  1. It has been a while since I've checked in. In the last month I did a 34 mile charity ride here in LA. I am still looking for other "banders" in LA to ride with.

I am training to do the MS 75 mile ride in September. Is there anyone in the So-Cal/Central Cal interested in doing it with me?

  2. I have lost 102 lbs, and I got the news yesterday at my adjustment that my doctor is going to apply to my insurance company to do a Pan-ectomy to help me loose all this extra skin and probably another 20-30 pounds of extra skin.

I have a co-worker here that has had the band for almost 3 years and she has lost over 300 lbs!!!!

  3. Hi KatieBee,

My wife has been in the same situation, and now that she has lost over 125 lbs people are starting to ask questions. She just tells most people that she has been on a "Diet". The ones that are really overweight and need help, she tells them about what she did, and gives them my business card. I also work at a Lap Band Surgery center. I have lost over 150 lbs since I started.

  4. It is under the skin. You'll never know you have it. I ride motorcycles, bicycles, etc and it does not effect me. I have changed my shirt in front of people that do not know that I had the surgery and they don't suspect that I've had the surgery.

    Don't worry about it.

  5. Freindship, that is an interesting topic. I have gained friends because they can relate to me to me as a thinner person. I have people that want to be my friends now because I'm thinner, but they did not like me when I was fat, so I don't want to be their friend now.

I have my "Fat Friends" who I hung out with when I was fat, but now some of them don't want anything to do with me now that I've lost 150 lbs. It's their loss.

My wife and I had the surgery 11 months ago, and life just keeps getting better. I don't know how it could get much better. I went from someone who did not like to have my photo taken to someone who has starred in a commercial that shows on TV several times a day. I was featured in a program that will be on the Style Channel next spring. I look better, feel better, and can now shop for clothes where "Normal" people shop. Yeah it's pretty bad. LOL

  6. You can keep that Snow! I am going to go ride my bike this weekend. I think it is freezing and it is going to be in the Mid-60's this weekend. I'll take California any day! If I want to go to the snow, I can be there in 45 minutes. If I want to go to the Beach, I can be there in 30 minutes. Oh paradise is lovely this time of year.

  8. I thought that I was the only one feeling like this. For a man of 50 yrs old I should be loosing my sex drive, but that is definitely not the case. I am driving myself crazy!

Unfortnately my wife who had surgery the same day is not having the same effects.

I don't know what to do. Sex is all I seem to be thinking about. Everytime I see a woman that is the first thing that comes to mind. I guess that I should be happy at least that it is what I think about when I see women and not men if you know what I mean.

I guess that I will have to keep taking matters into my own hands if you know what I mean.

  9. Hi Nikki,

Just take a deep breath and enjoy the holidays. You are giving youself the best holiday gift ever.

My wife and I had lap band surgery 1/23/07. It has been the most amazing thing. I know it is a lot of money, but just on what you save on food you will be amazed. They estimate that your food bill goes down 60%!

That is not to mention that you will feel so much better, look better, and others will coment on how much better you look.

In my case after surgery and loosing so much weight I was offered and took a better job that pays more.

    Good luck.

  10. I would expect this from women, but I've lost over 140 lbs (Between pre-surgery diet & post surgery) and I am driving my self crazy. It just feels so much better now. I've done a commercial for the surgery center that I work for and women are always coming up to me and telling me how much better that I look. It is like my sexual feelings have woken up.

The strange thing is that my wife and I had surgery on the same day, and she has not had the same sexual feelings. She has not lost near as much weight as I have. I am hoping as she looses more weight she will feel more sexual.

    It is driving me nuts.

  11. Hi Mike,

I've had my band for over 10 months and it is the best thing that I've ever done. I know that in the begining it is all a little overwhelming, but life just gets better when you are not controlled by food. It is weird when you're not the fattest guy in the room. Don't worry about the little things. Just go for it.
