Super new, hesitant, scared, but excited...
I applaud your courage and I totally understand your fears, concerns and doubts because I have them all my self! This is my 2nd go round and I still am not 100% sure but I am at least getting all the prereqs things together. Try to think of what your life will be like when healthier(telling my self this too). But it can be hard when there are more saying negative comments, don't do it (like family/friends). But continue moving forward and your new life is just around the corner.

Hiatal Hernia and VSG
I am in the process of all the things I need completed to be submitted to insurance company for approval. I had my EGD today and it revealed a hiatal hernia. The surgeon stated he could repair it when I have the VSG. Did anyone have both repaired? I am wondering what does that mean for recovery time, pain, getting back to work liquid intake.... I plan to ask him when I go for my follow up (and not under anesthesia cocktail) . So nay feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats to you! Keep up the good work and share any tips along the way. I am hoping to have surgery in March on Spring Break. Did you have an EGD before your procedure?

Pre-Op Second Thoughts
I can understand your worries. But any surgery has the "possibilty" of a complication. Just be sure and research what methods your doctor is using to prevent them. Some one mentioned blood thinners and compression hose things like that. Also research his/her complication rate. And try to decrease your worry and be prepared to move as much and as often as you can. Pary to the good Lord and it will work out. So sorry for your loss.

Hang in there. Think more about what you will be gaining, a better quality of life, less or no more meds, a new wardrobe later, not just what we may have give up.

Did you keep your surgery a secret?
Only husband knows that I am planning to have the surgery, a friend that had bypass and 1 coworker. I do plan tell parents and siblings a few days before surgery.
