing real life to TV.......oops,

BTW........I have this gorgeous piece of slightly swampy marsh land down here near Miami, I'm looking to sell............ ;)[/quote']

    Lmao

  9. I'm asking for a family member that is also geting this done... She had smoked weed this week and lots of it and she is unsure if the insurance requires drug testing for this... Has any1 else been drug tested?

Girl stop lighting up that Mary J..oops I mean your family member lol it increases your risk for blood clots and slows down healing. Post-op it'll give you the munchies and it'll be torture for you with your lil stomach, oops I mean your family member.

  10. HI everyone!!! I was sleeved 8-14-13 and weighed 338. When I went in for my first apt with the dr in April I weighed 350. And currently I weigh 323. I am SOOO frustrated and depressed and discouraged...etc. I lost down to 323 at first' date=' then gained to 325, then dropped to 319, now back up to 323. I really just want to sit down and cry. Here is another curveball....I am still breastfeeding a 2 year old. So I am not sure how that is affecting things. It is just so hard knowing I have so much to lose, but am not losing much. I have had to go to the ER 2 x and get fluids for dehydration. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!![/quote']

I had surgery on the same day...on the day of surgery, I was 302, one week post op I was 288. Two weeks post op, I was 283. Week 3 to now I've gone up to 288.....I'm not cheating on my diet, I get close to 100oz of Water everyday! And close to 90 grams of Protein....

I'm kind of worried too, I'm seeing my nutritionist on the 19th and surgeon on the 23rd, hopefully they can help me. I'm thinking i'm doing something wrong. I track my food, about 700-800 calories day. No carbs, I really just eat fish, shrimp, rarely chicken, egg whites, oatmeal, and cheese.

I don't know what the heck is going on but sorry you're going through it too.

  11. Best I can explain is that it feels like someone punched me in the stomach. Still waiting to see what they're going to do...

Was it a constant pain? Or a quick pain.

I'm asking because the side of my stomach hurts but it feels like a pulled muscle and it's not always there..comes on if I walk too much or lift something.

  12. Stomach pain started Friday' date=' 16 days post op. called doc saturday and he put me back on all liquid. Pain worse Sunday. This morning sent me for CT scan. I have a blood clot between my stomach and liver. ER doc has never seen one there and no idea how to treat. They admitted me, giving me Heparin to stop growth and will consult with specialist in morning. Of course they are saying they don't know for sure if this is a result of surgery or even if this is the source of my pain. Covering their asses, I guess![/quote']

What did your pain feel like?
