H Pylori

so i have my surgery scheduled for the day after thanksgiving. im having my lapband removed and revised the the sleeve. i went for preop testing and tested positive for H pylori. Had to start a round of heavy duty antibiotics and now my surgery might be postponed. :-( Very upsetting. and i am wondering why if its routine to check for this before this type of surgery my doctor waited so long to check me for it? Feeling Furious! anyone out there find out they had hpylori in there preop testing and how long did it take to clear up? (its a bacteria in the stomach that causes infection in the lining of your stomach, my level wasnt very high so the infection must not be that bad )

It is a bacteria that is in your stomach...you should not want to have surgery until it is all gone. The bacteria could spread or leak out. Don't be so excited that you don't care about your health.

oh believe me I understand all that. My sister had this and almost died. Im just upset that he didnt check for it earlier. Especially since i told them my sister had it quite a few years ago. i will wait however long they tell me i have to wait. it was just a huge let down.

I was diagnose with the same , and I had to take antibodies gorgeous two I had to take a lot of pills during those two weeks but I'm glad they caught it, because I started having stomach pains .
