  1. I had my two hour post operative training last night where we went over the diet, shopping guide and what's going happen at surgery. Didn't realize how severe the food restrictions are. For the first two weeks there is no foods that are allowed to be chewed And I had no idea that you cannot have steak or pork for up to three months after your surgery. They gave me a list of of things that I should buy a GMC regarding my Liquid Protein intake and they also gave me a list of supplements that I'll need to take for the rest of my life but there is one of my hospital offers that I can say that's cheaper and equivalency to seven other types. Has anyone else received this information for going through that's also?

My dr here in Dallas is Clear Liquids three days before and after surgery.

Then it's full liquids (applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal (kinda runny) cream of wheat, creamed soups) anything that does't need to be chewed (this is for 5 weeks)

I have done everything to get to this point whats a couple more weeks, I can do it.. I know you can... I chewed a piece of gum, or my chewable Calcium and Vitamins, so I feel like I am chewing something.. Just don't swallow the gum, that wouldn't be good at all..

  2. My surgery was this past Tuesday, and I only had 3 days Clear Liquids before the surgery. No pain meds since 4am Wednesday morning. Not in any pain, but I have some tenderness where the drain tube is, but that is because my asthma is acting up and I have been coughing, been holding a pillow close to me and that helps. I didn't get the gas pains this time, PRAISE GOD. Starting Saturday I can go to full liquids (runny oatmeal, cream of wheat, soup) Tuesday I go back to the dr and have the drain removed that part scares me... I had a NG tube for the first 24hrs, it's suppose to help with nausea, that wasn't so bad removing. I was told that I can't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk.. So far so good, praying it stays this way... Wishing everyone the best!!
