  1. I have HIP, it's covered.

3 month supervised diet under bariatric surgeon or 6months supervised diet by PCP.

    BMI of 40 + or 35 w/ comorbidity

Typically stuff... Look at their website, it's pretty straight forward.

  2. I found it funny that the creators of Segway are amongst the inventors...Segway?? Those little impossible two wheel mall security guard patrol thingies... When did they become qualified to meddle in human health!

Also the name aspireAssist, what aspirations would this be assisting me in?? Even the "inventor" referred to it as gross lol

That poor guy who doesn't want to have his body altered forever... Really? Every time you eat you have to empty your guts, I would say that's more than altering your body. He can just throw up whatever he eats and get the same results for free!

And if you really think about it, you're going to be hungry after your empty your stomach so you're probably going to replace the same calories you just tried to get rid off with more food...

Also, they didn't think of the long term implications? Whatttt?!?! And it's on the market in some places :-(

  3. My biggest fear before was waking up DURING surgery

Holy cow! I thought I was the only one w/ this fear! I woke up while having a tooth pulled and it was torture, luckily they saw me struggling and quickly juiced me up but what if I have one of those weird things like I can hear and feel what's happening but no one else knows?!?! Sigh.

I'm also worried about looking old after surgery. I see a lot of before and after pics on here and although these people look awesome, some look like they've aged 10-15 years in a matter of months.

I'm also worried about my coworkers ordering food. The aroma in the office will make my life miserable. Also I haven't told them anything and won't be about my surgery so the questions about why I am not ordering will be awkward :-/

  4. Abraham was an AWESOME driver and resource person' date=' I can not believe your negativity toward the company! my God! Abraham is right the drain site does leak, and you were told before you left the hospital that you had to change the dressing... Anyways, I'm sorry you are so dissappointed and having such a hard time, but really to throw them under the bus is disgusting and shame on you. BTW Janese was on a plane during the time frame you are talking about, so maybe find out more info before you shoot someone down so quickly, you are not able to take or return phone calls on planes... This company cares greatly about thier patients and I had a FANTASTIC experiance with them.[/quote']

I would love to know how you know she was on a plane at the same exact time.. Especially after the coordinator told her something different...lol all lies

P.S gettinsleeved, you will still have a lot of patients even though one patient voiced negativity. What you should do is learn from your mistake and be better next time around not pretend that you're a patient that had a great experience. Shame on you!!!

  5. Ok pretty much the same requirements I have but my surgeon didn't recommend a cardiologist...I'm a lil concerned about that though. I don't have any heart issues or anything, or I should say none that I know of! Did you lose any weight on the supervised diet? Did they recommend that you drop anything Tricia?

  6. NJ' date=' a dear fiend of mine went into the hospital a few days ago. She was put into a coma purposefully two days ago and today they are taking her off all life support so that she can die in peace. She had bypass surgery two years ago. She died thin, but was one of the unlucky people for whom kidney failure was a result of her surgery. She was always a beautiful woman.

I'm not a huge fan of the sleeve either as I am suffering life long problems due to having another rare (seems like rare is getting more common) complication. But the sleeve is much safer than the bypass. Worst case, if you stay healthy after having the sleeve and can't meet your goals, than have it moved forward to the bypass, but start at the easier procedure and see how it goes. There are so many people here who have lost so much more than you have to lose, so the sleeve could be your best option, but don't take the very last resort first. You have a lifetime to make a second decision. I wish my dear friend still had that option.[/quote']

:-/ Sorry to hear about your lost.

Did she have kidney problems prior to having the bypass?

  7. I have yet to be sleeved my surgeon says that due to my high bmi the sleeve might not be the best (that and my Gerd) but i read here many who lose tons of weight!! I currently weigh 320 and my goal would be 165 is that really impossible with the sleeve?

I think many doctors push the RNY because its an older procedure and more long term data is available. From my research ( which is extensive by the way) people with very very high BMI's like those people who have to break down a wall to get out of their houses...well they use the sleeve as step 1 of 2 surgeries. Step 2 being the RNY. From what I understand, they do the sleeve first so they can get to a safer weight in order for the RNY to be performed. Does your surgeon have more experience with RNY's than Sleeves? Maybe this is why he is pushing you in that direction...

  8. I noticed all the regret posts too but they seem to be posted my people who are a few days to weeks post op. I think it's mostly psychosocial. It's a huge thing. Humans aren't typically good with change and a lot will change. Change is hard! I am so grateful to be going through this with support (partner having surgery as well). Having support is significant for me. Sometimes you just have have to talk it out loud...

  9. I'm bummed, didn't find any info on here or google! I thought google had everything lol. I'm meeting with my surgeon next Thursday and will ask him. But next Thursday seems like next year :-/ My surgeon happens to be black as well so hopefully he'll know more on this. Thanks to everyone that responded!

  10. Yesterday I was informed by my PCP that I have sickle cell hemoglobin C. I'm not sure how this would affect my eligibility for surgery. I've never had a crisis or flare up and I'm still shocked that I have it. From my research, some symptoms are swollen legs, abdominal pain and joint and bone pain which I experience mildly. Any insight?

  11. Folks...I read the thread. Maybe I'll read it again just because you recommended it lol please! I think she should get WLS...that's what she wants right, who am I to say differently, she's not using my money or screwing up my body for no reason....just like I want to poke my stick in the tiger's cage..I can if I want to.. Anywho good luck roller girl. But remember, skinny people have issues too. :-/

  12. I just don't understand how a "doctor" could do this to someone with a 30 BMI' date=' I just don't..... I rarely post here but when I read this site it upsets me. There are doctors doing crazy things all over the board with absolutely ZERO consistency. Pre op diets from none to 30 days, different post op eating schedules as far as puree, soft, and solid foods, some doctors making a lot of money selling you their crappy food for pre op and post op diets (that should NOT be allowed under ANY circumstances), different everything. It's actually bad, and there should be more regulation or industry/surgery standards in this area of medicine.[/quote']

In this world, you can get whatever you want as long as you can pay for it. I know someone who got 2 rows of nipples going down HIS belly and a 4 inch tail and horns implanted on his forehead and a hoof on his left leg....he was fine before but that's what he wanted so the plastic surgeon hooked him up and got paid....

  13. My best friend is a crazy shallow guy (so vain in a lovable way lol). He is hot' date=' knows it and wants everyone else to be too! lol But his ex had a VSG and he always said to me, "who cares about a few small scars... have you seen how hot he is?!" Lol Once you go through this and reach goal, you'll look better with a few small scars than you do now without them!! If you're worried about shallow guys, I'd worry more about being overweight and unhealthy than I would the scars! :)

And if you don't want to reveal to someone right away that you've had WLS, the gallbladder excuse would definitely work! Whenever I was asked about my incision scars from lap band, removal and replacement, I usually just deflected with a joke, saying, "Oh, that's from a knife fight. You should see the other chick." Which avoided a direct lie, and left open the option of revealing it later in the relationship once I felt comfortable.[/quote']

Lmao @ knife fight, Love it!!
