  1. For those of you who were prescribed Zofran ODT, did you have to get an insurance approval for it? My pharmacy is walgreen's and they are requiring pre-authorization from my doctors office and insurance. I'm guessing its expensive?!
  2. OMG you look amazing! Silly to say, but I cried watching this. You look great. Thank you for sharing! Sent from my iPad using VST
  3. This is not medical advice, just observations from my own experience. As a society we have been conditioned to think we must have a BM every day. Just because you haven't gone, doesn't mean you are constipated. Are you feeling full? Trying to go and nothing's happening? That's constipation. I am on my pre-op diet. No BM for a week. Went this morning and it was normal in consistency and effort, just a much smaller amount. My husband would have run to the store for laxatives if he hadn't gone for a day! Lol While everyone is different, all I am saying is that you shoukd consider letting your body talk to you. If you feel ok and are taking in all your liquids, your body will let you know when it's time to go Sent from my iPad using VST

  5. Fluid that collects inside the body can increase the chance of infection or other complications. The drain reduces any fluid that may accumulate near your surgical site.
  6. Today is my 1st day. Slight headache after the shake at noon. Did a 20 min walk at lunch in 100 degree heat (probably not so smart.). So far so good. Dinner will be a test since I am traveling and will be eating at a restaurant.
  7. Mine is very close to yours. Seems like getting back to normal food very quickly!
  8. Mag citrate so sorry! All systems will be go shortly!! Good luck!
  9. Just had my pre op with my surgeon. Usual questions and instructions. I did ask him about the pre op diet and he said the ONLY purpose is to shrink the liver. He said "big boys" and some ladies get really fatty livers and it makes the surgery more difficult. He said the diet can shrink the liver up to 50-75%. He said he didn't expect me (I am lower bmi) to have that problem, so that's good. He also advised that I continue all meds after surgery (high bp, thyroid, asthma) just one at a time...no gulping! I also got my surgery time for the 25th...7:30 am! I will be his first case, so am happy about that. I start pre op diet tomorrow and have PAT next Monday. It's all happening very quickly now! Good luck to folks for this week!!!
  10. Many years ago, I was much thinner then than I am now. In line at Disneyland..."I'm sorry ma'am, expectant mothers can't ride this ride...." Sent from my iPad using VST
  11. Is there a rule or guideline on how much unflavored Protein you can put into something without changing the taste or consistency ? Example, I had about a 1/2 cup of yogurt after my dinner. I thought about adding protein to see how it tastes (I'm pre-op) but I chickened out. I'd be interested in hearing your powder to liquid ratios. Thanks! Sent from my iPad using VST

  14. I am so grateful to this forum for all of the great information! My surgery is scheduled for 6-25, the pre-op diet will start on Tuesday. I have spent this week detoxing from carbs (lots of meat!). The first couple of days...what a headache! But it's much better now and I am not too hungry. I also got samples of the various Protein shakes. Just had my first, Syntrax Oreo flavor. Delicious! I'm fortunate that my pre op diet requires 2 shakes and a lean meal per day until the day before surgery, when I start Clear liquids. Thank you to everyone for sharing their experiences! 15. Just submit what they want. No need to "fight" anything at this point. They have very specific requirements, so make sure all paperwork is sent in. Same thing happened to me. Once paperwork was submitted it took about a week for approval. The positive thing is that they didn't deny you or a medical reason--that's where the fight comes in! Good luck!
