    total blindside.

I can understand in a way. My husband and I got together when we were teens. I never considered myself pretty but I had guys ask me out all the time. Some would do it in front of my husband. I was young and dumb and would throw it in his face all the time and tell him I could get anyone I wanted so he better do what I wanted. When I started looking into WLS he brought all that up and asked if I was goimg to leave as soon as I was curvy again and men were asking me out again. Basically all I can do is tell him if I was going to leave I could have done it then or in the last 16 years. Being fat is not the only reason I am with him. I dont need a man to be happy and I don't have to be thin to have a man. I told him I love him and that would never cross my mind. You can only reassure him daily that you love him. Make him part of your weight loss. Eat healthy and exercise together. If he is too overweight ask him if he would like to get the surgery also so he doesn't feel left behind. Show him how much you and the kids need him. Sometimes, at least for me, its easier to write everything down in a letter. That way you aren't embarrassed to say something plus you think of things you wouldn't have talking. Its also just your thoughts without anyone elses thoughts to derail you. Maybe you can write him a heartfelt letter and tell him everything that is bothering you plus everything you love and need about him. I hope some of this helps.
  3. Puritans Pride has a digital Water bottle that makes life so much easier. It keeps track of all your Fluid intake in a 24 hour period. It is so nice to not have to add up every drink throughout the day. I just look at the end of the day at the display and put that on MFP. You can put all liquids in it as far as I know. Protein shakes may be too thick but they may work as well. They are $20 each at Puritans Pride website.

    HydraCoach Digital Water Bottle

Oh yeah, it measures in a 24 hour period then resets for the day or you can reset it manually.

    HydraCoach Digital Water Bottle

It has a long thick straw and it measures the amount of liquid you drink. It has a digital output on the outside that tells you how many ounces you drank. It is correct too. The first few time I wrote down the amount I put in and it was always right on target. It also has a little carrying handle so its easy to take walking or on the go.

    Kroger Perfect Fit Meals

For anyone trying to do a low carb/high Protein diet, whether pre or post op, these meals are heaven sent! They are in the deli area and they have 20 to 30 different varieties. They include chicken permasen, bbq chicken, beef fillet, pancakes, omelettes, fish tacos and lots more. They all include the main meat or protein, veggies, and a side like potatoes, rice, or noodles. They all vary in calories, carbs, and protein but most are about 400 calories, 20 carbs, and 40 protein. They are about 10oz each so bariatric patients can eat one throughout the day. They range from $5.50 to $8.00 each. These meals taste great. I am still on liquids but my 14 year old daughter is on a low carb/high protein diet and buys them. I have tried each of them that she has ate and you would never know they are diet foods. She eats 2 a day and stays well under her calorie goal. She also doesn't feel deprived because she is having potatoes and noodles. If a 14 year old can stay on a diet using them, anyone can. They are also awesome because it takes all the guess work out. Everything is measured out and calories, carbs, and protein is in big print on top. Also you have a great meal that takes 2 minutes to warm up. You can go to myfitnesspal and search these and it will show you all the varieties and content they have. Also, not all Krogers have these. I have been to 3 different ones and only 1 carried them. They are in black microwave trays. If you don't see them ask the deli. If they dont carry them maybe you can get them to carry them. It is so worth it.

    Kroger Perfect Fit Meals

Some have 10g of carbs, they are all different. They are all a full meal for a normal person but for us they would have to be eaten throughout the day because they are so big. 20g of carbs throughout the day is fine for me.

    OMG! What am I thinking!

Oh wait, I do have a complaint!! I had lost 9 pounds on preop diet and I have gained it all back after surgery!! I know it is just Water weight from saline but it's still there 3 days after being released! That is a little disappointing, even though expected, after going 6 days on water, Powerade, and apple juice ONLY!!

    OMG! What am I thinking!

Hey, I am great. I got home today. I am drinking just like before surgery so that's good, no dehydration worries. Well I say like before but minus the Sprites. I've been home 6 hours and I have had 3 large glasses of apple juice. I am on full liquids. I am a little confused about what that is. My doctor didn't lay it out that great. I looked up post surgery instructions and what I saw said full liquid was anything you blended up including meats and potatoes. I don't think I am ready for that, am I? If I understand right, I should be eating Soups, broths, cream of wheat, oatmeal, popsicles, Jello, pudding, Protein drinks, Water, and juices? My pain is nonexistent, I have not taken even one dose of pain meds. My only issue is I get tired quick. I have always been able to walk very long distances and not be bothered by it but now I need a break after walking upstairs to the 2nd floor of my house! It wasn't so bad in Mexico because I could sleep anytime I wanted but now I am home and my 4 year old hasn't seen me in 5 days and my goodness he is making up for it!! Other than that and not eating in several days I am great, would never know I just had surgery. Its so strange to go this long without ANY type of food and not feel hunger. I have only been drinking because of fear plus being in Mexico and everything was so heavily seasoned even soups and broths. Anyways any full liquid suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, is it okay to be drinking that much liquid?

  15. I am setting here in Tijuana Mexico scared to death. What is wrong with me that I can't lose weight on my own? This seems just crazy! I cannot believe it has come to the point of me flying (my biggest fear in life) to another country and letting them cut my stomach out (needles are my 2nd fear). Why can I not just do this on my own? This is honestly the scariest thing I have ever done. On the other hand everything has gone great so far. Our plane was early, our driver was there waiting, he pointed out sites in San Diego snd Tijuana, and the hotel is great. The only thing I would change is I wish I had taken a later flight. I landed at 10am, got to the hotel around 11, but check in time wasn't until 3. They were able to get us in a room a little after 1 though. Of course the worst part was the only thing to do during that time was to go to the restaurant. My daughter enjoyed it while I starved and 2nd guessed myself. Anyways, does this feeling of wanting to run home go away?
  16. I am a future Mexico self pay sleever. I was originally scheduled for March 9th but had to reschedule. I got extremely sick and the doctor's could not find anything wrong. I did not want to go through surgery not knowing why I was hurting and sick. I rescheduled my surgery for July 27th. In the meantime I started thinking and worrying more and more about my daughter's weight. She is 14 and been overweight for 2 years. She is 5`3 and weighs 248. She has tried to diet and exercise but has a very hard time losing weight. The doctors can't find anything to stop her from losing medically. She is starting a new school, in a new city this year after going to the same school her whole life. She is terrified of being made fun of. I also don't want her to deal with all the side effects of being overweight. I know I don't have to list the side effects on here, just think of your own personal experiences. About a month ago I contacted my doctor, Dr. Garcia, and sent him her medical info. He accepted her for surgery even though she is very young. I changed our dates to August 10th, paid her deposit, and booked the flights for us. Now, I am having second thoughts. I am terrified of taking my young daughter to another country for surgery. I don't know if I am being pro-active and stopping this before it gets out of hand or letting her give up on losing weight on her own. Then I start thinking that her life has barely started and I am forever altering her. My mind is just racing with thoughts. She is very excited about the surgery though. I need some advice from people who have had surgery, from parents, or anyone else who wants to respond.

    OMG! What am I thinking!

Elaine, Haha, LMBO. I have 3 kids. One was born in the hospital ER without a drop of pain meds before or after so it has to be easier than that. I started planning this in February and was originally scheduled in March but got really sick. So I have read EVERYTHING about this surgery. I thought I was 101% ready and sure but I guess everyone starts second guessing themselves at this point.

Oh yeah she is fine. She is just wanting to get out and sight see. I think she is actually happy she is waiting to try the other diet first. She is also glad to see me go thru it first.
