You might be able to appeal being dropped with your state insurance coverage commission. It will be very difficult to find coverage that won't charge you a lot of money because of your weight. Next year the ACA will kick in and you should be able to find affordable insurance' date=' but I don't know if it will cover WLS.[/quote']I can research that..I'm not really worried the cost its just geeting covered because of my weight.

Well it has to do with payments they claim they didn't get and I had proof they did and did numerous appeals, still dropped me. That insurance was on my own and they covers it! The one with with job didn't, if that what you meant. Thanks

Wow! Inspiring! and I was told at 446 it would be best for me to go bypass because the sleeve wouldnt do the trick! Keep it up!!

Yes I also liked his tracker record but the only thing I really don't is that I never met him and I'm going on my 3 diet class. I don't want to feel like a number.

Has anyone had their VSG with Dr Barker and care to share experience.

Thanks! Makes me feel a little better. I just have that gut feeling that if I have the bypass Im going to be one with the bad complications.

Hello
I am currently thinking about having the vsg and I am about 446lbs! I want to know if there is anyone that was or know someone. who was over 400lbs and did awesome with the sleeve. My surgeon suggest bypass and that scares the crap out of me!

Hello Everyone!!!
Wow! I never thought that a little question I had would spark so much attention from all different kinds of people who all relate in this way. I am really proud of you all and the inspiration that was not only given to me but also to thousands of hopefuls. Thanks you!
An update on me. I haven't had the surgery as of yet ???? I have had a few "road blocks" with insurance and a illness that took top priority. The illness I had and still can happen again, has to a lot to do with being overweight and my insurance(bcbs) stated they would cover the surgery if it's medically necessary but even with 3 different doctors letters still denied me, twice.
So now with new insurance I found a doctor that will do the surgery and charge the insurance for a hitial hernia and I am waiting for the 1st for the plan to be effective. I hope no challenges will arise but I came this far and I will not give up on myself!
Again, thanks everyone for your encouraging stories and let's continue to FIGHT THE FAT together!!
