My dad is a state employee also but he has Cigna. We live closer to Knoxville but Centennial in Nashville was the closest place to us that accepted his. I'm happy with the surgeon we chose. I just had surgery Monday so don't have a lot of stats for you but that's all the info I have as far as state employees insurance goes
Congrats on the surgery!!! I had mind 2-14-13. I've lost 80 pounds so far.

How's it going?

I have not joined a support group butt "The Surgical Weight Loss" at St Francis on Park has some. I prefer ATC over other gyms.

My wife's bruise was like yours and I had just a small one. Our surgeon told use it was normal for some people to bruise bad and others not. She also said on us she had a tuff time removing the stomach on my wife. That's where it came out.

That its normal to have to make yourself eat. The part of your stomach they remove makes the hormone that tells your mind you're hungry. You will also be cold too.

I was not hungry at all. I still have got to make myself to eat. I was getting discomfort after I ate till I figured out I was trying to eat TOO fast which my cause you to vomit. Remember small small bites and try about 2 minutes between bites. When I figured out what I was doing wrong I started using the timer on my phone to slow my self down. Now I eat without the timer and discomfort afterwards.

Ok... so protein' date=' Protein, protein.. for the days following surgery, how did you eat, shakes? Were you allowed to drink?[/quote']I was on ice chips the first day, then on Clear liquids till day 3, after that purée foods. At my two week appointment the dr put me on soft foods. At six weeks whatever I could tolerate. Some foods will not like you anymore. I had a sip of my sons mt. dew and a coke this weekend and yuck is all I can say. How did I drink those things.

That's part of the reason it's so important to get Protein. Start looking for Protein Shakes you like. I like the body fortress brand powder and Atkins pre made shakes. You will need 75-100g a day.

One thing to remember after surgery walk as much as you can to get the gas out of your stomach. You ladies will do great!!!!

Also search you tube.
"Gastric sleeve"

I think it started gaining popularity in 2009-2010. My wife and I both got sleeved one week apart the only negative side effects we have had were self inflicted. I came up with a ice cream flavor and blue bell put it out right after I had my surgery. I ate two scoops and it ran straight thru me and her too. One is ok but two is too much sugar.(dumping syndrome) bread swells and will put you on your knees in a snap. Wendy's chili is good to eat so I found a recipe for it on the web. Body fortress Protein Powder is really good too. They are high in Protein 34g made with skim milk. They have chocolate, strawberry and Cookies and cream. I drive a truck and only missed two week of work.

I got my sleeve on 2-14-13. I was leaning towards the band till I found out it has the highest rate of failure. I went with the sleeve because I know a few friends that has gotten one. My post op diet was liquids and purée for the first two weeks. Then my Dr cut me loose on SOFT foods. I'm now 10 weeks out today and I'm down over 60 pounds. Stay away from bread if possible. I have been able to handle just about everything I've tried. You will get full really fast. Right after my surgery I could not drink more than 1 oz of Water at a time. That's been my hardest thing to deal with. Now I'm getting about 3 oz at a time. It seams to be really different than the band. I met a guy at my dr that went from the ban to the sleeve. He said he wished he'd done the sleeve first.(said it was too new at the time he got his band and didn't want to try it)

Wow I never had a drainage tube and started soft foods after one week. Then other foods as tolerated.
