Hi there, let me say that there is hope. I had my sleeve march 18. Now I can eat most things, just very small portions. Last night we went out for mothers day (beat the crowds) and I ordered a salad and had about 5 nice bites. Then chicken marsala, about 1/4 breast with a few bites of veggies and then guess what? Two bites of cheese cake. It was so satisfying. It was a mini meal. I felt normal, satisfied and it was probably 300-400 calories. Can you imagine feeling so satisfied on that many calories before the surgery?! Hang in there, you will get past this stage and live a normal "in balance" life!

Hey, that's 6 pounds a week, that's a lot! I'm only doing 4 pounds a week. Think how happy we would have been with this loss pre-op... The great thing is that we will never lose these pounds again - its permanent!
-
I have my 2 weeks post OP appt tomorrow. Should get moved to soft foods from full liquids - hooray! How's everyone doing?
-
All who are struggling with fluids-I was too so one day I picked something I love (orange full sugar gatorade) and drank that. It went down like a dream and tasted so good. Since then I've had an easier time drinking Water. It seemed to get me over the hump and it was just a few extra calories to save my kidneys! Wishing you all well!

Don't care about food? Is that common? That's what I'm hoping for! That's what they say. Go on you tube and search for "vehicle sleeve - treen" and choose the ABC report on DR Treen. They talk about the hormone
-
The other thing is that with vsg we lose the hunger hormone grenelin (sp?). Many people report not being hungry ever. My Dr says it takes a bit for the hormone to get out of your system so you are hungry at first. I'm almost 2 weeks post OP and am less hungry every day. I'm at the point where I don't really care about food anymore. I hope it lasts!

I've been struggling with fluids so I just got some good old normal gatorade. I got my full 64 today including Water and gatorade. A few calories won't kill me right?

I am 3 weeks and having my first egg right now. Been on liquids since surgery. Kind of scary but so far so good!
Good luck!
Thanks, good luck to you too!

Hi all, just checking in. I was sleeved march 18th. I had my first egg today, yum. I ate about half and felt really full. But that went away in 15 mins or so. Only down 5 pounds, but feeling good and I'm sure the weight will come off in time. 13 pounds counting pre OP loss. I have really good energy level. Went to an amusement park with the kids yesterday non stop from 10-5. Happy to be able to function normally! Prayers for everybody getting done today!

Hi Karen, I'm in Mandeville, LA and was sleeved on the 18th. Doing really well today. Lots of energy, able to tolerate my shakes and liquids well. I'm ready to get back to normal...full liquids start Monday!

I'm down 2 lbs since surgery on the 18th. I did a survey on another conversation about the first 5 weeks and it seems like a pound a day is the most common answer with some much higher and lower.

Great! I'm all rested too... Today was the first day of Protein Shakes. It took 3 hours but I finished a Premier Protein shake with 30 grams. I am starting to feel normal again - I even ran an errand! How's everyone else?
-
Prayers for you both, I can't wait to hear how it went!

Hang in there busybeingme. Thank God you had the surgery so they could find it - maybe this saved your life!

Sleep position! I have been having so much trouble sleeping because I'm not a back sleeper. Also' date=' when I lay flat it hurts my stomach. I only feel comfortable if I can sit up slightly. Has anyone else experienced this?[/quote']Try using a hugger pillow and lay on your side...

Hi march sleevers- is now been 48 hours since I got to the recovery room. I came home yesterday afternoon. I was able to sleep all night flat and today I drank some k2o Water for a little Protein. I made 8oz of broth and it was heavenly - great way to get fluids and soothing. Also munching on ice like crazy, its good to chew. My stats so far are:
HW: 200
SW: 192
CW: 191.5

I'm doing well. I was discharged from the hosp yesterday afternoon. Threw up once the first night which was very painful. I was trying to take my pain meds and they wouldn't stay down. My surgery cuts don't really hurt much. The most uncomfortable thing is the bloating in my intestines. I took a gas x strip which helped a tiny bit. But then last night my intestines started grumbling (like they turned back on) and I feel much better. Today I got up and took a shower and feel a little more human again. No pain meds yet today...

All done, surgery went well. I threw up once in the middle of the night. They gave me some anti nausea meds and I'm better now. Hopefully going home today...
