  1. I've really enjoyed the journey (I'm 13 months out from surgery)...but now I've started to get really scared/anxious. My appetite has returned and I'm very, very worried about how easy regain could be.
  2. He was! I am hoping she's free of him. She said she could only handle one big change at a time -- broke my heart the way he treated her (can't be good for the daughter either).
  3. I watched this and was angered and saddened. Her husband was definitely an enabler, but I had a bit of empathy for him...have you seen the episode where the husband is truly awful? I wish I could remember the name of the wife/episode. She met her husband through a fat acceptance group and he DID NOT want her to lose weight, he was sabotaging her efforts at every turn.

    My 600 lb Life: Whoa

I have been watching this show too. Overall I feel like it's a fair and accurate portrayal. The one lady who had the son and husband who temporarily moved from Maryland to Texas (can't remember her name) was frustrating to watch, I thought. As frustrated as I was though, I did really feel for her and the denial. I really like the doctor. His dedication and sincere sense of caring and wanting to help really shines through...he's also tough when he feels he needs to be.
  5. I've also been using my Ninja for more than a year and think it's great. I'd bet it's close to as good as a Vitamix/Blendtec. I feel comfortable with the price.
  6. I bought a Ninja at Costco and can't say enough about it. It's great for making protein smoothies with ice, etc.
  7. One year ago today I was operated on. I weighed 367, had very high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and not a lot of energy. Today I weigh 175, am off of medications, etc. and feel so much better. This forum has been such a great help.

    One Year Anniversary

    Thanks so much!
  9. Best thing I've read in a long time.
  10. Not all Protein shakes or bars are created equal. I say find what works best for you. I definitely still utilize both shakes and bars, and I'm nearly a year out from surgery. I like the Premier shakes (very popular here) but I also like one scoop (half serving) of the zero carb creamy vanilla by Isopure. Quest bars have also really worked well for me; basically because they're very high in Fiber.

    350+ Sleevers?

I'm a tall guy (6'3"). I was 367 at surgery (almost a year ago) and have lost 192 lbs -- putting me at 175 for the past few weeks.
  12. I take a sugar-free cough drop here and there and they definitely help. They don't trigger hunger for me the way nuts/carbs/slider type foods do. I think it's different for each of us.

    question about extra skin

Thanks for posting the pic -- looks great!
  14. I don't think it's cheating at all. Just be careful of carbs and sugar-alcohols. Some of the sugar-free Gummy Bears and Jellybeans I've looked at have more carbs than I had expected. And the sugar alcohols can have a laxative effect...
  15. I agree with the posters about both the Premier RTD and the Isopure powder. I've been using one scoop of the Isopure zero carb vanilla (105 calories/25 grams of protein) and find that works great for me.

    Fitbit Vs Up

I've had the Fitbit Flex (precursor to the Force) for six months now and couldn't love it more (although the watch feature on the Force is a nice upgrade). It really does motivate me. I like how it syncs up with My Fitness Pal. I also really like the Walgreen's Step program.
  17. I was told that no one was ever going to spend money to fund a study on straw use and so I should do what works for me...I started using a straw a few weeks post-op and haven't had any problems. I agree (at least for me) that it is far easier to get all of my liquids in when using a straw.
  18. It's been over a year since I've had carbonated beverages, caffeine, or alcohol. It turned out to be much easier than I ever would have guessed.
  19. You can buy the diet SodaStream syrups and just mix them with regular water -- it's not the same as carbonated soda but it tastes good and quells the cravings a bit.

    No Liquids With Meal

I agree -- it definitely gets easier and becomes second nature.

    cereal

I like to have Original Fiber One once in a while. I like it for the fiber and usually mix it in with some Greek yogurt.

Fitbit vs Bodybugg vs Bodymedia vs Jawbone Up

I noticed the other day that Walmart is now carrying FitBit products - although I don't think they had the newest model.

Fitbit vs Bodybugg vs Bodymedia vs Jawbone Up

I've been using the FitBit Flex since late May and really couldn't be happier. Well, I guess I could be -- they just released a newer version that has a watch on it -- that's a small complaint though... I really like it and love how it jives with My Fitness Pal -- the two apps sync up and work really well, in my opinion.
