Healthier2day1227 got a reaction from AnnaMaria in One year surgiversary!
Yesterday was my one year surgiversary of the sleeve. I was so nervous about it, but it was one of the best decisions I've made. I've lost 131 pounds and counting. My foot pain is gone, I'm active and feel great. I've gone from a size 22 to an 8 and actually enjoy shopping now. I'm able to do any activities my kids ask of me. I couldn't be happier!

You will get along fine without it, and will feel much better. I had mine out in 1973, back when they cut you half in two, but I never did have any serious digestion problems after the removal. The gall bladder helps you digest fat, so just be careful not to eat anything too greasy, rich, or spicey for a while. I did have "ghost pains" for a few weeks, but that wasn't anything I couldn't handle. You will be surprised at how much better you will feel in a few days.

Just had mine removed due to WLS and things are so much better. The attacks were horrible. You will be fine. Reintroduce food slowly and avoid fatty foods and you will be ok! Good-luck!

Yes I admit it! I had no health issues going in besides obese, but no other complications so I will admit I was motivated by sheer vanity! And I love shopping now, there are so many better options. And I don't hide from the camera I even take selfies lol!

Healthier2day1227 got a reaction from BeagleLover in Questions about diet after surgery...
It sounds like you are right on track. I don't eat refined carbs either. But I do get carbs from fruit and Beans. I eat either Greek yogurt or a scrambled egg for Breakfast. lunch either chili, chicken Soup or a chicken breast on top of greens. dinner I eat what I make for the family but not the starch. So if I make them turkey burgers, for example, I just eat the patty and Tomato. If I have an evening snack it is usually fruit or string cheese. I often supplement with a Protein Shake if I'm low. I average about 900-1100 cal per day, 90 G Protein and 40 g carb. I've lost 130 pounds and am 6 pounds from my personal goal.

Healthier2day1227 reacted to Georgia Pritchett in Has anyone tried paleo?
I have not lost weight on Paleo (I am pre-surgery) but for once in my adult life, my cholesterol levels are good. The post surgery diet doesn't scare me because I am already eating very close to that.

I like a lot of the tenets of paleo (well, primal because I'm not giving up dairy) and use many of the various paleo blogs for recipes, but I wouldn't say I'm ever going to go totally paleo. I do think that a lot of the recipes fit very well with a post-surgery eating plan.

I've lost 120 with the sleeve and have a healthy BMI finally. My surgeon says I'm at goal but I just want to lose 5 more so I have wiggle room lol. I tried to get my doctor to give me phentermine but she instead suggested surgery so here I am! Good luck it is totally possible to achieve your goals with this surgery.

I feel the same way! so glad to read others have the same feelings. Thanks for posting!
Soup is my friend! I can eat it slowly but eat enough (over time) to be content and still feel I am getting good Protein and veggies! Is it ok to eat it often? I dont know what the valve talk means. PDX man can you expand on this?
    Thanks!!

Soups are poor indicators of restriction as the liquid content helps signal the pyloric valve to open and the contents of your stomach begins to empty into your intestines. How is your restriction if you have a piece of chicken or a grilled ground turkey patty?
