Very much like gooddaybetty, my arthritis (stage 4 knee chondromalacia) and infertility I believe is wrapped up in my weight. We've tried for 2 years to have kids and I've always wanted a big family, 4 kids, and having watched all of my friends pop out kids with nothing we're up for IVF. THEN my nurse friend said i may not respond to the drugs because your hormones are tied up in fat (they are fat soluable), I looked into how to lose weight via lap band, found so many bad reviews about it but also found GREAT reviews about the sleeve and had my surgery 2 weeks later with Dr Quinones (he teaches the procedure to other docs & was a chief of surgery for 3 years, unlike most other docs).
I hated my photos - always couldn't believe that was me, GROSS!. Now I feel like my knees will last longer without all the weight and I have a good shot at IVF in April. I'm hoping for twins. Wish me luck everyone xx

I don't think I had just one straw but rather several that finally did it for me. I realized that while I had dropped 50 lbs over the course of a year, with a great diet and massive amounts of exercise. Life's schedule got in the way again.. battling depression etc.. weight came back on over time. I've probably gained back 30-35 of the lbs so far.
There are three people I care for more than anything in the world.
    We all have our reasons.
Mine more than justify my decision to get this done.
    Good luck all

Hi Kelli, to help with Iron absorption you need to have Vitamin c. Get the dr &/or dietician to check your Vit C intake.
Hi all, just an update with me - I'm 12 days post op and are down by 8 kg's. just missed out by 200 gms to get to double figures. That's my goal for this week to get to 10 kg's loss. I've lost 6 cm's of my butt as well - Whoo hoo!
The only bad thing is I've done my back and been laid up since Monday. It's slowly getting better but it will take time.
I hope everyone is going well
    Cheers Sue

I am in the hospital right now, been post op for for close to 20 hours now. A little sore but not too bad. However, going almost 30 hours without Water is KILLING ME! I'm going down for my swallow test hopefully within an hour. After it's done, then and only then will I be able to drink. This is torture, the thirst is worse than any pain right now.

Hi everyone, speedy recovery to those who have had surgery and good luck to all March Sleevers. I started my pre op diet 02/22/13 and have lost 2.2 kg in one week. Was quiet blown away with that as I thought I hadn't lost any weight.
Continuing with the diet but did laps yesterday, went 50 calories over my limit. My surgeon has put me on a 1000 calorie diet as he wants me to have one meal of meat & veggies or salad. I've been doing this surprisingly well. Started my regular pre op walking today. Really enjoyed the walk in the warm Aussie sun with the dogs. Getting a bit nervous about Friday, but also quiet excited as I know I will succeed this time. I'm ready to face a life with a reduced stomach and for the next 3 months to eat to care for my sleeve so I don't get any post op complications

I am up this coming Tues March 5th, 11:50am on the O.R. schedule. I have managed very well on my pre-op, lost 11 pounds so far. I plan on taking my iPad in with me just so I can post here and I know for a fact that Valley has very good WiFi. You see I work there and I am the first person people call when they have computer problems!
I have been plugging along since October. I started my two week preop on Feb 19. Steadfastly doing what I need to do to prepare with little in mind other than following the rules.
But now that the real deal is only 3 days away, I'm starting to freak out. In a good way, sorta. The dreams are starting and I am getting those terrible butterflies that I used to get before going on stage.
That kinda freak out. It's really happening, you know?

All I can say is do your homework to make sure you decide for yourself. Take advice from those who have actually used them, whether the wraps have worked for them or not. I can honestly tell you from my own experience I have lost inches and they have not come back as well as my stomach used to look like an Arkansas road map and now you can't even find the scars from my surgery and my stretch marks are almost non-exsistant.

If you do the right ones they will. A lot of them just reduce Water weight. I use the ones from It Works! Global called the Ultimate Body Applicator and I love them. I have lost 170 lbs so far and I've got barely any hanging skin. My stretch marks are very light as well and my scars from the surgery are almost completely gone. I used the products for 4 months and loved them so much I became a consultant. If you would like more info on them please let me know because they really do work great and I'm hoping I don't need to do any skin removal.

    Hi Sue,
I'm not sure , my surgeon has me on 3 kick start shakes plus 2 cups of veggies/salad a day.
The kick start shakes are equivalent to opti fast only they actually taste really yummy
So ur surgery is the 8th, that's great we can help each other a long if you like? We are both getting close now! Are you excited or nervous? How are you going on pre op diet have you lost anything yet? I've been on it for 3 days and I'm down a kilo, strangely I'm not hungry or craving chocolate at all, which is a blessing as I am used to eating a family block a night, how bad is that ... I just couldn't get enough of it. I've heard people say after surgery they don't crave sweets at all so here's hoping 
Have you read skinny jeans? Someone in another thread posted about it, I downloaded it, it's about vsg surgery it's a good read and has some helpful hints in it.

Hhmmmm.... You guys all keep your scales in the bathroom? I keep mine next to the fridge, in the kitchen. I jump on the scales every time I go to the fridge or pantry and then decide wether I should eat anything or not. My scales have a name, its "I-hate-you" because I call it that every time I see the same number or god forbid, an increase.

Aussie reading your story just broke my heart. I feel the same as most on here. What broke the camels back for me was realizing that I just didnt love myself anymore. I had given up on losing weight and on life really. One day I woke up and remembered that my family loves and needs me nomatter what I weigh. I knew it was time to really do something about it. So that someday I will be here for when I have grand children and when 2 of my children get married. Also for my husband, I promised him we would grow old together.
