Do you know if you have a fatty liver? My doctor wanted me to do a 2 week liquid diet...People say it's to reduce fat around the liver but I didn't have a fatty liver. My doctor said it's to jump start the weight loss- I lost 40 pounds on my pre-op diet--it was jump started! They wanted me to do 1200 calories/ day in Protein shakes...that would've been like 8 shakes per day lol. It boiled down to 2 shakes per day and a salad. Two days before surgery I did liquids.
All the liquids to prove you're ready theory is nonsense so don't beat yourself up. You're going to be fine when you have surgery...water will be like juice from heaven lol
It's an entirely different ball game after surgery....so don't worry, call your program explain how you feel what's going on etc...I'm sure they'll change it up like they did for me.

We really need to consider what percentage of our weight we actually lost instead of complaining about only this and only that and how slow etc etc! You may be surprised!

I had surgery 8/14/13...I'm down 113 pounds. Want to drop about 30 more but I'm content thus far :-)

I've heard of people removing their entire stomachs when they have stomach cancer. I've never heard of it due to a leak. If a doctor recommended that, I would go with his recommendations over mine. I would probably go for a second opinion though, depending on the time avail for that etc etc. Good luck, it's possible so don't freak out.

My ability (or lack thereof) to consume plain roasted chicken breast tells me otherwise.... Unless, of course, there's a global conspiracy to bring down the chicken market!
Lmaoo omg

I almost had to change surgeons....call the insurance company. I have HIP, they said I just had to have the new surgeon use the same approval code. Also call the surgeon you want to change to...see what they want, you'd probably have to do the seminar and one on one consult again.
I was attempting to change because they wanted to schedule me for September when I finished by requirements and where approved in June.
As soon as I called and asked to have my file faxed somewhere else they gave me a date for 3 weeks out...so I stayed.
Good look

I'm not sure about the disability checks. I got forms but didn't submit b/c I had vacation n sick time I used but the questions on the form made me think I wouldn't get it anyway.

Since having the surgery, I have had an increased problem with gas or flatulence. Has anyone else experienced this or know the cause? Do our new stomachs have difficulty digesting foods now? I'm eating slowly, chewing fully & not swallowing air so I don't think I'm contributing to the problem intentionally. I realize certain foods are more prone to causing flatulence but subjectively I've noticed more gas regardless of what's eaten. Anyone else? Pretty embarrassing.
Gas is the worst for me. Gas pain is my new hunger pain if that makes sense. Plus I'm super gassy now and if I even try to hold my fart in, my tummy hurts!! But I just can't fart whenever I was to lol I notice when I eat certain things it worst...can't eat a lot of broccoli cabbage or lettuce....

I chose the sleeve b/c
I'm anemic and my surgeon said w/ the bypass...the part of my stomach that absorbs Iron would be bypassed and that could be dangerous for me.
Also an endoscopy can't be done on the "unused" part of the stomach...so if cancer is growing in it...the only way to tell is via pet/ct. The issue w/ that is it's done once/ year. So if I do one in dec and cancer starts in January by next dec I'll be dead. This was a concern for me b/c my great g-am had stomach cancer.
Plus the thought of thought of my plumbing being rearranged didn't sit well with me.
I think anyone considering weight loss surgery needs to chose based on his/her own medical history/ goals/ fears. Whatever you go with can work for you if you work for it.

I found it at a grocery chain called compare foods...these are all over NY, not sure if they have chains elsewhere but it was in the regular bread isle. I was imagine other grocers would carry it too.
