  2. :)I'm new to this forum as well, I have a B.M.I of 38.3 with pre-diabetes, hyperlipidemia, borderline high blood -pressure, And a few other things, I'm 39 with 8 kids all mine. And my insurance papers were submitted, 07/25/07 That was a happy day for me. I cant wait to be a loser !!!!! All I have to do is my Cardio/stress for the Surgeon and blood-work, to have all my stuff the Surgeon. that will be Aug,1rst. I'm on pins and needles though.:paranoid

  3. :straight For me it seems like a long haul, I first inquired about in Feb. just took a peep at it, nothing serious.I got the nerve to make my first appt. in May it took 2 weeks to get it, it was June 7th I had to do a barage of testing. I had to do 1 nutritional visit, But I did 2, I did 2 sleepstudies because the first one got messed up, Some how,my cardio-stress was post-poned 3x and now the machine is broke it could be up to 2 weeks to get fixed, My physc. eval. took 2 weeks to book as well, and then theirs the pnemonia I had for almost 2 weeks, Then the nutr. accidently typed the wrong paper, and had to redo it , So as of Today....... I just barely had the paper work sent in now the other wait. the insurance has 30 day's to make a decision. and if they say yes yippee, If they say no, we have to appeal, So..so far it's been already awhile to me, The cardio & blood work are last, I didn't need that for the Insurance. Good luck

  4. YOU HAVENT EVEN HAD YOUR FILL YET HAVE YOU? You may feel diffrent

after that. dont the Doc's wait, 6wks. before your 1rst.fill I havent had the band yet. But I have read about people having the same problem.

They say sometimes the eat pretty good until.....THE FIRST FILL. Iam

afraid of that too. We all test the waters so to speak. good luck.and hang in there.

  5. I found out 06/14/07 I may not need to wait for the 6mo. diet. One of the girls at the clinic call-ed to tell me. See I noticed on one web-site that First Health,You need a physc.eval. and a History and physical from pcp documenting any

co-morbidities. So when I told the receptionist

she said she would check. They had a paper with their criteria for First Health a long one I might add...She said I may not need all the other things which was listed previously. She had recieved a phone call from the insurance people on the Dr's. end and found out what I needed. So it may not take as long as I thought.

"I say" always ask questions, it never hurts.

  9. I'm having an appt;with a surgeon 06/07/06 since,I Have been doing a lot of research first lapband ect..When I called to see if insurance covered it I decided to go ahead and talk to my Dr.office to get my Med.Rec's so at my appt: I will hopefully have most of what I need I as well have a BMI of 38.3 and high cholesteral .bloodsugar test was 120 they like it at least 112 so it was high and said I was at risk for coronary problems,on top of borderline high bloodpressure.which I'm taking atenolol for because I have been having a lot of headaches.anyway Iam taking my Docs rec. with me

    good luck,

    Sabrina:D

  10. Hey, I also have First Health. They literally approved me within 2 days, once they had all the documentation. That is what took the longest. I finally got the rest of my documentation sent to them on a Friday and I was approved the following Monday. They are good about approvals, but they require you to jump through hoops to get it. I did my documented weight loss diet in 2005, long before I ever considered getting the lap-band. What took longest was getting the rest of the documentation. Between getting appointments with all my doctors to have them write letters for me, I had to make appointments with a pulmonologist, psychologist, and nutritionist, and have an upper GI done.

You really need to check with the insurance company to see which surgeons are in their network, though. There were only two in my state that they would pay for.

WOW! I Have First Health as well (ppo) their were 2kinds my hubby signed up for the better option one.I read that handbook a100x(ppo plan A)I think;he works for ttx railroad anyway...I didnt see were it would cover;really it said not for weight loss clinics or supplements... so I wondered... is this a clinic or a surgery processes,I called the insurance, and they said Well...If a Doc thinks it's necassary. So I called to have an appt.06/07/07 I already had my doc. give me my med.recs.I sooooo hope it will get paid for my bmi is 38.3 I have pre-diabetes,high cholesteral, borderline high bloodpressure....any thoughts?
