  1. Ok, I'm freaking out; I live on Bingham, too!!! OMG. I'm on the corner of Bingham and Higton! Hi, neighbor!!!!!
  2. Yep! I'm right by Doxey Park. We've seen your gorgeous Dane walked on Union/Northgate! We'll have to meet up and let the dogs play so we can talk about surgery!
  3. I think I've seen him being walked by our house?!? We rescued our girl (about 140 lbs) in Dec 2012; she's 19 months old! She needs training...badly. ????
  4. One month post-op appointment: down 26 pounds! Total loss of 67 pounds since last year. HW: 313, SW: 272, CW: 246 Next goal set by surgeon: 56 more pounds in 5 months. Whew, hope I can do it.
  5. OMG...I have a Great Dane, too! Lol
  6. Recovery was better than expected; returned to work after only a week off! My surgeon, Dr. Boghossian did require some weight loss before he would schedule surgery, but he took into consideration any weight loss within the last year so two weeks after the orientation, when I met with him one-on-one, he said I had already met my surgery weight loss goal! (I had lost 24 pounds in the year before attending the orientation). So, during the next 4 weeks, I met the mental health and nutrition requirements. Everyone was really helpful with getting me in quick knowing I had already met goal weight. Finally, at 5 weeks out, I'm feeling more energetic and have lost 26 pounds since surgery. It's amazing to see the transformation.
  7. Sleeved on 4/23, lost 23 pounds so far, but stalled at that loss for 4 days now!
  8. I unpacked some clothes from storage that I haven't been able to wear in 7 years & they were a little big! That is so fun!!!
  9. Sleeved 4/23/13 with a starting weight of 273. I'm down 23 pounds and currently in a stall. I still get dizzy if I stand too quickly, but feel pretty good most of the time!
  10. Had surgery Tues and going back to work this Wed. I warned my boss that it may only be for half a day. I took like 2 naps today and its only 3:20 pm!
  11. I'm now POPD4 and feeling fatigued, but overall pretty good. I've had no problems keeping protein shakes down 2 oz. at a time, but sipping on anything throughout the day is difficult. I just don't feel like putting anything in my mouth. I'm happy to say I finally had a BM last night and today (sorry if TMI, but I was worried about constipation with sore abdominal muscles!!!). Unlike others, it's actually helped me to look up recipes for the future. Doctor has me on water and shakes only for two weeks, but looking and planning on future "meals" is helping me through this phase.
  12. Sounds like your husband is very insecure and scared. I hope things get better!
  13. I'm sorry to hear this. Your spouse is supposed to be your biggest supporter. Have you talked to him and let him know how you feel? It sounds like you need to have a heart-to-heart conversation with him and let him know exactly how he is making you feel and it's not ok. Maybe he doesn't realize how it's affecting you. ((Hugs))
  14. How's everyone doing? I had surgery Tues and came home today. Little scare Tues nite when my heart rate stayed around 39-42, but EKG came back fine. I kept down 18g of protein today and feel pretty good with that. Also had a hiatal hernia fixed, which is what I think most of my discomfort is coming from.
  15. I'm officially sleeved! Boy, oh, boy! This abdominal discomfort is no joke. "Oh nurse! Time for more pain meds!"
  16. The day has finally arrived. Nervous, nervous, nervous!
  17. Wow, so inspiring! I can't wrap my head around losing that much weight at all, much less in that amount of time. I pray I have similar results!
  18. I've bought EAS at costco. I'm a chocoholic, but actually like the Premier Protein vanilla better than the chocolate (also at Costco). You can add sugar free torani syrups to them to adjust the flavor, too. 160 calories, 40g protein and less than 1g of sugar.
  19. I'm on day day 9 of my 14-day pre-op diet (800 calories or less/day) and feel most fatigued at night. Are you all taking your vitamins like you should? And getting in your water? Even mild dehydration will fatigue you, make you irritable or weepy.
  20. I lost 24 on my own since last April and then another 16 during the last month preparing for surgery this Tues! It's amazing what you can do when you are truly motivated.
  21. Hi! I was referred by my PCP to attend the bariatric orientation in Fresno (tried Fremont 5 years ago and wasn't ready and have heard good referrals about Fresno) on 3/1/13. Met with the surgeon on-on-one 3/13/13, NUT on 3/19/13, MH on 3/27/13, pre-op with surgeon on 4/5/13 and I have surgery scheduled this Tues, 4/23/13! My process has been super fast. No 12-week supervised diet. My surgeon took into account 24 pounds I had lost over the course of the last year and I already met my goal weight on 3/13. Kaiser called me 4/17 with my surgery time and then called today to pre-admit me. No co-pay either. Everything has really fallen into place. Only 5 more days until surgery! ????
  22. I carry a shake in my purse at all times! One week on the liquid diet and no breakdown yet. Luckily, my husband and kids are all very supportive (husband is also going through the process, but is 3 months behind me). My biggest issue is to not eat and drink at the same time. I'm really bad at it, but I figure I'll learn one way or the other; surgery in one week!
  23. Yes! 4/23/13 for me, too. The last few days I've only eaten between 500-700 calories. So crazy how satisfied we can be on so little, isn't it? One more week!!!!
  24. I had to take 4 quizzes that measure mental health/issues, etc., and then sit down with a psychologist. She wanted to check readiness and see how you are with criticism. She also asked about your support system. It was a breeze. Just relax and be honest. If they think you need further evaluation, embrace it. It's for your own benefit. Good luck!
