    fear and the food addiction

Bethechange, if you figure out or learn the answer to this you can retire on the millions you will make! Don't hate me, but eating has just never been a pastime for me, it's a necessary evil. I'm fat because I am truly starving all the time (and my feet are messed up so I have mobility issues). I have joked that I wish someone would invent people kibbles so I wouldn't have to bother thinking about it. That being said, I know so many people with weight problems that would have to get over their dependent relationship with food and eating to even think about losing weight. I don't even recommend the sleeve for these folks and I doubt they would want it. I don't have any good advice but I hope others will jump in.
  2. This year spring just cant get here! Stupid snow. I thought by scheduling late in March it would be the one thing I wouldn't have to worry about, but I'm watching the weather like a farmer. Amanda, you sound in good spirits so hang in there and get home safe.
  3. Thanks! I have been a faithful Vit. E user and I always wondered if Mederma worked (it's wicked expensive!). I will get some Bio Oil and we keep antibiotic ointment handy. Keeping the skin soft while healing makes sense!
  4. Ok, we better double down on the prayers and healing vibes. So sorry the journey home has been bumpy! You will make it though. When you have a minute, let us know when you are home safe, yes? (jeez, i sound like a mom....)
  5. Thanks for the photos Armywife! My gut is the first thing I want to lose! I heard you had some tips for dealing with the scars? Could you re-post that info? Congrats!

    Freaking out!

This would so happen to me! I'm getting sleeved in less than a week and crud is going around at work so I've bumped up my Vit. C. So far, so good.
  7. Xanax is pretty strong stuff, I don't see how it could NOT help you. Be careful though, it can be addictive and some have "rebound" anxiety when they quit taking it. But just this short time on it shouldn't be a problem.

    Consipation

My guts laugh at Miralax......Dulcolax works for me (start with just one tab tho!)
  9. These are great videos, they helped me make the decision to go with Dr. Garcia. Thanks for posting them Liz!
  10. Best of luck and thanks to infinity for the pics! I will be down there next week and this was very reassuring - especially for my hubby! I'm sure you'll do great!
  11. Love and Light and Healing Wishes coming your way my dear! Sorry you had an incident, you didn't need that right now. Safe travels, you will feel much better when you get back home.
  12. I thought about you today Amanda, so I'm glad you feel well enough to post and even take pics! This is a good sign. Happy you're being treated well. Congratulations!!!

    Blood clots

Omg,omg Amy! You knew something wasn't right didn't you? Thank god this was diagnosed before something really horrible happened. Sending love and light.
  14. Can I relate? Oh Yeah. That's why I ditched the whole insurance circus and researched going to Mexico. I'm getting sleeved March 28 and the experience so far has been like heaven compared to what goes on here and trying to get insurance to cover me. You are treated like a valued, adult client. At a little more than the cost of one sleep study, I am getting the surgery, two nights in a full service hospital and 2 nights recovery at a Marriott, all tests, and any needed follow-up consultations by phone or email. Oh and my husband can be with me and only has to pay for his food. I hope things work out for you on your current path, but if it gets to be too much, at least consider Mexico......
  15. Amanda! You're almost there, after all this! Very happy for you and thanks for the Tom Petty earworm
  16. This is great to hear! Well not about the gas pain but that is/was fixable. Do check in when you are able, and I hope things continue to be good.

    LA Baby!

Clear and sunny in LA?!!? You scored! (used to live in So Cal from San Diego to Santa Barbara) I will chose to see this as a most excellent omen for the rest of your trip. Thanks for sharing and may the force be with you.
  18. Rest and walk and sip and please update us when you feel up to it. Congratulations!!
  19. Yay! I'm going the day before you w/Dr Garcia, so will see you there with Cindy and Deborah! Glad you jumped aboard!

    Easter in Mexico!

I will do pre-op for one week so haven't really started yet, just cutting back on carbs for now. I bought some Isopure today to start getting used to it. I've been using protein/whey powders for years so that's nothing new. I'm thinking about telling my daughter this weekend why I won't be here for Easter. She won't like it but I can totally trust her not to blab. It's one of her best qualities!

    So depressed....denied

VSG, I know the feeling. When I realized it would be a battle royale to get my insurance to approve me, I started to consider self pay and decided on Mexico. It took me four months to decide that and make an appointment but I feel really good about it. I'm getting sleeved on the 28th with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana. Don't give up!!!
  23. Thanks so much for the update! I love it that you feel like you're eating all the time but it's only 750 cal/day. :tongue2: I'm afraid I will find the sip sip way of drinking annoying as well. I'm used to drinking lots of Water so I tend to swig it. I'll have to be careful......
  24. I just asked about this on another thread; I'm getting sleeved on the 28th and endoscopy has not been mentioned. I'm not going to bring it up either!
  25. Ok, so it's routine in some practices. I haven't heard a word about it from either my PCP or my surgeon. Interesting......
