    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

What would you consider a lower BMI? Would I qualify or do I need to wait awhile yet?

    Port incision size

Mine is 1 1/2" in length. Four others a very tiny. Can't wait for them to fade more.
  3. I use the silicone gel as well as the sheets. The gel might be easier to apply on the longer incisions.
  4. Congratulations. Thanks for the encouragement. I know I'll get there as well.
  5. Almost at my new years day goal of 175! Just 3 more days. Hopefully I'll get that 2 lbs off. If not I am still happy because I experienced the miracle of losing wt. over Christmas.
  6. I'm Canadian and I will be claiming my surgery. Revenue Canada will ask to see the receipts. As long as we have the receipts it is fine.
  7. I had over 4 cc put in during surgery and then removed 1 week later because I was way too filled with postop swelling. The surgeon stated that it was loose with that much in. I had my first fill with 2cc and then she took 1cc out because fluids hesitated. I have had my second fill a week ago with another .3cc. So now I have 1.3cc in and so far it is perfect. Apparently they usually bring your first fill to 4cc, so my small amount isn't much. We are all so different! I usually feel a bit congested and get a runny nose as my sign that I am full. I love where I am right now. I can enjoy a small plate of whatever food I want as long as I chew well. I am not hungry between meals. It is just wonderful. I am expecting to see the scales move now after hesitating for a few weeks. Good luck everyone.
  8. I did meet my Christmas goal (barely) of being in the 170's. I may just meet my New Year's goal as well.
  9. bandster 107: I know what hard times are. I live in a seperate house from my husband most of the time. Once you get your fills, things will be much better. Hang in there a bit longer.
  10. Julie: you really are taking the fear out of surgery for me. I know that I will need some PS but have been terrified. You really are an inspiration. The inner thigh lift is what I am going to need for sure. Do they always cut down your leg? I thought the incision was along the top of the leg?

    So THIS is restriction...

It is amazing how so little can go a long way. I had 1cc in my 10cc band, which isn't very much and just had .3cc put in on Tuesday. I feel just perfect. I hope it lasts. I fill up nicely. I can still enjoy any food, I am not hungry in between. If this does me for the duration, I'm dancing.
  12. I have no idea what these garments are or what they are like but can you cut the crotch out of it for bathroom use? Just a thought

    thats incredible! great job

    runny nose

That is my soft spot as well. I also feel a little congested and cough a bit. I lost it for awhile but after getting my first fill it came back.

    no more plus sizes

I was going to wait until after Christmas to buy some clothes as my pants are so loose that I can pull them down without unbuttoning them. Liz Clayborne had a great one day sale- everything 40% off. Well I bought and can fit into a size 16!!! Bought a size med and a size large top as well (fit!). No more X or XL or 1X. Yahoo.

    Feeling depressed...

Do you think your doctor will reconsider and book you in before Christmas? Call and see.

    no more plus sizes

For me this was the biggest goal and one of the main reason for getting banded. I know health reasons etc. are the worthy goals, but secretly- I must be very vain because I have always hated shopping in plus stores. I see such lovely things every where and could never wear them. This is a dream come true. (its been more then 25 years). Losingjusme: You'll get there, start saving now. I have alot more weight to loose, so I had to really restrain myself and walk away before I spent needlessly.
  18. My goal for this month is to be in the 170's. To be more consistent with excercise- I am aiming for 3x week- every week. I would love to be at 175 for New Years. 6 lbs may be a stretch but hey- I can try!
  19. That sounds wonderful. I have a 10cc band as well and I have 1cc in it. I will get another fill in 2 weeks. I don't want much more maybe .5 or 1 cc at the most. I have fairly good restriction but I only want to eat 1100-1200 calories. Right now I can eat 1200-1400 calories.

    Weight Loss Totals

Ghost: I haven't had much weight loss in the last 3 weeks. I'm not exercising much. I have got to get my butt in gear. I think the more you need to lose the faster it goes off. The closer to goal the harder the work. You've done amazing but I understand how it can get discouraging to get the last 10 lbs off. How do you feel after your PS? How nice to have a flat tummy!

    NSV & My Birthday!

That was one of my main goals for having this done- I will never step into a plus size store again!!

    Weight Loss Totals

My goodness Ghost, if anyone needs to be jealous its me. You are dong fantastic. I am so proud of you! I have been following your PS thread. I can't wait to get close enough to get my legs done.
  23. The inamed band has fluid put into it during surgery. Mine had 4.2 cc but then I had it removed as I was way too tight. I wasn't getting enough nurtrition and had a horrible fist in my chest. I decided to get a fill at 7 weeks because my intake was 1500-1600 cal/day and more on some days. I wasn't starving and probably could have managed without a fill if I was more active. They put 2cc in and then took 1cc out as fluids were hesitating. Fluids still hestitate a bit before going down but I can eat okay. I may get another tiny fill as my intake can be 1300-1400 per day. I want to be at 1100-1200 for a slow steady weight loss. I travel alot and my excercise is sporatic. I'm probably one who doesn't need a fill. I think the weight of the band itself was working for me. I just decided to get the fills. They told me at the surgeons office that the first fill is to bring you up to 4 cc, I would be surprised if I ever need that much, but time will tell.

    Did you Tell your Kids???

I had to tell my kids. They are 17, 20, 22. It was impossible to hide my preop dieting and my daughter had to take me to and from my surgery. If I could have hidden it from them, I may have but I'm not sure if that would have been wise relationship wise.

Were you sure it wouldn't work?

I went into this knowing that it will work at least for some of the weight loss that I would need but not sure I will loose it all. And a little terrified I would have complications and then the band would have to come out and then I'd gain it all back. With all my past failures at dieting, I had given up and haven't dieted in years. Who wants to do all that work to see the pds come marching back with their friends in tow? As far as telling people, I would rather have not told anyone at all. But we are not an island and it is impossible to keep it a secret from everyone. So my husband and children know as well as my brother and SIL- all sworn to secrecy! I am a private person in many ways. WLS is drastic to me. It may not be to many here, so please don't be offended, but for me it is. I guess it is a matter of that darn pride. I just didn't want people to know how desperate I was, that I would resort to such a drastic measure. The thought of people knowing and gossiping and talking about it- horrifies me. But that is me. Wasa congratulations for getting to goal- how much did you loose?
