  1. Thanks! Before surgery I had to do 3 weeks of clear sugar free liquids. It was awful, but i made it! It has been slow going for me, but at least I'm losing! Congrats on the 22 pounds Judy Ann! Since banding, or I guess I should say since I have gotten restriction, I just eat my Protein first & stop when I get full. I make sure I get at least 70 grams of protein a day. Even if that means I have to drink a Protein Shake.< /p>

  2. I guess both. I would ultimately like to achieve a even tan that is just healthy looking. I don't want to bake. When I tan with the sun, I look kind of mottled. It seems to me like the people I know that use the beds have beautiful even tans. Does that make sense?

  3. Never! LOL! I haven't even really "layed out in the sun" for probably 12 or 13 years. What I have gotten in the past 12-13 is from swimming in my Mom's pool. I just don't have that kind of time. To get a good tan in the pool I would have to swim at least 2-3 times a week & Mom lives 45 minutes away. Have you ever heard "distance makes the heart grow fonder"? I love my Mom, but good grief! We would drive each other crazy!

  4. I did the same thing right after I was banded. You are normal! Your scales will begin to go the other way again. I was told that your bowels are empty from being on liquids & as soon as you begin to bulk your diet up with mushies & other goodies, your bowels retain more solid waste. Face it, it weighs more! I know when I was on the Clear Liquids I was losing like crazy, but whenever I would drink my meal, I would be in the bathroom in a matter of minutes. The liquids go straight through you. The other goodies don't. Hang in there! It'll happen!!

  5. I've thought of a couple more questions. What do ya'll prefer? The stand up booth things or the beds that you lie down in? And also, how many visits would it take for me to begin to tan & not just burn. I see so many people burnt & when you ask about it they reply, "Oh, I just tanned!" I do tan easily, I just haven't done it for so long due to my own head demons. I won't even go there. I'm sure you all know what I am referring to. I recently bought a bathing suit that I just love! I have officially retired my old bathing suit (the only one I ever found that fit me in the old days). And do ya'll go buck naked or do you wear a suit? My Mom's best friend has a tanning bed that I can use. So I guess that wouldn't really be a big deal. Will I even fit in a tanning bed or booth? I'm still 270 lbs (5'4").

  6. WOW! Lots of responses with great info & opinions! Thanks! I think a tan makes you look slimmer too. I think that is what is appealing to me about it. That & the fact that it helps to camoflage (sp?) the stretch marks. I have them everywhere. They're in the bends of my arms & the backs of my knees! I hate stretch marks!!! At least they are not purple anymore. But I know they are there!! I guess if I decide to quit living off my husband (LOL!!) & go back to work, the tanning bed will be my best option. If I decide to remain a bum through the summer, I'll just hang out at Mom's pool. I don't want to be a mahogany color, just a little honey colored. I use to get fabulous tans when I was younger. Now I tan, but it has red undertones. Even when I'm not burnt. I'm hoping that was due to my high blood pressure. Since that's gone now, maybe I will get brown again. Thanks everybody!!!

  7. I had this happen 2 days ago. I was eating baked fish filets that my uncle had fileted with a electric knife. Before I knew it, I had swallowed a tiny little bone. I can't do bread, so that was not gonna be the answer! Lonnie told me to drink a little vinegar (old wive's tale that may work - I don't know). I did & 30 minutes later I hurled (straight vinegar is not good for my banded tummy). The good thing is that the bone came up. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience? I have been on liquids & mushies since that episode. I really baby my band!

  8. I don't think I can add anything to what everyone else has said. I'm sending big (((((HUGS))))) your ways! I just know everything will turn out alright for you. When life hands you cow patties, make compost!! Love ya Vines!!!! I'm keeping you & your family in my thoughts & prayers.
