  1. I've enjoyed my fair share of alcohol beverages before surgery but due to home issues and life I've started t drink a lot more and have gained at least 30 lbs back since my surgery approximately 4 years ago. I don't know what to do at this point and am not in a place where I feel not drinking is an option (i know this is so wrong) but I feel like I'm looking for permission to do something unhealthy like not eating or severely limit my calorie intake in order to resume the weight loss process. I'm feeling weak and not in control and I don't know what to do right now. I hate exercise and i know it's something I need to do but I can't push past my discomfort to do it. I dont know why because before surgery I actually did the work and lost 40 lbs on my own in 3 months. I don't feel like I eat any more that I used to but I keep gaining. I'm so sad because a I'm writing this I'm getting drunk. I feel like maybe my drinking is causing the weight gain ( since it's the only thing that I've really changed) but I don't feel like I'm in a head space to stop. Any advise would help. Thanks

  2. There were two girls in my class that were smaller. I don't know their BMI though. But I know one of them has already had her surgery. I also had very large girls in class who still haven't been scheduled for surgery yet even with BMI's over 50 and comorbidities because they gained weight while going through the class.

From what I understood from class is that if they accepted you to the program you are pretty much approved unless you gain weight while you are going through the class or miss too many classes.

    So I think you'll be ok :)

  3. I'm 5 weeks out and so far so good. My recovery was exceptional even by my Dr's standards. Went back to my full time job after two weeks and my part time job after 4 days (i got scolded for that).

The only time I get bummed out is in social eating situations. I'm never really hungry and food isn't "fun" anymore when you have 2-4 bites and your pretty much done. No trying out everyone's plate. No craft beers...

But all in all, I don't regret it at this point.

  4. Hi Sabrina! I'm doing well. Still trying to find things that I like to eat since everything tastes kind of off right now. But other than that everything is A ok. I feel great physically.

Saw you post about being approved, Congrats!!!! :)

Do you have a date yet?

  5. I'm glad your doing good :) my last class is on march 26. But today I recieved a letter in the mail that my dr. Sent a referal for me to take the lifestyle and weight management class did you have to do that? It's only 1 class for 2 hours not so bad.

We didn't have to do that class. Some of my classmates had called and inquired about the nutrition class before and they did get a referal to attend but I believe its optional. They might also refer some people to the sleep apnea study, addiction medicine, or further psych eval but they aren't required.

They called a few of us to meet our surgeon only two weeks after class ended. It was a really fast process. Some people haven't been called yet but they are still taking meds for H-Pylori or are missing classes or haven't finished their labs.

Are you doing yours in Harbor City?

  6. Yay!!!! I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 4 pound. :) how are you feeling?

Great job on your 4 lb loss!! Keep up with whatever you've been doing and you'll have no worries about meeting your goal.

I've been doing pretty well, still a bit sore and the gas pains weren't very fun. It was a reminder that I need to walk more. I'm able to drink a lil more now. I basically babysit anything I drink throughout the day because I get full quickly.

It's definitely nice to have friends arounds to boost your spirits so keep them close :)

How many more weeks do you have until your last options class?

  7. YAY YOU!!!!! How did you make it through the day before...I have nothing more to clean, wash or dust?

I slept most of the day before surgery. I was so hungry and just wanted to eat everything. I tried spending time with a friend but when they ordered BBQ I had to leave, couldn't take it anymore. Fortunately, I didn't want to eat anything after surgery. Probably the first time anyone has had to pressure me to put food in my mouth. lol

  8. Thanks for your help I'm the friend that Sarah is talking about. I have my 9th option class tomorrow and hopefully I lost more weight. If you don't mind me asking who was your surgeon and where did you take your options class? Thanks for your help and if you have any tips for me they would be greatly appreciated.

I did my options classes in the SouthBay/ Harbor City. My surgeon was Dr Belzberg.

I started at 340lbs and I was 319lbs on Monday right befor my surgery.

  9. I completed my options classes for Kaiser So Cal in Jan. I only lost about 5% of the 10% they ask you to lose. It didn't seem to be a factor. I think they just want to make sure that you are using the classes to lose weight and holding yourself accountable by doing the food logs and not just ignoring the information. I've only heard of them denying one of the girls but she gained about 20 lbs during the course of the class. Usually, if you make it to the options class you are pretty much approved. So your friend shouldn't stress too much :)

  10. You seem to have an awesome personality Mercedes!

My name is Tanessa but everyone just calls me Nessa. I'm from West Covina, CA but I now live in Torrance, CA. I'm 30, no kids yet. Had a miscarriage last year :( I'm the second oldest out of 8 brothers and sisters. But my family isn't that close. Depending on my mood, I can be a homebody, cooking, crocheting, watching movies, reading or I can be a bar hopping, club going party girl. I like trying different things and I'm a night owl.

I work in accounting but I'd love to be a nurse. I just feel like I waited a bit to long to start now. I dream of traveling the world because I love experiencing new cultures. If I could live in a new country every year I would die a very happy woman.

My Facebook name is tanessa.morris, I don't mind any adds

  11. Hi! I'm having my surgery on the 4th. My Dr told me that I can have a normal meal day on the 2nd and then a very light Breakfast on the 3rd (he specified light as a slice of toast, an egg and glass of juice) then Clear liquids for the rest of the day and NOTHING at all after midnight.

I have heard of some sleevers having to do a week of liquids beforehand but never more than that. Maybe your surgeon has had the best results with that pre-op diet?
