  1. thanks I think maybe I'm just rushing to eat real food. I can't stand the Protein drinks and I'm getting burnt out on greek yogurt any sugestions on Protein.< /div>

Don't rush it. Take your time and listen to your body when you do eat. I know it's hard with the Protein shakes. My doc actually doesn't want me drinking them anymore.

I eat a lot of tilapia. I love it and it has lots of protein. I squeeze lime on it and a little salt and pepper. chicken is good too. I love getting tandoori chicken cause it's very tender and easier to eat. A slow cooker is great it makes all meat softer and easier to eat.

I also eat hamburger no bun. I make it myself of course I weigh it out make sure I'm eating 2 oz (pretty much all I can eat of red meat) I don't like red meat very much buy I do enjoy hamburger :)

  2. Ruthie how long did it take you to be able to eat soft food without pain?
About a month after surgery I started eating regular food (doctor approved) I was fine no pain. The only time I actually felt pain is about a month ago I had lettuce and felt I guess not pain but very uncomfortable feeling in my tummy.

I Only ate what was recommended such as Proteins first then everything else follows. Of course after 2 bites I was full and had no room for anything else.

  3. Great! Thanx I am not that off track lol. By the way am starting to shrink my self lol. I measure "5'1" now lol.. And a far as the my fitness pal I do not know how to add ppl. My name is muneca1029. Thank you for your response! PS. Today I weighted myself and I weighted 179!!! I'm so happy :D I never thought this would work the way it's been I thought it was going to be another "diet" but it's not is a lifestyle and I'm loving it.

That's awesome! I added you to myfitnesspal :)

I thought it was going to be another "diet" too! Congrats on the weightloss! We have to remember that sometimes there will be weeks that our weight doesn't move but we have to keep positive!

  4. The reason I ask is because I I'm 5'2 and my starting weight was almost the same as you. 225 and I wish to have the same results as u but I'm two months out and I'm at 185 so far ( I'm not complaining' date=' I love my results so far).. Just curious what do you eat on a daily basis?[/quote']

It's hard to not compare ourselves to others. As others have said everyone loses weight differently. Don't be to hard on yourself when you see others drop faster.

I eat between 659-900 calories a day. No bread no Pasta and I only drink Water and sometimes the low cal Gatorade. Lots of fruits and veggies and lots of fish, chicken and lots of eggs, mainly egg whites. I weigh all my food and I log all my food on myfitnesspal. If you have a myfitnesspal feel free to friend me :) myfitnesspal name is ruthiecoyne

My food diary is public. Feel free to message me anytime too on myfitnesspal

I allow myself to eat on occasion a special treat if I'm craving something last night I had a small slice of pizza. I try walking for exercise but exercise is what I struggle with.

  5. I'm almost 4 months out and doing well. I've lost almost 74 pounds and my hair is falling out :-/ Other then that doing well! Feeling great! Still have energy issues but I know in due time I will feel 100% Glad everyone is doing well as well :)

My start weight 230 Current weight 156 my goal is 135.

  6. I don't know quite how to explain this. There have been a few occasions now where I feel like I am "eating air" – I'm not sure how else to describe it but' date=' when I sit down to eat, it's almost as if my body needs to release the air or I can't actually eat. I am 3 1/2 weeks postop and am eating soft foods now… It's like I have to burp several times and it's difficult to do that. I never burp or I have never had to before. I don't know that makes any sense at all… Does anybody else had this type of experience? Where you have air that needs to escape your stomach or what have you? Thanks for anybody's help or input, Natalie[/quote']

I get it all the time. I'm almost 4 months post op. And I think I feel it more now then I did at the beginning. Not sure what's going on though.

  7. Great post!!!

I agree this post is very helpful! Loved it!

I too am trying to increase my calories.

Thanks for starting this thread! Everyone's thoughts were very helpful as well! I lost weight I think very rapidly. I lost 70 pounds in 3.5 months and I'm 25 pounds away from my goal of 135. I felt like I need to start increasing my calories little by little but was so afraid to do it! Especially since I'm only 3.5 months post op.

  8. II am trying to gain some realistic stats for the weight loss. I would really like your help. Please provide: 1. Height 2. Starting highest weight 3. Surgery weight 4. Goal weight and/or current weight 5. Length of time to reach goal weight 6. Age I know we should not compare ourselves to others' date=' however I am interested in the standard deviation and mean of weight loss in comparison to height. There are so many that feel like slow losers, and I am wanting to really look into the numbers. Is it really a slow loss, or are you right on track based on weight loss percentages. ;)[/quote']

    1. 5'5

    2. 230

    3. June 17, 2013

    4. Goal weight: 135 and current weight 160

    5. Have not reached goal weight yet but I'm aiming by December

    6. I'm 39 :)

  9. I agree with JessicaAnn. Be patient. Don't work out for 3 hours a day. I don't think that's healthy. Just workout normal, get your Protein in and don't focus on the scale. Focus on healthy. Start those healthy eating habits now. Some propel lose weight right away the first months and others steadily lose and others stall and lose stall and lose....we all lose differently :)

    Hang in there! :)

  10. My doctor told me I can eat between 800-1000 calories. I am 3 months out and have been sticking to 800. I feel like it's not enough anymore and tempted to move up to 900. My question is with 800 I have been eating between 650-850 and been losing about 1-2 pounds a week. Do you think if I increased to 900 it will slow my weightloss? I already lost almost 70 and I have a little less then 30 pounds to get to my goal and I don't want to ruin the steady pace I have been having. The bulk of my weight loss was the past 2 months this month has been slower but I'm happy. I hope I don't sound paranoid or goofy lol

Thanks in advance for advice tips and opinions!

  11. Wish i could see the difference in pictures. Took my daughter apple picking over the weekend and my sister in law snapped a photo of me while i wasnt looking. After seeing it' date=' my entire confidence level shot straight to the floor. I've lost about 30 pounds and was happy with my progress until i saw that darn photo. I still saw the me 30 lbs ago. It kind of felt like i'm working so hard and its not even paying off even though i KNOW that it is... . think its time to work on the negative self images and stop being my own worst critic.[/quote']

Pictures for me I try to avoid as well! I don't mind profile pics but full body pics are a no go for me as well. I seriously think our mind is projecting the image we used to see!

  12. Fantastic on your 70 lbs! Did you follow the diet and exercise program or make your own' date=' I'm newly sleeved and would love to achieve numbers like that. As for self image, do you attend your post surgery group classes or no. I wonder if those would help you see that what you feel is normal, that people who have lost large amounts of weight have a problem seeing the thinner new person. If seeing pictures helps you see this, then maybe you should post pictures of you thinner everywhere so you train your mind to say, see I am this person now and help with the current self image you have. No one is perfect and we are all unique. Great job you are an inspiration now.[/quote']

I followed the docs diet until he gave me the go ahead to eat regular food which was about a month after my surgery. I strictly eat nutritious Proteins such as chicken lots of fish and veggies and fruits. I eat low carb low sugar BUT I do treat myself often to frozen yogurt and I are 1 slice of my favorite pizza. One slice is all I could fit. I avoid red meat because it makes my tummy hurt.

As for exercise I try to walk as much as possible I have a fitbit Bracelet to motivate me but I haven't seriously committed to an exercise program yet. I need to because my rear end is looking a mess!

  13. I don't have an answer' date=' but I feel the same way. I had surgery in July, and I'm 63ish lbs down, but I still see the same old me. I went from a size 26 to a 17/18, but I can't see it :([/quote']

JessicaAnn I'm sorry you are going through it as well. Just good to know we are not the only ones that feel this way. It's helps hearing others express what they are going through.
