  1. Hi all....I was sleeved on 1/21/13. I'm feeling very frustrated right now. I feel like I can eat too much. I'm on the pureed food stage and for breakfast I can eat 8oz of cream of wheat. For lunch I can eat 8oz of soup and for dinner 8oz of retried beans. I could def eat more if I wanted to. I'm ALWAYS hungry!!!!!!! I'm so disappointed with this surgery right now. Then I hear ppl say they can only eat 2oz of food and they are stuffed it makes me want to cry. It seems like an hour after I eat...I get hungry again. Has this happened to anyone else? I just don't understand it and I'm getting really depressed at this point
  2. I eat scrambled eggs every morning since it's a good source of protein. Well... I'm getting sick of them!! What does everyone else eat? I need some good suggestions. I also cannot stand anything sweet in the morning for some reason, so please don't suggest a protein shake or oatmeal. Blech!! You suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
  3. I can eat 2 scrambled eggs but no more. My nutritionist told me that was fine. I really do think everyone has different size sleeves. Or maybe its due to swelling after surgery. I don't know. But I do know that some ppl really struggle with tiny portions while others don't :/
  4. I felt the same in the beginning. Once u move to solid foods u will def feel more restriction.
  5. I know that may not seem like very much, but I was so nervous about getting weighed today. I kept thinking that I was gaining not losing. I am 4 weeks out now and have lost a total of 31 pounds!!! I'm so happy I want to tell everyone hahahaha!! I told my co-worker, my boyfriend and my mom like I was all proud. I love the positive feedback I'm getting. I'm starting to love my decision to get the sleeve. At first I was thinking to myself "why did I do this". Now I'm thinking "why didn't I do this sooner?" I don't want to jinx anything though so for now I will focus on what I'm supposed to and the weight should continue to come off. Ahhhhhh this is a good feeling
  6. Hi everyone...I was sleeved on 01/21/13 and was wondering if there are any others out there from St Paul or Minneapolis MN?? I went to U of M Fairview for my surgery with Dr Ikraamudin!!

    feeling hope slipping away

I actually feel my depression is better after losing some weight! And you know.....my doc never mentioned to me the size of the hernia sorry! I just know that it hurt to swallow after surgery and they told me that was from the repair.

    feeling hope slipping away

No I'm not...the methotrexate works for me. I'm on the highest dose of that so if my RA gets any worse that would be the next step. I better go knock on some wood now

    feeling hope slipping away

I also have RA and I'm on methotrexate. Do u have to take ibuprofrin every day? I know what its like to have a flare up I also have been on prilosec for years and had an endoscopy done prior to surgery. The doctor said I have gastritis and a hiatal hernia (which he repaired during the sleeve surgery). My acid reflux is actually better after the surgery. As far as being on prozac for years....I too have been on depression meds for years and being sleeved did nothing as far as worsening my depression.

    feeling hope slipping away

Everything prior to surgery is so overwhelming. There are so many appointments and it's very stressful I just wanted to rip my hair out. Eating is very different after surgery and I still miss hinge eating for that high feeling. I was sleeved on 1/21/13 and I'm still struggling with food. This surgery does not make u eat the right foods. You have to choose the right foods to eat. If you don't then the surgery is so not worth it. I wish you the best and if they say no on surgery....don't give up on yourself!! Maybe its just not the right time for you. If they say yes...make sure you are mentally prepared for the commitment for the rest of your life. . I wish you all the best honey:)

How long were you off work?

I requested 3 weeks off from work but ended up going back to work after 1 1/2 weeks. I think I could have gone back after a week though. Good luck on your surgery!!!

  15. I'm not trying to complain because I do love this website, however this has got to be the slowest website ever! I use this website at home on my kindle and at work and it's the same slowness. Anyone feel that way too? Grrrrr. LOL. There, I'm done venting now.

    Crybaby right here!

I felt the same way. My surgery was 3 weeks ago. You will do fine!!! You can do this!!!!
  17. I get that same thing. I don't feel sick or anything but I can def burp up food if I wanted to. Yuck! I think that's a sign I ate too much.

    ME:)

First of all you hold your weight really well. There is no way I would have thought your before weight was 304 lbs!! Second of all....you look amazing! You go girl!!
  19. I felt the same way it's normal to feel that way. I kept telling myself I would regret it if I didn't go through with it. You will be able to enjoy your favorite foods in time and in moderation. And u will be able to enjoy yourself at parties ect...U will get used to your new sleeve and be grateful for how it has changed your life for the better. Be strong. You can do this!!!

    Stuggling

I struggle getting enough water in especially when you can't drink 1/2 hour before and after meals. You basically have to force yourself even if you don't want to. You don't want to get dehydrated or that will make you feel 10 x's worse. Always keep a drink near you and sip all day long. Sometimes I wish I had a permanent IV so I never had to drink again. Hahahaha wouldn't that be nice.

    How much weight u lost?

wow 5 months and u lost 91lbs that's amazing!!! Congrats!!!!
  22. I love to eat still which sucks!! I look forward to eating my meals every 2-3 hours and food tastes just as delicious as it did before being sleeved. I cannot eat very much at a time (usually 1/2 cup) but I still love food damnit LOL!! Anyone else feel the same way??

    Gained weight

I'm very frustrated and discouraged right now. After surgery I lost 21 lbs after my 1st weigh in a week later. I just weighed myself and I GAINED 4 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not going over my calories so I don't know how this happened?!?!? Has this happened to anyone else??

To tell, or not to tell?

I only told the people I was close to (in my family and at work). I feel it's no one else's business. There were only a handful of people at my job that actually asked why I was going to be out for 3 weeks and I told them I was having surgery but never told them what for. Only 1 person asked me what I was having surgery for but I basically told her it was none of her business LOL!! She's one of those nosey gossipers anyway. Do what you feel comfortable doing. There is no wrong or right way of doing this. Good Luck!!
