    Carbs?

My NUT said at 600 calories I can have 40. I am doing 20-30. I cannot function on less than 20. My brain stops working. But they are nasty little devils and for me, eating carbs makes me hungry for carbs so I have to strike a balance. My balance seems to be about 25.
  3. I am 30 days out. At three weeks, a few days before my period, I had a 900 calorie day. Before and after, I get in between 400 and 600 per day. I feel more restriction and less hunger now than I did at three weeks. I was worried about being able to eat too much too soon, too. Turns out my sleeve had other plans for me. I also eat fast. I only eat 2 oz of most things, but I finish it in no time with minimal discomfort. I was in a stall, which ended today. Maybe the 900 calorie day helped.

    Itching...

Insomnia got worse. I take ambien. It does not work like it did pre-surgery.
  5. I'm 5'2" so I am sensitive to the unfairness of the universe when it comes to shorties and how little we have to weigh to be "thin". I bet you look great right now. I remember when I weighed 160 and I thought I was a fat pig. My high weight was 257 and today I am 222. I also remember 125 and that was fantastic. I guess all my rambling is meant to say that I doubt this is a permanent situation. Based on what I have read here, a 3 month stall is not unusual. Without scaring you, I have read about 6 month stalls. Maybe your body is just comfortable where you are for a bit while it adjusts and then it will start up again. I am sure it took you more than 6 months to get to your high weight. It took me 25 years to get from 125 to 257. I am frustrated that I have spent half my 30 days since surgery in a stall, but I believe I will continue to lose and based on what the folks here have posted, so will you.
  6. How tall are you and what is your goal weight? I am so sorry you are stuck. Stalls are awful and they so mess with your head.

    3 weeks po stall

I am 30 days post op. Days 1 - 15, I lost 18 pounds. Then a stall. One day I gained two pounds. Then I lost that. Then I stayed the same for two weeks. This morning I weighed an I have lost a pound. I also started my period yesterday so that may have had an impact on my stall. I usually lose several pounds of bloat during my cycle so hopefully, my loss will now continue. I will say that all during my stall, I continued to shrink. My clothes kept getting more loose. If you have been sleeved, you will lose weight. I think it is just natural to see all the folks on here saying they lost 105 pounds in 4 months and you think, "I better start dropping some REAL weight or I will never get there". And you start doubting it will really work, etc. I think it is just best to live in your own process and be pleased with the small changes. I am off my CPAP, I am down a size, my skin has cleared up and I have not had a migraine in a month. And I am the size I was 9 years ago. 9 years worth of fat gone in 30 days is pretty darn exciting.
  8. I came home 6 pounds heavier from surgery. They fill you up with IV fluids. If you drink your water, that will come off. It took a few days for mine to come off.

    Holy Restriction

I was like Tawnie. I went on softs at two weeks. My first day on softs, I ate 1 TB cream of wheat and 1/2 a scrambled egg. By week 3, I could eat 2 oz or 2TB at a time. I am 29 days and my restriction has not changed. I can drink fluids with no problem. 8 oz of fluid in 15 minutes is a breeze.
  10. WalMart equate sugar free fiber supplement tablets.
  11. I am one month out. I take a sugar free chewable fiber tablet every night and I am quite regular. But at first, it was liquid stool followed by constipation. I hate being fixated on my bodily functions so thank goodness for fiber tablets. I pretend it is a vitamin.
  12. Laura, every virtue has it's limit. I just wanted to know what the poor girl was up against. And live vicariously through her scotchmallow. You see, I must mock what I fear and I am Sooooo happy that I now live 24 driving hours or four flight hours from the nearest Sees. They are the devil's chocolate!

    Facial Hair F!

Can be a real condition called hirsutism. Has to do with how insulin is handled by the body and impacts male hormones. Also can be caused by Cushings ( adrenal gland problems) or PCOS. I say call doctor.
  14. My fav is the peanut crunch..... Or the toffette......oh, crap, that is how I got fat. Ah, someday when I reach goal and can trust myself, I will have a peanut crunch again and it will be good because I did not get the bypass.

    help!

As far as your weight loss is concerned, I saw my doctor Friday and he told me 12 pounds was all he expected of me at three weeks. And it is normal to stall. I had a 10 day stall from day 15 until day 25. My best friend had the sleeve four years ago and she told me the first month she felt like she was a junkie going through withdrawal. She was a wreck. She got through it by exercising. She lost 80 pounds in six months and looks fantastic. If she can do it, you can too. Just think where you can be in 6 months. Find something to do with your hands. Needlepoint or paint. We believe in you.
  16. No one asked and my curiosity is running away with me......which kind of See's candy dis you choose?
  17. It is not as easy a it looks from the outside. And the upside is, you are still down weight. Pre-sleeve, you might have gained under the same circumstances. I wish you the best of luck in the future.
  18. If you regularly fail to finish a meal, weigh it before you eat and weigh what is left when you are finished. Invest in a food scale so you can get accurate weights. Very few people can eyeball their amounts in the beginning. Good luck!
  19. You need to keep track of what you eat and add up the number of grams of protein in everything you eat. You shouldn't take in less than 60 grams per day and as you go along, you will need more than that. Do you use myfitnesspal?

    Fever Help

I had the same experience. My temp usually runs low. Day 4 or 5 post op my temp went up to almost 100. I went off my pain meds so I could determine how high it would go. It never topped 100 and after a couple of days, went back down. No infection. I forgot to even mention it to the doctor.
  21. I am absolutely with you. I am exactly one month tomorrow. The first 15 days, I lost 18 lbs. Then nothing until 2 days ago. That day I dropped another 2 lbs and this morning, back up a pound. I have been tracking my food. I am eating between 600 and 850 per day, 60 to 80 grams protein and 20-30 grams carbs. Talked to my NUT. She said I was right on target, that I could eat up to 40grams carbs. The doctor told me I had lost 25% more than he expected me to and that my body is just in an adjustment phase. And truthfully, although I have not lost more weight, I am still shrinking. My clothes continue to get more and more loose. Hang in there. I know it will move.
  22. I also think that most of us have given up inflammatory foods for the first time ever. I have not had a diet coke in weeks. Many of us have given up refined sugar for the first time ever. I know I have less inflammation in my body. I have lost the puffiness in my face and the swelling in my ankles to a greater degree than what can be explained through my weight loss alone.
  23. That sounds like about 56oz. You should shoot for at least 64 a day. A lot of us don't make that every day, but if you don't get at least that much most days it will cause you problems eventually. If you start having pain or you see any evidence of blood or you have trouble going, make sure you let your doctor know. Congratulations on being sleeved!
  24. They saved my life the first two weeks. I probably ate 3 a day then. If there are none in Australia, you can make your own with sugar free kool-aid or the Aussie equivalent.
