  1. You definitely aren't alone. I saw an ad for bagels and cream cheese earlier and mourned the cream cheese lmao. I was like OMG pull it together. I will come off soft foods 2 days before thanksgiving. I'm already scared. I keep telling myself: I will eventually incorporate foods back into my life in a more effective and healthful way. I will someday have a bagel and cream cheese again but it will be half of a whole grain bagel with a couple teaspoons of low fat cream cheese and it will be OK. I have lived 14-15 years of food funerals. I have gorged myself to nausea. I have ate because it was there and not because I was hungry. I have risked my life and the livelihood of my child for my addiction. It's time to put me first, it's time to reach for the stars and actually reach them. We got this. It won't be easy but we can do this.

    August 2013 Roll Call

I'm really sorry. I am sure that is very frustrating. You got this! You can and WILL do it! Low carb is what did it for me and my pre op diet seems to be quite effective too.

    Gahhhhhh!

I told my mom and aunt I was concerned that I would be more at risk of abduction. They looked at me like I was crazy, but who is going to try to abduct a fat girl? It's just gonna be a lot more work than a thin one. I think I need to quit watching Dateline and A&E

    nausea advice

Yeah I have a patch and 3 hours before surgery I take Emend (strong anti emetic for chemotherapy patients) sounds like its a good thing

    Day 2

I am day two too! I absolutely agree today has been more difficult than yesterday. I am fairly certain I read another post, are you 4 protein shakes a day? Mine is a little more forgiving: 3 protein shakes, 5 oz of meat, 2 C raw veggies and 1 C cooked veggies (split over two meals) but I have struggled! Is your surgery day the 27th?

    Meds?

Iron and Calcium need to be separate (Calcium inhibits the absorption of the Iron) Vitamin C helps with the absorption of Iron. That's all I got....
  7. Yeah I just don't get that. You go girl! You are doing awesome and you do it until you are happy!
  8. I was not given any restrictions of things to avoid pre op in the area of supplements and vitamins. I bought Yogi Berry Detox tea today, I figured since I started my pre op diet today I would drink a cup a day. I happened upon an article today that said it was best to avoid ginger root in the week before a surgery. Has anyone been given supplements to avoid before surgery?

    August 2013 Roll Call

Wow.... Was that not something they addressed early on? I had to loose 5#, but had 6 mo notice (and waited til the last week, of course) I know there was a girl through my surgeon who had to loose 50-60 but had the same amt of notice. Hang in there. Frustrating but your time will come!

    In Waiting...

It took 14 days for me to get my phone call and it was the longest 14 days EVER! Even though I had the call I still wanted the letter and that took another week. Hope you hear soon!

    Telling the kids

I did forget to mention that he did want to know if I would leave the hospital skinny or if I would be the same size AND more importantly he was concerned once I did loose weight that I would steal his clothes. (Because I want to wear boy skinny jeans and character t shirts)
  12. Well I am happy you were successful. When I woke up from my gall bladder surgery the nurse was like "how are you?" And I said "I peed myself" she was like no you didn't.... I was like wanna bet? LOL. She looked and confirmed that for the first Time since I was potty trained I had peed my bed. I was horrified.

    Telling the kids

I have a 14 year old son. I told him about half way into my journey. I told him I was keeping it just between a few close friends and family for now and asked him to do the same. He has been fine with it and not mentioned it to anyone.
  14. Yeah all different. Mine is 10 days, 9 days is 3 protein shakes a day, 2 small meals consisting of a total of 5oz of lean protein, 2C of salad and 1C of cooked veggies. 1 day clear liquids. Day one for me and so far great! Finishing today at 890 calories, 117g of protein and 92oz of water and 1 piece of gum :-)
  15. Thanks for this Laura-ven, I am day one of pre op. I am feeling great today, but I worry the next couple days could become more difficult. I printed the original post you recommended to remind me!
  16. OK honestly I think it is a really cute dress. Is it perfect? no, but it is really really REALLY close. I would not tell you to take it back!!! The lines on it are very flattering, the way it curves on your hips and waist is very flattering. I would honestly say you are very close to it being a perfect fit and is something you need to keep in your closet!
  17. Started my pre op diet today. I am doing fine, a little hungry, but dinner is cooking.

  18. Today is day one of my pre op. I have ten days, nine are 3 protein shakes a day and two small meals and one day of clear liquids. Hopefully I don't have any issues, time will tell.
  19. Lots and lots of water. Just don't get yourself dehydrated.

    Accelerated heart rate

Have you taken your pulse and seen the increase, or does it feel like it is increasing? The reason I ask is, I have felt like mine was racing before to find it at a completely normal number. If you do know the numbers, what is your baseline? and how high does it get?

    Crappy A#% Friends

This rang true to me, a lot of the responses did too. My best friend just told me a week or so ago that she was jealous that I was having the surgery. She has lost 50# since May on her own and she also told me that she felt like I haven't been supportive to her in her own weight loss. It made me realize how self involved I have been. Part of my problem was, her and I started together in May, my hope was to drop 50 or so pounds before surgery, although I've dropped and maintained some, I haven't been nearly as successful as her. I have taken the effort to be more supportive to her and involved her how I can. I asked her to come to my pre op final visit with me and asked her to be my ride home from the hospital. I made it known how much I needed her there for both events and things have been better. I'm not sure about you and your friend but me and mine, we have been through lots of ups (in weight) and lots of downs (in weight) together. We have built our friendship around Queso fundido, donuts and crap. We have struggled in plus sizes always having one another to Fall back on, not being the only fat one. She is scared I'm going to just drop down and hit goal in no time (if it were only that easy) she is afraid that I have this surgery that's going to magically keep the weight off (if it were only that easy) she will see my struggles and know its a tool and not a magic trick, but until than, I shall persevere. There is no surgery on this earth that is worth our friendship.

    Ouch :(

Uhhhh this is my fear. I clean at my sons dance studio to help offset the cost of tuition. I only put in 2-3 hours a week, but it is hard work and I am usually sweating like crazy and come home sore and exhausted. I worry how long it will be for me to get to my full cleaning again. I can go and supervise my son to do it, but he will never do it the way I like (That is a 14 year old for ya!)
  23. My guess would be the sodium you would want to look out for. I am starting pre op diet tomorrow (it is a mix of protein shakes and two small meals) and my surgery date is the 27th. I am nervous and excited!
  24. This is my physician too! When I hit my weight loss goal to submit for insurance she hugged me, she practically jumped up and down when I was approved and told me that even though she won't be rounding on me that if she is in town she will definitely come and see me. I would go in and be up front and let him know that this is very important to you and that you will do it with or without his support, if that means finding a new doctor that you will. I would than emphasize that it is important to you to maintain a relationship with him through this process and hope he will consider it. If he won't do it, than find someone new, they can't with hold your medical information.

    Going Crackers?

I agree with Amy, if they are a trigger food stay far far away. Have you considered something like paleo wraps? http://paleowrap.com/ or maybe making cauliflower tortillas http://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/cauliflower-tortillas.html
