    What should we do!!!

In January, I was approved for the surgery but my husband wasnt because he only had two year weight history. Since then We found 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, no 2005. Also since then Aetna changed their requirements. We apealed and got a letter yesterday denying him again!!! WTF!!! It says he is missing 2005, what difference does it make if they only require 2 years. It also says they require two years of weight history. When we resubmitted, we turned in a letter from him, a letter from our PCP with the four years on it and a letter from his knee doctor. I dont understand what's going on and what to do now. He is very upset about this and it's hard for me knowing i'm getting my surgery Wednesday and he isn't even approved yet. What should we do???

    What should we do!!!

so today I called Aetna. These people are unbelievable!!!! Of course you cant talk to the people who make the decisions, so I asked to speak to the nurse that submits the pre-cert and no one seems to know what i'm talking about. They just keep saying to resubmit again for a second level of appeal. I am so mad!!!

    Your Aetna experience?

nene and dogluvr, Mine took 6 weeks but it finally came. My husband paper work was sent back three weeks ago. I called on Friday and they said they had just received it. I know that's now true because I was standing there three weeks ago when the nurse in the office faxed it to them. It will come soon for all of you.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I really like the idea of having the entire March Bandsters thread. I'm scheduled for 3/19/08. My doctor does not require a pre-op diet, but I think I'm gonna try to start a week before surgery on some type of liquid diet. I'm trying to get on the ball with ordering everything so it's ready when I get home.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I'm so happy for you Michelle. I am hopeful my process goes as easy as yours. I can't help but think it's going to be like my c-section, which went very well for me in terms of healing.

  11. I am scheduled to have surgery 3/19. My doctors office doesnt require a pre-op diet, but I wanted to start one, because I think it might be easier for me to transition. Is ther anyone out there who has to do one, and if so what do you have to do?
  12. I'm in on the tat!!! I have one, but would get another.

thanks everyone for the info. I have given up soda so far and it's been about a week. I'm on a search for some protein drinks so I'm gonna check out the ones you all are taking to see which one is best for me.

    Your Aetna experience?

I finally got a surgery date of 3/19/08!!!!
  21. Got a call today from the surgeons office stating that they need to get a denial from my primary insurance which is UHC before they can give me a surgery date. UGHHH!!! I am so pissed. First off, I've mentioned to the nurse who is handeling my file not once but numerous times with regards to my primary insurance. Never once did she say we had to submit it to them first because we both new that it was an exclusion on my policy. So we just submitted it to Aetna, who is my secondary and it was approved. So because she is on vacation this week, we have to wait until Monday before she submits it to UHC for the denial. At first the other nurse said to me that I would have to wait until I get the denial before they would give me a date, but after I went off about how this whole process has been ridiculously long due to people dropping the ball, she said she would make sure I had my surgery date when I go in next week for orientation. She said they will just schedule me out a few weeks. I am so sick of these people. Another thing, they act as if there is only one nurse in the office, so when she's out, I have to wait until she gets back to do anything with my file. I'm calling them back tomorrow, to see if anyone is capable of faxing everything to UHC tomorrow, so I could possibly get the letter before I go in next week.

If it aint one thing it's another!!!

Lonestar, it is crazy!!! Your right, I am grateful that I'm approved. I did have another nurse call me back the next day and she said she would make sure all my paperwork would get sent to UHC the next day. This would be 2/14/08. So hopefully I will be getting a denial soon. That sounds weird that I want a denial. Anyhoo, I am praying that you will get your approval soon. With all these new changes, everyones journey will hopefully become easier.
  23. I'm so sorry lynne. That sucks. I'm going through something similar. I will pray for us both.

    Your Aetna experience?

This is really great news for my husband. We are resubmitting next week for him, along with a letter form him and our PCP. I wonder since they changed the policy if we have to appeal or just resubmit???

    Obesity law.com????

Thanks Walter. We will try to appeal first, espeically with the new great news about the 2 year history. If we need further assistance, I will be sure to contact you.
