  1. Count me in.....I'm older than dirt. Plus, I was banded 11/29/04.
  2. If it's cold, I have to drink slowly (not exactly sip, though) or it will come back and re-visit me. And I'm two years + out and pretty tight.
  3. Denise... I have Asthma, too. I was banded in November and was fine until the summer. I was walking 3-4 miles a day and it gets HOT in Texas, and extreme heat plus exertion can trigger that I-can't-get-enough-air feeling (for me, at least). I was using just a rescue inhaler and had to go to regular maintenance meds for awhile, but I'm fine - overall.
  4. Donna... I know this is a new challenge that you weren't prepared for, but you can overcome this, too. When the Cancer is gone, you will appreciate life that much more. Keep a positive attitude - no matter what. I once had a doctor tell me (post-op from major surgery) that if he could bottle a good attitude and sell it, he'd be a rich man with healthier patients. I want to participate in the 3 day walk in October for Breast Cancer awareness. I have a good friend who is 2 years Cancer free and sweating every mammogram. I want to walk for her, and I will walk for you, too.
  5. I wish my DH would "waste" more time on the computer and less on the golf course. Everything is relative to something.
  6. I offered my daughter and son-in-law $5000, plus a great honeymoon, if they would do a "location wedding" with just family. I figured it would be less stressful for me, and I'd come out way cheaper, to boot. But they wouldn't go for it. They were young and they wanted a party with all their friends. Everybody had a wedding horror story to tell me....the bakery, the caterer, the bridal shop owner - everyone. I told my daughter that there was never a perfect wedding. Something would surely go wrong, but if we were lucky, it wouldn't be a major issue. Turned out the disk jockey had written the wrong date in his daytimer, so we arrived at the reception sans music. But I was able to reach him by phone and he showed up ASAP and did a great job. The mother of the groom's job is much easier. All you have to do is wear something that doesn't clash and keep your mouth shut. PS....New topic....is the Electric Slide worse than the Macarena?
  7. I don't know....that sounds pretty smart to me...LOL. I know what you mean. Lucy definitely prances.
  8. The higher-end dept. stores have them - Neiman's, Nordstrom's, Macy's, etc.
  9. Lucy HATES being groomed. She has been banned from a couple of places, even though I gave her doggy Valium before I took her. Now I have the world's best groomer. She is as good as the dog whisperer, I swear. And she doesn't use meds. You can do anything to Jackson and he doesn't care, but bathing Lucy is like trying to baptize a cat! In fact, I have accused Lucy of being a cat in a dog's body. Dogs have owners, but cats (and Lucy) have attendants. You are right, though. The Schnauzers are SMART!
  10. If your computer did not self-adjust its clock for the new, earlier Daylight Savings Time, go to this site and download the patch (if your OS is Windows): http://support.microsoft.com/gp/dst_hu1
  11. YES! Lucy the psycho Shih Tzu and Jackson the goofy Mini-Schnauzer. Both of them were rescues - more or less. Lucy is such a little twit, I made DH promise that if something happens to me, he will give her to the groomer - the only other person in the world she tolerates, besides me. Otherwise, I know she'd be headed for the dog pound the day after my funeral.
  12. I know I've posted these before, but I can't help myself. Lucy and Jackson
  13. JBean is your evil twin, silly.
  14. Welcome, Newfie Boy. The other guys on this board will be super happy that you've joined. They are way out-numbered by us crazy females. And congrats on your victory over Cancer! Few things are more life-changing than that!
  15. Denise... I get most of my Protein from low-fat cheese, skim milk, etc. I do eat a little chicken and I eat bacon and tuna fish, too. I totally understand about the carbs. I have the same problem - if I keep them in the house, I will eat them until they are gone. I am still struggling with the weight Santa brought me (LOL) for Christmas. It got cold and that was my excuse for not walking. Then, after the Christmas candy was all gone, I found white chocolate M&Ms at Big Lots for $2.00 a bag, so I thought I should stock up. Big mistake. Now half my jeans won't zip, so I am trying to be "good" again. It sure doesn't come off as easily as it goes on, does it?
  16. I'm sure there are, just as I'm sure there are gay conservatives. Nobody believes 100% in every single plank of their party's platform.
  17. Did I understand that correctly? Are you saying that Alexandra "warned" you about us? The people you seem to have a problem with, including myself, had ZERO to do with "the big mess" on LBT. And I was invited to join B2G, by the way, but just never did. Hello....Earth to Sherri Jo....I gave you the nicest, most agreeable response of anyone. Here it is... How is that "beating up" on you? What are you talking about? I never said anything about running you off! And I didn't ask where or when you graduated.

  19. When we think of a plane crash, we typically think of a catastrophic event, of an aircraft plummeting from the sky. But the majority of accidents involving planes also involve something else: survivors. Hard landings, bad takeoffs, runway collisions, loss of control, and other survivable events make up roughly 56 percent of airplane accidents. And your chances of escaping with your skin intact may change depending on where you're seated. Why? Because most people who die in survivable crashes aren't killed by the impact; they die instead from toxic smoke inhalation immediately afterward. Getting out alive comes down to two factors: surviving the impact, and getting out fast. So sitting in the middle of the plane is not a particularly good bet, since on many planes you're sitting over the center fuel tank. And if the wing tanks are ruptured, vaporized fuel can quickly explode. A general guideline: Your chances of survival increase the most if you score a seat by an emergency exit near the rear of the plane. No one compiles statistics to confirm that one seat is safer than another, so these recommendations are based on anecdotal evidence and personal experience. Each aircraft is different, of course, but a few have seats that are clearly safer (and in many cases, more comfortable). Here's a quick rundown: Plane Type: 757 Safest Seat: Seats 10A and 10F. Though these are window seats, there are no 9A and 9F seats to block your escape, and the exit doors are just a couple of feet in front of you. Plane Type: 747 Safest Seat: Rows 61 through 64, closest to the window. The 747 tapers near the rear, and as a result, there are no window seats in those rows, just extra space to help you relax during a flight…and escape in a crash. Plane Type: MD80 Safest Seat: Rows 21 and 22 have an extra eight inches of legroom because they are near the emergency exits. And they're far away from the engines, which are in the rear of this plane. Plane Type: 737 Safest Seat: As far rear as possible. For safety records of each individual airline and airplane type, check out airsafe.com. For seating charts, check out seatguru.com.
  20. What a prediciment. I'm a Christian Liberal. Would I rather see a Fundamentalist Conservative or an Atheist Liberal in office? I'll take the Atheist, every time. Why? Because I don't believe my religion and my politics are one and the same. Because I don't want Fundamentalist religion taught in public schools, or shaped into law. (This is only fair, since I know of no Fundamentalists who want Catholic prayers, values, etc taught in their kids' schools.) Because I don't think a belief in God is necessary for fair, sound political representation.
  21. Wow! That's just an amazing commitment and a huge statement on how much your faith means to you. I have a friend who, along with her husband, belongs to a clown ministry. It's so cool! And their grandkids love it!
  22. Do I need the extra aggravation?
  23. My husband would soooooo agree with you. Everytime I can't find something, he wants to take my purse and dump it upside down!
  24. Only you know Tina, TOM. Is she the "coy" type, or does she say what she means, and mean what she says? If I told my DH to pretend I wasn't having a BD and he planned a party, bought a cake, etc, I would be furious. I'm smart enough to know my own mind.
  25. The term "Christian right" is sometimes - not always, but sometimes - an oxymoron.
