  1. This is a great thread! I have always had the body dysmorphic issue. I have never seen (in my minds eye) myself as fat. So I avoided mirrors & pictures. Then when I did see a picture of myself I went into a tailspin. So I have been taking pictures of my face with my digital camera off & on since having this surgery & this morning is the first time I can really tell a difference. I actually look like myself! I think I will do my make-up today!! LOL! & my hair. I would attempt to post the pic but I have a bit of the bedhead. Maybe later. After I have make-up on. I do have a pic posted in my profile. It was taken in December at Christmas, right before I had surgery. Again, love this thread!
  2. Hey Robin! Welcome to Band land! I will be looking for your posts! We're all here for ya!......Jess
  3. No way!!!! I'm in Conway too!! Who did your surgery? Congrats by the way! Welcome to Band Land! Jack, Conway is in Arkansas............Jess
  4. First of all welcome to Band land! I live in Conway, Arkansas. I had my band done by Dr. Rex Luttrell in Little Rock. A friend of mine went in today for his consult for the band & he told him the price is $16,000. He does have a payment option. I paid cash for my surgery also. He gave me a professional discount because I work in the medical field. My surgery cost me $14,000. I hope this helps! I think there are other docs doing the surgery in Arkansas but I don't know their names. I have been seeing a Lap-Band clinic advertised on TV though. Maybe someone will know the name of it for you. Well good luck! & once again, welcome!......Jess

  9. We're all here to support you! You couldn't have picked a better place! I am so excited for you! I think that you will find the surgery a breeze! The worst part being the gas pain. Just remember to walk, use over the counter gas remedies (gas-x, simethicone, phazyme, beano, etc.), heating pad on the tummy, rolling around in the bed & the only thing that gave me relief.....glycerine suppositories! Once the gas passes (no pun intended...LOL) you're gonna feel great! This is the easiest surgery I ever went through! I didn't even use pain medicine after surgery.I was back to normal in about a week. Have you ever had surgery before? And remember, it is totally normal to be nervous before anykind of surgical procedure! Just keep reading the posts. They made me feel better than anything! ((((((hugs)))))............Jess
  10. I don't think I got the fear of losing my identity til after I had the surgery. But I'm okay now. It took me a while though. I think what you are feeling is normal though. If you didn't have those thoughts & feelings I would think you had issues. LOL! You came to the best place in the world for support though! The folks here are awesome & can answer just about any question or fear you have! Best of luck to you & welcome to Bandland!.....Jess

  23. Hello! At this point you probably have little to no restriction. Believe me when I say after a fill or two you will slow down. Also don't let yourself get too hungry. You tend to eat faster when you are really hungry. Hope this helps!.........Jess
  24. Dr. Rex Luttrell did my surgery & does my fills in Little Rock. Very nice man & easy on the eyes. He numbs you up before doing the fill. Don't know if he would fill you this early on though. I think he made me wait 4-6 weeks. I know he has done a port revision on a Mexico patient. I don't see him having a problem with it. Give him a call (501)552-4870. Good luck. They have also been advertising a Lap-Band clinic somewhere here in Arkansas. I have been seeing the commercials on TV the last couple of weeks. If I see it again I will post the name for you.............Jess
