  1. I don't think treating a woman like a lady is somehow making her less or unimportant in anyway. I think treating her like she is less than you or her thoughts and opinions aren't as important is where the disrespect comes in. I can see how due to society how some men might be that way due to ego or whatever. I have an Aunt who is very successful who never married as men would either want to use her or be threatened by her success. I think a lot of it is how the men were raised and how their father treated their mother. My mother had college degree's where my father had experience but not a degree. My father always treated my mother with respect and love and they both always taught me to respect women. So i think how your parents were with each other and what they taught you is a big decider on how you will be in your relationships. My parents did divorce when i was 13 but i think what children learn is from 5 to 12 anyways that sticks with them throughout their life. My wife has two of her own businesses and she is very intelligent even though she has no degree where i have 3. It doesn't make here opinions any less important than mine. I think in essence it comes down to a respect factor. If you respect the one your with and show them love then treating them like a lady doesn't make you less of a man or her somehow make her less of a woman for accepting that role.
  2. Yes for 11 years now. I still open the door for my wife and i tell her how gorgeous i think she is everyday even before the surgery. She is finally starting to see what i have known all along. I am a hopeless romantic though and i find that there aren't too many men that are. My wife says I'm a geek like Leonard from big bang theory if you've ever seen the show.

I am giving up on chicken.

It might be different for everyone. I do alright with chicken but not a whole lot of it. I can usually eat a few bites at a time then have to wait like 20 min. I still have problems with beef though especially hamburgers. I tried using slider patties cause there s small but still can only eat like half of it. seafood seems to have the least trouble. Maybe try a different style chicken or different brand or quality. we can have so little might as well go with best quality. On another note it might just be a while as i was told that some meats might take till after a year to be able to handle. Also try using hot liquids 30 min before to open up stomach pouch.

    Anyone with little babies?

I have 2 daughters 9 and 3 and my oldest thinks it's great. She talks about how she can sit next to me in my recliner now. We do a lot more outdoor fun stuff. We went to a parade on Saturday and walked all over the place lot's of it with her on mine or my friends shoulders. I forgot to mention my wife had the surgery as well. I'm at goal and my wife is 15lbs from it. I think the effect it has had on our kids has been positive. We all eat better now. we sometimes eat different things from the kids but the little one wants what we have a lot so she has become a fan of catfish that i made from a recipe i found online along with my oldest. They have always liked yogurt so we just buy different kinds but overall i think it has been a good thing for our whole family. I think the 7 year old will see how happier you will be and look at it as positive and the two younger ones will know you as the skinnier you and won't know any different. If you think about it by getting healthier your setting an example that will not only benefit you but them as well by eating healthier and being happier by being able to have more energy and feel better about yourself will inspire them in the long run.

  6. I have a similar problem and found at first with the weight loss it made the lower back feel better eventually the muscles still get weak and it comes back. I started doing the strengthening exercises for my back and stomach that my physical therapist recommended using the ball to do bridges and slight crunches to strengthen the stomach muscles. Another idea that i haven't been able to try is swimming as it's low impact and can help. even using weights designed for the pool might help. I hope this helps. If you ever have had physical therapy before or maybe do a google search for exercises that might strengthen the core for back problems
  7. Sometimes the last little bit is the hard part to loose. To get that last 5kg off takes some extra things sometimes. When i was starting the nutritionist stated that just not having that one little treat or maybe 5 more min of walking can make a difference. They said at first it's easy cause your body is used to so many calories and then it's getting not as much, but as you get close to goal your body needs the amount of calories to sustain your current weight. Just reducing your calorie intake by 2-300 calories a day might help to get those last kg's off. hope this help. I'm trying to get my last 4kg's off myself. On another thought 70kg might be good for you if you strengthen up the muscles it might look the way you want. When i reach my goal i plan on putting 10kg back of muscle as my goal weight is technically too small for my frame I'm 190 cm and i want to get down to 92kg but then put muscle on to 102kg

I found another recipe i am going to try tonight. I'm using can't believe it's not butter light instead of butter and i will use fresh minced garlic instead of salt. I will let you know how it turns out. I might add a little dry white wine to the sauce as the sauce i made for the catfish was excellent. Broiled Scallops: Ingredients: 1 1/2 pounds bay scallops 1 tablespoon garlic salt 2 tablespoons butter, melted 2 tablespoons lemon juice Directions: 1. Turn broiler on. 2. Rinse scallop and place in a shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with garlic salt, melted butter or margarine and lemon juice. 3. Broil 6 to 8 minutes or until scallops start to turn golden. Remove from oven and serve with extra melted butter or margarine on the side for dipping.

I'm the exception not the rule but i wasn't able to eat till Feb 11th and i was sleeved Dec 3rd 2012. I had a lot of problems and couldn't drink protein shakes without throwing up so you can't go by me. I was only able to get water in and maybe a few bites of food every once in a while. I will say i'm doing a lot better but i have found that better quality food makes a difference. I went to a business dinner in February and had fresh caught salmon and was able to eat about 2/3 of it but then went to a business lunch two weeks later and tried farm raised and wasn't even able to finish 1/3. i find seafood goes down the easiest and i seem to be able to eat a little more of it than chicken. I found a turkey pot roast made by jenni o that was excellent. it was nice and tender and i was able to take a few bites and was full but it was really good. I also recommend if your having problems is in the beginning my wife and i would make recipes and then stick in the food processor and that really helps. My biggest problem has always been i am a fast eater so like last night i threw up cause i ate a few chicken wings too fast. Mostly it's trial and error but i hear you about throwing up i hate it and it hurts so bad. i'm mostlyt happy with how much i've lost but i lost so quick due to not being able to get any protein in that i lost a lot of muscle so i'm just starting to build it back up. I was sleeved only 4 and a half months ago but i'm 25lbs from my goal weight. it will get better i would just stay away from pork and beef for now if your having any problems throwing up right now. i just saw your three weeks out so your probably still on soup and yogurt right now. I will say my wife didn't have any problems and was mostly able to eat by the 5th or 6th week without much issues. I also recommend premier protein shakes from costco they don't taste horrible and they have a 30G protein in a small enough container that it doesn't take hours to drink. 3 a day would be your full daily protein for a female or most of the way for a male and it's easy to make u the difference. I find if i take high protein low fat jerky and peanuts to work with me to snack throughout the day and then drink water in between i have enough energy to make it through he day and stay full.

Just wanted to share this. Today i was at the store and they had catfish nuggets on sale so i bought a package of them. We can't eat fried so i went online and found this recipe i just tried and it was excellent. It's baked not fried and there is no breading. i doubled the amount of catfish as i was making it for my wife too (she was sleeved the week after me) but i kept the rest the same. I also used can't believe it's not butter and i realize you can probably get away with 2 or 3oz as with the lemon juice and dry white wine there is plenty of sauce for 4 nuggets. i didn't use salt or cilantro. it was really good and flavorful and depending on oven 12 minutes was perfect for mine it came out tender falling off the fork good. play with it make your own but where i got it from it got real good reviews so i tried it and i wasn't disappointed. Enjoy Ingredients 2 (7 to 8-ounce) catfish fillets 4 ounces butter 4 ounces dry white wine 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic 1 teaspoon chopped cilantro Salt to taste Pepper to taste Paprika Directions Season fish with salt and pepper. Place fish in oval casserole dish. Melt 4 ounces butter in small sauce pan. Add wine and remaining ingredients, except the paprika. Simmer about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and spoon over fish. Now sprinkle paprika over fish. Bake fish in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the fish is done. Mo that's what mine showed is that it emptied slow. Like i said it does eventually get better. I will warn you when it does you'll want to eat a lot. I actually gained 7 pounds when mine finally allowed me to eat. But after a week it went back to normal and i lost it just as quick.

Well the good news is i had all the same problems as you with the foam, protein shake, and the sweetness as well as everything else. the bad news is i was sleeved December 3rd of 2012 and i wasn't able to eat more than a few bites till February 11th. I'm not saying you will be as bad but my surgeon says 80% of people have some probs 10% have none and 10% have a lot. My guess is your like me and in the bad 10%. I do recommend seeing your DR about getting an upper GI Flouro scan to make sure there is no blockage. Mine wasn't but better to be safe. I'm not saying yours will last as long as mine did but i will tell you now that things are better i can drink protein shakes and i recommend the premier ones from costco as there not too big and have 30G of protein and aren't too sweet but don't taste nasty either. When you can drink them i mean. My suggestion to you is to do what i did which is drink plenty of water and get some no sugar added frozen fruit and mix it in the blender with water and take your time drinking it. Your body processes natural sugar different and it will give you the energy to make it through the day until your stomach fully heals and you can start eating again and drink the protein drinks. I will warn you you will lose muscle tone as you can't get enough protein but other than being tired a lot you will not cause any damage to your body by what i suggest as i got a second opinion other than my surgeon. It has started to come back since i have been able to get protein in now so i wouldn't worry too much about it. he important thing is to get checked out to make sure there is no blockage and if not just do what you can until it heals. One more thing pedialyte pops is another good thing to try as their not too sweet ad it helps get some fluid in and the cold calms the stomach a little. Also ask your DR about medication that can help with the nausea i had 2 types a pill and a liquid that helped me get through the last month. If you want send me a message and i can send you one back with the names i would have to go back and look them up.

I couldn't drink protein shakes till recently but i will say isopure was one of the worst. it is chalky and tastes too sweet. I found a post on here about premier protein shakes from costco and i like those but it took me from dec 3rd till mar before i could drink a protein shake without being nauseous or throwing up. Everyone is different. It sounds like your like i was so i would stay away from shakes if they make you sick for now.. as far as eating for me i couldn't eat more than 2 bites till feb 11th without throwing up. Everyone's stomach heals different.mine was worst case according to my DR. he stated 80% of people have some probs 10% have none and 10% have a lot that was me. I will say when you stomach heals and opens up as for me i was on a plane to NC when that happen and all of a sudden i couldn't stop eating i was so hungry i had to pace myself but i was eating a little constantly all day for 2 weeks.

  18. Merade I was sleeved on Dec 3rd my stomach didn't allow me to eat more than 2 bites till feb 11th. I was an extreme case according to my dr but if your able to drink Protein shakes your better off than i was. I felt just like you and started regretting doing it. But i will tell you this when it does heal take it slow. I was so happy to finally be able to eat i had to gauge how much to eat at first. I still can't get in as much as my wife who was sleeved dec 10th and had no problems but i find if i eat a few bites about every 10 min i seem to do ok. It might take me a hour to eat one thing but i find if i eat then drink Water for the next hour i stay full and my metabolism is great right now as i'm down 114lbs since december. It will get better but everyone's body heals at a different pace. Hang in there. If you have an specific questions feel free to send me a message. I would check with your DR though just to make sure there is no obstruction as i did all that and it just took a while to heal.

I wouldn't worry too much about the level of Protein at first it takes a while. It took me from December 3rd till February 11 before i could eat more than a bite or two of food at all and i couldn't drink Protein Shakes at all. The only thing i could get in was Water. i had the same fears about something has got to give. i am now able to eat but i still don't think i get close to the 130grams of protein/day they say I'm supposed to get due to height and being male. If i had to guess i probably get around 35 to 50 a day right now but it's takes a while to get there. I still have the energy i was lacking when i couldn't eat but a big boost is getting a good Protein Shake for Breakfast. i found one that is 35 grams of protein that helps but i don't drink it every day. even if you find one that is around 20 like using sugar free carnation instant breakfast and skim milk it's 17 grams of protein i have that a few times a week. I haven't tried yet but many on here have recommended premier i believe it's called from costco i might go tomorrow and take a look so I'll let you know. i eat a small bag of peanuts or some Jerky from a health food store for a snack or lunch while I'm out working to keep my protein levels up. i try to eat every 2 hours and then get my water and Fluid intake in between that. If your a coffee drinker making a cup of coffee with a scoop of flavored or unflavored protein as a creamer is a good way to get protein and fluid in at the same time as my nutritionist and doctor say coffee can count as your fluid. like i said i struggled more than most so if you have any questions or concerns feel free to send me a message.
