April 8th here too!!!
-
Thanks ladies!! Just emailed my doctor to see what he says...
-
I woke up this morning with either a cold or allergies. If it is a cold will my doctor want to postpone my surgery???
-
My Dr. requires 5-6 Protein shakes a day for 2 weeks prior to surgery. You do not get hungry because you don't have time to with all that drinking and Protein on board!
He does allow 4 sensible meals during that 2 weeks and even though it was not easy, (I never want to see another Bariatric Advantage protein shake) I felt better for doing it because I wanted no complications and I figured the way to get the least chance of that was to follow the surgeons directions to a T. There are so many different opinions on here from different surgeons!
Yea I find that it is crazy the extreams of doctor plans on here...every thing from ZERO pre op diet to 1 month of pure liquid...
-
What have you drank?? I was just going to do Protein Shakes but wondering if I should add broth or something else??
-
OH ok!! How long ago were you sleeved???
-
My dr requires a full liquid diet 2 weeks out and then a clear liquid 1 week out. My mom and I both had it and followed the diet. I can honestly tell you that we both had super easy transition and recovery after the surgery. The purpose of the diet is to shrink the liver since the stomach sits behind the liver and it makes it easier for them to access. I will say I cheated a couple of times but with VERY low fat foods (a slice of cheese wrapped in some turkey).
So you did a total of three weeks then???
-
My surgery is one week from today!!! I can't believe how soon it is!!! I have been on a lower calorie preop diet for the last couple of months and about two weeks ago asked my doctor if I should do liquid diet for the last couple of weeks. He said I could but don't have to until about two days before surgery. So I have decided to start today and I am on just protien shakes three times a day for the next 7 days. I am only 6 hours in and I feel like I will NEVER be able to do this for 7 days...
Am I crazy for doing this?? I guess I was figuring to start today versus Friday so that over the weekend hopfuly the really bad hunger is not too bad so my family won't want to kill me or vice versa...
Advice?? Thoughts??

Ok .. what did you need a timer for??
Alot of people use a timer for eating. They will take a bite and then set the timer for two minutes and wait to take another bite until the timer goes off.

I have my surgery scheduled for April 1st!!! It is starting to feel real, probably for the first time!! I cannnnnot wait!! But at the same time feel so scared. I feel like I did when I was 2 weeks prior to labor...the anxiety!
Congrats to you!
I feel the same way!!! I am so glad you made the connection to being prior to labor!! That is EXACTLY how I feel!!!

You are too funny!! And you felt fine???
-
Ok so that brings up another question then...How long are most people on pain meds??
-
How soon post op is it ok to drive??
-
Your goal is 30 pounds?
I thought the same thing at first too. I think she means that she is almost 1/2 way to total goal not that 15 is 1/2 of her goal.

I was told I could have Decaf but my doctor doesn't want me to have any caffeine,
I was told the same thing. Today is my one week sobriety from caffeine and I actually don't miss it any more!! I will admid days 1-3 were a mess but now all is good.
But like others said all doctors are different...mine said caffeine is dangerous not only for dehydration but can also cause an ulser...

I am also a SSF sleever!! I started my process in about October or so (I think) and I am getting my new tummy on April 8th!! I am so excited!!!
The time frame of the process with Kaiser is going to depend on a few things...How soon you get in to see the surgen, how much weight he tells you you need to lose, and how quickly you can lose it.
Do you know who your surgen is yet???
