  1. I saw my OB yesterday and she said that of all her patients that has had weight loss surgery and the IUD, none of them had reported any weight gain. She doesn't think that the Mirena is affecting me adversely. And I'm not gaining weight, I'm just stalled. She told me to keep and eye on my progress and if it's an issue, she'll pull it. I have no other side effects from it otherwise so I would hate to have it removed, but if it's hindering my progress, it has to go.

  2. Is this possible? I had my Mirena inserted on April 2, I had my surgery on January 28. In the month and a half since I had the Mirena inserted, I have not lost an ounce. However, I haven't gained weight either. I thought it a little odd that I have been at a plateau for 6 weeks, but, maybe the Mirena is to blame?

    Has anyone had this experience?

  3. What are good running shoes I've been using the goruns by sketchers but want something tat will last longer and give a little more support with form?

Asics, Brooks, and New Balance make excellent running sneakers. I recommend going to a running shop to get fitted however. I have a pair of New Balance runners, they fit me perfectly, but I don't recommend them for long runs because they feel heavy. If you like a lightweight sneaker with good arch support, I highly recommend Nike Free Run.

  4. Love, love, love hot yoga. Once you can get past the heat, it's extremely beneficial for you. Especially if you have a bad back, sciatica, or stiff joints. The combination of the stretching and the heat will make you feel amazing afterwards.

  5. What's with the super negativity? She was just saying what works for her. I'm 10 weeks post op on Monday and I've only lost 30 lbs. I diet my ass off watch everything I put in my mouth, get plenty of Protein and low carbs, I work my ass off at the gym 4 days a week and the scale isn't moving. So, just because a set pattern of eating habits works for a lot of people, it doesn't mean that it works for all people. Just sayin.

  6. I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast. Mid morning is a piece of cheese or Greek yogurt. lunch is a salad with grilled chicken, or 2 hardboiled eggs (no yolk) and a piece of cheese, dinner is a little tricky sometimes. Sometimes I'll have an omelet with feta cheese and mushrooms, sometimes I just pick at things, like triscuits and hummus, maybe a portobello burger (no bread), etc. I drink approximately 64 ounces of liquid a day.

  7. Went in for my 8 week appointment on Thursday and I'm only down 17 pounds. Even the doctor said that they are disappointed in my weight loss. They sent me for a complete blood workup, but, Idk what else to do. I've all but cut starches out of my diet, I take in about 800 calories a day, I get about 80 grams of Protein, and I've started going back to the gym. In my mind, this weight should be flying off of me. So upsetting.

  8. I have advanced to a regular diet at this point. I have been eating a lot of eggs, a lot of cheese. I've been snacking on trail mix, occasionally I'll have a Protein Bar. I find that heavy carb items, like bread, don't sit well with me, so I've been avoiding them. I'm not getting as much Protein as I should, probably about 50 grams a day. I'm consuming anywhere between 500-1000 calories daily. Most days I hover around the 700 range. I do use my fitness pal to track everything. I'm hoping that once I get back to the gym, I will start losing weight again.

  9. Hello everyone. I'm new here, my name is Danielle, I'm 34 years old. I had my surgery on January 28th at JT Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson Station, NY. Surgery was performed by Dr. Arif Ahmad. Pre surgery my weight was 263. One month post op, I'm down to 243. After the first week and a half I got down to 238, past few weeks I have not been losing, just gaining. Maybe I'm being impatient, but, does anyone know if this is normal? I would hate to think I went through all the pain of surgery to just lose twenty pounds.

    Thank you.
