    What are your problem foods?

I have my biggest difficulty with chicken... I can eat Pizza, and bread (small portions, chew, chew, chew)... but no matter how I try chicken... it hurts way too much!

    I am Happy!!!

Good for you.... I know the beginning is VERY hard... and it takes determination. When people hear I've had the lapband, they assume that I haven't had to work for my weight loss... NOT true. I've fought for evey pound. Keep up the determination...and keep in mind... this will pass... I will be healthier...

    Don't look at me!!!!

One thing I HATE is that people will come up to me and say... you look so good... but, I know they knew me before and I still weigh more than I did then. So, I don't like them saying it. When I get down below the weight I was 10 years ago (when I started working here) THEN they can comment... then I WILL look great. I still have 60 pounds to lose! As for an early comment by BooBoo Kitty.... the reason the marriage is falling apart is because SO many men expect women to sacrifice EVERYTHING for them... that when we start to take care of ourselves... they feel left out. My husband pretends to be supportive... but, he doesn't like me having to go to an appointment, or take the time to exercise... it takes away from what I would do for him. He's going to have to deal with it... I've been taking care of the house/kid/him too long. I need to take care of me now. When a person starts to take care of themselves, and that's different from what they used to do... that causes the conflice.
  4. Thanks... better save up for the plastic surgery then!

First... you are NOT a failure. You said you know you've been cheating... but, you haven't gained any weight. Personally, I think that's huge. I used to gain about 15 pounds a year. Just NOT gaining is a wonderful thing to experience. From your ticker I can see that you lost 51 pounds. That's HUGE!!!!! Stop thinking you are a failure... you're NOT. You did slip... but, you are on the right track. We can't beat ourselves up every time we don't lost weight. Just say... I blew it... I didn't gain... but, if I don't eat the ice cream, and I go for a walk... I WILL get on track again. I've made an appointment... I will get this adjusted...We are not in a sprint race... it's a life race. For me... I do have a hard time resisting sweets... they go down so easy. BUT, I try to make sure I treat myself well... go for an hour hike (yes, I have to do hills to get the workout) and know that I am making an improvement, even if the scale doesn't show it! Keep up the positive attitude. As for your loss, there is no way to combat that... you have to accept what you can't change... change what you can... and NEVER beat yourself up!

What an awesome picture... do you know what I was thinking when I was looking at it... I didn't take pictures of before... my doctor did... but I didn't. You started out a little smaller than me... and you're still smaller than me... (started at 287... 218 now)... but, I was sitting there thinking... my god... look at the difference... I wonder if mine would show that too? I know I've gone from a 3x (almost not fitting in that) to a 1x or even a large... I really should have done this!

    Ibuprophen

My doctor told me to hold off as long as possible for this... the longer I waited the better. I take the chewable tylenol... however, I have bad arthritis, and I'm sure at some point I'll take advil. (It's been 5 months so far!)
  9. I also just had my third fill... the first week was VERY hard... I thought it might be too tight... however, now I can drink normal... but, eating is still a little tough. I have chicken salad (without the bread... just the chicken) I can eat a burger (no bun) but it kinda hurts... and I burp a LOT. I think it's good for me... The first week I had trouble sipping at all.
  10. I had a 4 1/2 year old... not a young one... but, I came home from the hospital, and resumed mommy duties. Although I didn't have an easy time with it... I was able to do it. For months before hand, I kept telling him not to climb on me... it helped.
  11. I just had my third fill... the other two did basically nothing... could eat like a horse. This time, I'm having painful swallowing of anything... including water. Does this get better? I really don't want to take out any fill since I want to lose weight... just wondering if the pain subsides.

    Is hair loss a given?

I had my surgery in May and about a month ago it started falling out. I talked to the doctor, and he said it was pretty common, and they use that to indicate if there are any "big" problems. I have thin hair, and it's falling out about 3X's more than it used to. He told me it will take about 4 more months till I recover from it. (Rapid weight loss)

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I had to put my dog of 13 years down. My 5 1/2 year old son is still having difficulty with it. (it's been 8 months) The only thing I would say is let him/her know that the dog is in great pain, and will be very happy in doggy heaven. It was very sad for quite a while. Just talk to him/her and when they bring it up let them talk too. I don't know if you've ever had to do this before... but, it's MUCH harder than you think.

I read your post... I think it's incredible that you've lost so much so far! I don't seem to have any control. ALTHOUGH, I'd love to have a diet coke... you said soda didn't bother you at all? (I haven't tried it) I have had steak though. I can eat pretty much anything. I have lost weight, but... I'm horrible right now. I have a month before going to the doctor for another fill... hopefully, I won't put on any weight. You said you feel full... I'm always hungry. I can't wait till the adjustment is right. You've done wonderfull so far... I hope you keep it up!
  16. My doctor said no pool or tub for 3 weeks. I still can't go in the lake.

    Sick days or vacation

I thought that I would be back to work in 3 days because I can tough it out... I couldn't. I took a week, and needed it. I don't think you will want to go back before your doctor says....so take the sick days... and save the vacation for when you are feeling great! Good luck!!!!
  18. I read through this... why do we feel like failures when we lose slowly???? You lost 33 pounds... that's awesome. You probably gained muscle mass... which is heavier. See how it is the next week. You are not a failure... you are working with what you have. Last week I lost 1 1/2 pounds, and at first I was disappointed.... but, then I realized... I LOST. I used to gain about 2 pounds a month every month. I didn't. I lost... that's a huge thing. So what if once in a while you "mess up".... it's about the long journey. We can't all get there at the same time, and we all will have our difficulties... but, we are all WINERS for doing something about it.
  19. I know this sounds supid... are there any restrictions on intimacy? I've been home 2 weeks, and feel fine. I never asked my doctor this, and I won't see him till Friday. Any advice?
  20. I think that shrinnking the liver definately helps with the surgery... exercise has been proven to help with recovery. I also think that dieting before the surgery will mentally/physically prepare you for it. Shrinking the stomach may help you deal with the liquid diet after. I'm very happy I went on the diet before. Never mind losing the 10 pounds!
  21. I do know what you are saying though... it would have been nice if you were told. I believe that surgeons go in with one thought in mind... how to safely put the lapband in. I wasn't told the incision would be large, I thought 1/2 inch. (Yes, now I know that 3 - 4 inches is normal) I wasn't told that he was going to use the new AP band till after. I know everyone wants to be informed.... but, sometimes I don't think the doctors know they didn't say something about it. He may have thought you were prepared for that size incision. I know I wasn't... but, I'm sure others are. How many meetings did you have prior to your surgery?

    spagettie squash

I checked on that web site.... it's much easier to split the squash, then take out the seeds.... put it face down on a sprayed foil sheet.... then cook it for 1 hour at 375. When you see the rim at the bottom getting brown, remove. Turn over, and scrape out the squash. (Mine is easier since the seeds are already removed.) Then melt a little butter, and use butter to coat the squash, and then use grated cheese on top. It's very tasty!
  23. I hear so many negative things about Lapband.... how many are happy to have done this?
