  1. i get a lot of this ..... you arent big enough for weight loss surgery. what should i wait until i have a heart attack. im tired of explaining to people that i have other serious co morbidities that i need to do this for. obviously my insurance company thought i needed this, they approved me on the 1 st attempt and it took them less than a day to approve it!

  3. i had mine dec. 31st and am also going back to work after a 2 week recovery, im not sure how thats going to go either, im gettimg liquids in okay i just cant stomach the protein shakes and drinks. strange because i liked them all before surgery. i made some cream of potato soup amd am.sneeking the protein powder in there, dont know what else to do, today im going to try to sneak it in pudding? but im already down 12 pounds since surgery day and know i need to get that protein in for healing and continued weight loss
  4. I had my band in 2003 and I am having my revision to sleeve 12/31/ 2013 at 7:30 am , so another day and ahalf and I will be sleeved! Can't wait I'm so excited!
  5. my doctor doesnt have me on a liquid diet at all, i asked about it and they told me i can eat whatever i want the day before surgery, and just dont go too crazy and then do not eat or drink after midnight. i am scheduled dec. 31st also. i think i am going to start a liquid diet tomorrow anyhow just to feel better after over indulging on christmas
  6. tell me about it!! I am a bakery manager in a grocery store and having my surgery december 31st. i am hoping for a promotion where i will not actually be in the bakery every day but overseeing 20 of their bakerys. that way i wont be actually working in the bakery 8-10 hours a day!
  7. oh man, i can only pray this is how i react to sugar after my sleeve. I am a bakery manager, imagine that!
  8. just found out yesterday i have hpylori and started on antibiotics today. im allergic to penicillin so they put me on something called pylera. i have to take 3 capsules 4 times per day. i havent had a bad taste yet but ive only been on them one day. now my surgery might be postponed. very upset that they didnt test me earlier so i could have my surgery on time. on the brighter side im glad it was found, now that ive researched it i have had some of the symptoms for a very long time and nobody thought to check me for that. so im glad to be treating it before surgery rather than find it during surgery or after.
  9. oh believe me I understand all that. My sister had this and almost died. Im just upset that he didnt check for it earlier. Especially since i told them my sister had it quite a few years ago. i will wait however long they tell me i have to wait. it was just a huge let down.
  10. so i have my surgery scheduled for the day after thanksgiving. im having my lapband removed and revised the the sleeve. i went for preop testing and tested positive for H pylori. Had to start a round of heavy duty antibiotics and now my surgery might be postponed. :-( Very upsetting. and i am wondering why if its routine to check for this before this type of surgery my doctor waited so long to check me for it? Feeling Furious! anyone out there find out they had hpylori in there preop testing and how long did it take to clear up? (its a bacteria in the stomach that causes infection in the lining of your stomach, my level wasnt very high so the infection must not be that bad )
  11. Thank you! i called the insurance company last night and they already approved me for the surgery. now i just have to get my surgery date. most of the things they require for preop testing I have already had just recently and i dont think i will have to do much for testing. Woot Woot!!
  12. Doctors office has finally submitted my case to the insurance company for pre approval! Wish me luck!! Hoping they have the right answer and soon!
  13. This is what happened with me and the band..... i decided to have the band because i was obese. i was obese because i ate way too much food. not because i was a sugar or carb addict. I did not have a sugar and carb addiction before the band. I repeat... too much food too often. After i had the band I had nothing but problems. I could not eat meats, poultry, eggs, vegetables or fruit without it coming right back up. so what does one do eventually, eat what stays down. which is slider foods, sugar, carbs, etc. I am having a revision to the sleeve soon, which my doctor says he has seen way better results for the people that had the band and had problems, and switched to the sleeve. Meanwhile he unfilled my band so I can eat , how how i had missed these healthy foods! So my plan is that when i get the sleeve , I will still eat healthy as I have been since the unfill and i will be restricted to the amounts i can eat and be successful. It sounds like some people dont understand how and why some of us with the failed lapband/self experience ended up on the failing end. Good Luck to all and good luck to me! :-)

  15. im in the process of getting approved to have a revision from the band to sleeve. hoping to have it done by the end of october, beginning of november. I lost some at first but had problems also. had to have fluid removed because every time i had a fill my stomach would swell shut. left it alone for many many years and now have finally decided it has to come out , and on to the sleeve. Hoping to do it all in one surgery also. good luck to everyone, i am hearing the sleeve is awesome
  16. has anyone ever heard of the band slipping a little and pushing on the vagus nerve, causing an irregular heart beat?
  17. has anyone on here that has a band had any trouble with an irregular heartbeat.. i read somewhere that there have been cases where the band had slipped a little and was pushing on the vagus nerve and causing an irregular heart beat? i have a band and i am in the process of getting approved to have the revision to the sleeve. i had a lot of chest pain, back pain, wake up choking because the food never went down. doctor unfilled me and it got better but i still have some pain and an irregular heart beat
  18. sublingual works for me, i have pernicious anemia and was on the injections ,then switched to sublingual and thats when my b-12 finally went up, so sublingual works and is much cheaper in my opinion
  19. Oh My, im sorry to hear this, i am just starting the process of trying to get approved for the removal of my band and a revision to the gastric sleeve. I am hoping they reverse the decision for you, hoping this doesnt happen to me too. Can I ask why you want the band removed if there isnt anything wrong with it. I want mine removed because i struggled to lose weight with it. I would lose a little weight, quit losing weight, go in for a fill and no matter how small or how large the fill was my stomach would swell shut to the point that i couldnt even swallow my own saliva, so then i would have to get unfilled. ended up in the emergency room a couple of times. I had mine in mexico and the doctor that said he would do my aftercare when i got home changed his policies and wouldnt take any patients that he did not do the surgery for. so finally found a doctor 4 hours away and would travel there. He passed away in a car accident and then I had to look for a new doctor. Nobody wanted to take me, i went since 2005 without a doctor to deal with my band , finally the original doctor that changed his policy , changed it again and agreed to see me. Needless to say when I went in to see him he decided my band had been way too tight since 2005, ( i just thought it was suppose to be like that) i couldnt eat any good foods, just threw them up, only junk would slide down. i just figured i wasnt behaving and thats how the band is suppose to be. So after that long of living like that I just want the band out and want to convert to the sleeve. My new doctor told me that has been the experience with a lot of people with the lapband and some people just dont do well with the lap band. (which by the way he was a firm believer in the lap band years ago and now prefers the gastric sleeve) Also he sent me for all kinds of test and according to the tests my band is placed just fine, hasnt slipped and has not eroded. He also said there is a small percentage of people that he has seen that just do not tolerate the fills, and hes seen their stomachs swell shut also. I must be one of those. I was just wondering if you had any of these problems, meanwhile I will pray for your insurance company to reverse their decision and pray mine covers the removal and revision also. Good Luck to you
