Oprah's Weigh Loss Tips, Mini-Gastric Bypass, and New Weight Loss Camp....those are the ads when I click on this thread. I don't see the connection to the LB, but I at least like Oprah. The MGB guy, I don't like. He's the one who posted the very negative video on youtube.com about "failed" Lap Band procedures. I think anything to do with the MGB should be banned from LBT. Just my shiny dime's worth.

Exactly.....the prayer in school people are, in reality, only supportive of prayers that mirror their beliefs. Once their kids started praying the Rosary, or the Shema, they would not be happy. Nor would I, if my child was "taught" their doctrine thru prayer.

It's good for both our wallets and our backsides if we can bicycle, walk, etc instead of driving, but the price of gasoline is still going to cost us extra, no matter what. Whenever gas goes up, so do prices. The manufacturer raises his price to cover the extra cost of shipping. It costs the retailer more to have his stock delivered, so he passes it on to you. So whether you own a vehicle or not, you will still pay for the increase in gas prices.

What about the off topic posts in the General Lap Band Discussion forum (and other support forums)? Do those threads get to stay, just because they were posted to the wrong forum? Or would there be topic police to root them out and move them to their proper place?

I've been hanging out here for quite some time and never even knew there was a "Top 5" until this discussion started. I agree...it's just not that obvious.

I must not be as easily offended as I thought.....the existing thread titles don't send me into spasms of righteous indignation. There are no four letter words....nothing that screams racial hatred, etc. The words "boy love" are not, in and of themselves, offensive to anyone. As for abortion, it's a legal procedure and discussed very openly on the six o'clock news. There are threads in the Lounge called "Sex Drive Poll", "For Those Who Pray", and "I Need Help To Help My Wife With Her Big Os". Shall we make the Lounge posts harder to access, as well?

You are so right. There will be no shortage of advertisers due to the content in R&R. We might like to think that corporate America is deeply vested in good taste, but it just ain't so. On the other hand, I don't visit my other WLS boards nearly as often as I did before, simply because of all the off-topic threads on LBT. After two years, I'm ready to talk about something other than the Lap Band once in a while. And I like the diversity - everything from Jerry Falwell to boy-love to Mormon underwear to abortion to wedding planning. Where else can you get a smörgåsbord of topics like that?

No, you absolutely do NOT. Only about 1/3 have significant "dumping" in the first place, and most of those lose that so-called benefit after a year or two. And the body adapts so that there is less malsorption over time. It is these things, plus the distended, non-adjustable pouch, that causes rebound weight gain in the majority of bypass patients.
