Lansoprazole and Other Medications
Macy6 replied to LaManche's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre op but my surgeon said I can start taking my normal prescriptions and will be offered liquid or pill form of tylenol two days after surgery. I suppose every surgeon is different, it was my question though, I have two anti depressants and I need to get one switched to not extended release, however I was not wanting to have to crush them. -
It sounds like a good thing to mention it to your physician. Make sure you are remaining compliant with your depression/anxiety treatment, it will probably come up during your psych consult. I think the important thing is to remember the reasoning for the change and embrace the positives and trials you will work through! Good Luck! Lets us know what you decide.

No liquids with meals
Macy6 replied to Michelle Martin-Trotter's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Here is that video -
I'm getting so nervous! Pre op diet starts Saturday, I'm having dinner with a friend Friday night it's my only real big last meal type thing, otherwise I've just ate my norm these past few months. Thankfully my mom is doing it with me (5 cases of premier protein sitting in my room, we get 3 a day and two small meals) next Tuesday I go in for pre admission testing, pay co pays and any last minute paperwork. I won't lie I'm terrified for that, a patient in my surgeons practice received the call the night before surgery that she was anemic and they were postponing the surgery. I have no history of that, and I have been taking my vitamins I should hopefully be good. I have all of my post op prescriptions filled and on my shelf, miralax, gas x, and all the anti emetics and ppi and of course the pain killers. I have a small list of items I need for the 24 hour clear liquid before surgery and some post op liquids and I should be good. The 27th will be here before I know it.

How many of you had to have an open procedure?
Macy6 replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has only ever had one lap to open. That made me feel better, and it was during his fellowship. It worries me too. -
I'm with Laura-ven the bougie has little to do with the actual pouch size. My surgeon said that he doesn't staple next to the bougie that it is simply and guide and that he backs off just a bit. He's also never had a stricture so I'm ok with that

Thinkgs are moving along so fast all of a sudden.
Macy6 replied to ejsfanatic's topic in Insurance & Financing
It does seem to speed up. I had 6 months and the first few months just kind of happened and store I knew it I was rushing to finish up my last couple appts. Than it was time to submit and than the wait began..... It took FOREVER to get through those few weeks. Now I'm 13 days pre op. time is flying once again -
When talking to my 14yo about my upcoming surgery he said "so will you come home from the hospital skinny?" One could only hope hehe. At last we all must travel the road of less fat and more exercise to achieve our dreams. It's coming.... As quickly or slowly as our road travels.

Are you having any pain on deep inspirations? Make sure you are getting those deep breaths in.

My SLEEVE IS TOMORROW 8/14/13
Macy6 replied to lifelovekix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know this was hours ago but yeah you wouldn't want to eat. They will suction out your stomach but when they intubate you there is risk of them hitting that gag reflex and I've seen patients with stuff in their stomach vomit everywhere, than you are at risk for aspiration, pneumonia. Lord knows you wouldn't want that! -
I had a friend who had pretty strenuous requirements. She told me she actually went through the program twice before completing it, because she found she just couldn't get through it the first time. There are hoops to jump through but it will be so worth it! Good Luck!

4 days out waking with nausea...normal?
Macy6 replied to anglicanchic85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon gave me a couple post op anti emetic prescriptions. I would definitely give them a call and ask for something! It will quite a bit more effective than anything you get over the counter. -
Searching for great dr in ga that accepts Medicaid
Macy6 replied to The Go To Gyrl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Have you tried searching for it on their website? Also have you spoken to your primary physician? They might have a referral for you. -
I am 7 years post op from having my gall bladder removed and my scars are quite faded, pretty much the color of the rest of my skin and I would guess someone who didn't know, wouldn't really realize what they were. They are far from completely gone though.

Surgery Date is tomorrow! (8-13)
Macy6 replied to aTXtumbleweed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good Luck! It was my original surgery date (and date I wanted for months and months) my surgeon is taking a much needed vacation (I am guessing he he) so I am letting him do that to be completely refreshed when he comes back to me in two weeks! -
I am interested too

Worried about pre op testing affecting my surgery
Macy6 replied to Megan~Renee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard your A1C levels can have an effect dependent on what they are. I am not diabetic and do not know this for a fact. Someone else probably has more information. -
I have not had experience with that insurance but definitely start with your physician. It doesn't hurt to look up local bariatric clinics, find out if they have informational seminars etc... But more than likely you'll need that referral from your PCP and by going to them first you are setting up a good start to the relationship and journey that they are going to be a huge part of. My physician was new to me, I actually was set up with her the first appt after referral. I saw her 6 times in 5 months and you know when I hit my surgeons weight loss goal, she hugged me, when I told her I was approved she told me how proud of me she was. It created a part of our physician-patient relationship that I've never had with another doctor.

Post op- not losing lbs...
Macy6 replied to loftyleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really wouldn't. Your body is well hydrated and in a bit of shock. If you can try to wait out until your two week check up (easier said than done) it will be a pleasant surprise. -
Extended release pills (XL) and the foamies
Macy6 replied to karpouzian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my goodness. I was planning on taking my Wellbutrin XL the evening before. That is just crazy -
Aug 27th @ 1115am... But who's counting?

Mine is because of the 6 month requirement. I would guess with pre op testing, without the requirement that it would have taken probably 2-3 months.

"Miracle" flexibility suggestion for tight people
Macy6 replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Mine came with a paper that shows other ways to use it, such as under the hips etc... where it can work in other areas. I saw a picture of someone standing on one I am not sure how that would feel!
