  1. When they do the surgery your hunger hormone isn't released in the same amounts. Your body will give you some warning signs that you've had enough. It's a little different for everyone. I used to be able eat a ton of food, and now I just don't desire it. I like eating when it is time for a meal, but I'm not like "that was it??". I'm satisfied & move on.

  2. P!nk - Blow me (once last kiss) , Britney - I Wanna Go, Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah, LMFAO - Sexy and I Know it, Republica - Ready to Go, ***** Cat Dolls - When I Grow Up, Beyoncé - Single Ladies (and other songs that I wouldn't admit that I listen to :)

  3. Nerd Fitness is huge on Paleo. I think they have a cell phone app to help you determine what is/isn't. For the people that follow it there I've never really seen anyone saying that they're 100% Paleo. Normally they'll say that they do 80-85%. I like it for encouraging people to let themselves go from processed foods, but I don't see the evils of legumes so much.. and I think yogurt is pretty healthy for us. Mark's Daily Apple is a good website to get more info on it too.

  4. Try to use some smaller dishes too to help out. It will help make your portions look less tiny. I'm probably eating a bit quicker than I should, but it's definitely way slower than it used to be. I was borrowing my nephew's baby spoons & while they helped "train" me a bit on bite size I'm pretty much good with a normal teaspoon now.

  5. My doctors' offices can't seem to get my height right.. but now you're making me paranoid lol. December they said 5'8 with a good amount of comfort space into that.. my physical less than a month ago.. they say 5'6 .. pre-admissions they get me at 5'7, but I was wearing shoes. I've heard about people losing a shoe size with weight loss.. but height?

  6. Before you buy/pack too much, yes check with your hospital as to what they want you/don't want you to bring along. For me, they basically wanted me to show up in some comfortable clothes & that was it. They gave me a toothbrush, paste, mouthwash & comb. If I had brought any meds (including gas-x strips) they would have had to been reviewed & approved. As for the bariatric lunch bag, it might by like the special tray I was getting (and not touching lol). They left out their menu, which included a section with a clear liquid diet.. but bariatric patients were only allowed to get a tray delivered with some Jello & broth. I was only bummed because I really wanted some ice tea & my surgeon said ok. I guess down at the café the only ice tea was the canned stuff with sugar in it.

  7. I'm still in the beginning stages of healing my stomach, so I can't discuss how it feels to eat again I suppose. However.. things that we were told to keep in mind prior to surgery. There isn't anything that you can't have again. You might not feel the same about it, and you may find new things that you enjoy more. Enjoy foods at celebrations, but there is more to the celebration than the food. You will need to find other ways to cope with stress & sorrows. You know that these times will come, prepare yourself with ideas of alternatives. Some of us have reached this point in our lives because we used food to cope. It has not helped us. It has hurt us.

  8. When we started our post surgical diets we were told to only use supplements that were either whey Protein isolate or soy protein isolate. The NUT said that the reason for this is that they included all the essential amino acids that we would require to build protein. They wanted it to be the first ingredient on the list under the nutritional information. They also wanted us keeping an eye on the sugar and fat.

  9. I watch food Network/Cooking Channel/Create (Cable PBS) for my cooking shows. After the sleeve I was alright to watch my Jacques Pepin just fine ;) They're fun for some ideas, but at this point they don't make me hungry. After surgery I was watching Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel which I've always found interesting. My Mom thought I was using it to swear off food :b I enjoy British shows too. The only thing with the weight loss ones is that they like to use weight in "stones" and I'm always like... "so.. is that good?" lol

  10. Well it may/may not be related, but I'll share a story from my weight loss attempt 3 years ago. I was diagnosed with diabetes & lost a fair amount of pounds without a short amount of time (about 50-60 within 4 or so months). One day I put on my glasses and the world was blurry & to say that I freaked out was minor. I ran to the doctor & basically it had been due to osmotic changes with my blood sugar. Diabetes can be hell on your eyes. The good news is that 1. it was temporary & 2. it was a sign that I was getting some repairs done as opposed to damage. So, although they've probably considered already looking at it.. maybe it's due to blood sugar changes? Although, with my story the thing I hadn't noticed is that my vision without my glasses had temporarily improved. So, maybe not.
