When I was on pre op diet for band I was falling asleep at work. My a1c had been 5.2-5.4 for a while- I called the doctor and suggested to her that maybe I needed to get off my pills after she suggested I get more sleep. She agreed and my a1c is around 6.2 now but as long as it stays below 7 they consider me a diet controlled diabetic. I'm hoping with the sleeve that number of 6.2 will improve:). I'm 3 weeks post op and just getting my first blood work this week-keeping my fingers crossed:)

The first few days I pushed a pillow on my back so I could sleep a little to my side but not so much on the incisions. I add a little Metamucil to my Water intake which also does triple duty with my dry Vitamins and crystal lite. This helps me not get constipated and the vitamins help me heal faster.

I don't even notice except that I can't eat much. I was not scared to start drinking at all-I had problems with band from the git go. 4 1/2 years-my husband would get so frustrated and wanted it out because I threw up so much. The revision was not good. A lot of scar tissue-the band had herniated into the stomach and liver. But I am rebounding well and you will probably rebound even better.

The band will have to come out and causes many problems if not right off then eventually. Just had a revision.....I was not told that when I chose the band.

Just had surgery yesterday somebody please tell me this gets better I can't keep anything down and still feeling nausea. They are keeping me in the hospital tonight.I had to walk about three times the first day before the nausea and dizziness went away. My stomach was giving me problems because of gas I think but the more I walked the more that went away. Finally I had to force myself to drink the required amt after about 3 days or I would have been in there longer. Not because I couldn't but because I didn't have a desire. I am two weeks out and feeling good. Start your Vitamins as soon as you can probably after you get home. Mine are powdered and go in my Water with Metamucil and crystal lite-it totally made a big difference.

Elissa you are probably right. It has been a little while since I went to the orientation. I thought there was only 2 surgeons. I think I got a little confused. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Yes, was just at my two week ck-dr Harnisch said dr Dickerson just got back from deployment and hoped he would be able to join them in the operating room in a couple of weeks....

Not a lot but I try to take a powdered laxative like Metamucil in my Water to try to combat that-I'm two weeks out but the Protein Drinks can still do it to you.

PA Schroeder mentioned Dr Pfluke was deployed but due back soon and that he thought Dr Dickerson was next to deploy????

Hey' date='how is it going ?[/quote']
Pretty good Kali-soreness starting to go away-had a 6 hr surgery to fix band damage and move to sleeve. My husband was a wreck I was suppose to stay longer in the hospital but worked hard to get out and get my husband home. He got upset because the staff did not talk to him after the 3 hrs dr Harnisch said it would take to.do the operation. He was beating on doors till someone would come to tell him something:)
liquid diet is killing me:). Dr Harnisch was just as you said and more. Can't wait for a little more variety in food:). Since the band needed to come out and I live a ways from sa now so he did the surgery but I still have two more nutrition meetings to get in-one this Tues and one at my one month check. How about you-in your post you seem to be doing well. You are a really pretty girl and your kids are adorable.

I just had a revision. When I was getting the lapband I wanted it because it was reversible. Problem was 4 1/2 years out still couldn't get it to work for me. No one told me it would probably have to come out whether it worked or not so that never factored into my equation. When I would have it checked "nothing was wrong with it". But when my surgeon did my revision he thought it would take 3 hrs or less but took 6 hrs. The scar tissue had grown around the band so much it was starting to cut off the hole where food was suppose to go through. When he finally got it out he had to balloon the area up where the band had been to open it properly because it was squeezing it together and it was malformed. The sleeve was my second choice 4 1/2 years ago but I sure wish it had been my first. 4 1/2 years wasted.......:(

I was sleeved on the 15th and I know what your going through-I sometimes think about eating something I shouldn't but so far I am doing ok. Good luck!

A catheter is place if you are in surgery past the original 2-3 hrs. I had one in but it came out very quick and no pain-didn't even feel it-I have had longer ones though but they didn't hurt either. My doctor did not keep a drain in me-he says he never found them very useful.....

Hello, my surgery was 5/15/13. Reported at 9:30 for surgery but didn't get in until about 2:30. The doctor thought with the revision it should not take more than 3 hrs but it went 6 hours because the lapband had a lot of scar tissue and was cutting off the hole food went through so I guess it wasn't me that failed the lapband. My husband was a wreck as the staff stopped keeping him informed. The first morning my stomach didn't hurt at all then whatever the surgeon put in it to numb it wore off and none of the pain medicines worked for me. I could not bring myself to eat for the first two days so they took me off my drip line to kind of force me to drink. My husband wants me to drink even when I'm sleeping because he doesn't want the drip line back in and he is ready to go home. I have not bounced back so well after this surgery so even though I knew the band was coming out.....not so sure about the sleeve right now but what is done is done and I have to figure out how to make it work. Saw another lady here my age or a little older who just had the sleeve-she seemed to be doing well.

I have to check in at 5:30am. Have a feeling I'm not going to sleep much tonight anyways. This is my first surgery' date=' so it's a little nerve racking. I hope everything goes great for you and you have a fast recovery:) Good Luck![/quote']
Good Luck to you as well-I have had quite a few surgeries but the older I get the more I dread them. Check in when you feel up to it and I will as well:)

I just had a nutrition meeting-the NUT said in about 12 month the stomach starts talking to the brain and will bring old hunger back but you have to stay on your plan? Sounded like head hunger would really kick in again.
