    hip covered?

I have HIP, it's covered. 3 month supervised diet under bariatric surgeon or 6months supervised diet by PCP. BMI of 40 + or 35 w/ comorbidity Typically stuff... Look at their website, it's pretty straight forward.

    PUMP MACHINE MAKES FOOD DISAPPEAR!

I found it funny that the creators of Segway are amongst the inventors...Segway?? Those little impossible two wheel mall security guard patrol thingies... When did they become qualified to meddle in human health! Also the name aspireAssist, what aspirations would this be assisting me in?? Even the "inventor" referred to it as gross lol That poor guy who doesn't want to have his body altered forever... Really? Every time you eat you have to empty your guts, I would say that's more than altering your body. He can just throw up whatever he eats and get the same results for free! And if you really think about it, you're going to be hungry after your empty your stomach so you're probably going to replace the same calories you just tried to get rid off with more food... Also, they didn't think of the long term implications? Whatttt?!?! And it's on the market in some places :-(

Whats the hardest part for you?!

Holy cow! I thought I was the only one w/ this fear! I woke up while having a tooth pulled and it was torture, luckily they saw me struggling and quickly juiced me up but what if I have one of those weird things like I can hear and feel what's happening but no one else knows?!?! Sigh. I'm also worried about looking old after surgery. I see a lot of before and after pics on here and although these people look awesome, some look like they've aged 10-15 years in a matter of months. I'm also worried about my coworkers ordering food. The aroma in the office will make my life miserable. Also I haven't told them anything and won't be about my surgery so the questions about why I am not ordering will be awkward :-/

Ok pretty much the same requirements I have but my surgeon didn't recommend a cardiologist...I'm a lil concerned about that though. I don't have any heart issues or anything, or I should say none that I know of! Did you lose any weight on the supervised diet? Did they recommend that you drop anything Tricia?

    Is it really that impossible?

I think many doctors push the RNY because its an older procedure and more long term data is available. From my research ( which is extensive by the way) people with very very high BMI's like those people who have to break down a wall to get out of their houses...well they use the sleeve as step 1 of 2 surgeries. Step 2 being the RNY. From what I understand, they do the sleeve first so they can get to a safer weight in order for the RNY to be performed. Does your surgeon have more experience with RNY's than Sleeves? Maybe this is why he is pushing you in that direction...

    Bizarre trend?

I noticed all the regret posts too but they seem to be posted my people who are a few days to weeks post op. I think it's mostly psychosocial. It's a huge thing. Humans aren't typically good with change and a lot will change. Change is hard! I am so grateful to be going through this with support (partner having surgery as well). Having support is significant for me. Sometimes you just have have to talk it out loud...

    Sickle Cell anyone?

I'm bummed, didn't find any info on here or google! I thought google had everything lol. I'm meeting with my surgeon next Thursday and will ask him. But next Thursday seems like next year :-/ My surgeon happens to be black as well so hopefully he'll know more on this. Thanks to everyone that responded!
  16. Yes I suppose clearer arteries + issues is better than clogged arteries + issues...anyway like I said, good luck! Do what you want to do, after all if you're living someone's life who will be living yours...
  17. Folks...I read the thread. Maybe I'll read it again just because you recommended it lol please! I think she should get WLS...that's what she wants right, who am I to say differently, she's not using my money or screwing up my body for no reason....just like I want to poke my stick in the tiger's cage..I can if I want to.. Anywho good luck roller girl. But remember, skinny people have issues too. :-/
  18. Lol I thought I was the only person saying wtf!!
