  1. Had second fill yesterday under flouroscope. 2.6cc total in my 4cc band Today I did nothing but PB everything I had. coffee I could feel being held up and 1 piece of cheese would not go down. Stayed on mostly liquids and have felt "stuck" all day. Should I give it a few days and see if it gets better? Should I stay on liquids for a few days? HELP
  2. Usually a "PB" is food that has not gone through the stoma yet. It is "stuck" food. You can just cough and it comes back up!
  3. Hi Again I have an appt. with Dr. Bertha in two weeks. Two months ago he suggested I see a nutritionist and I have not. I have made efforts but to no avail. I won't get into excuses but to date I have not gone. I want a fill. I feel that is what will help me get motivated again, a new start per say. How do I go about dicussing this with Dr. Bertha. I am 9 months out and 40 lbs down. THanks
  4. Highest weight was 330 on surgery Day 1/24/05 Now 288 It works but you have to work too! First few months were quick weightloss and it has now slowed down I am at my second plateau where I keep going up and down 2 lbs. Good luck
  5. Hi All Well I am down about 42 lbs! Feeling really happy about that but at last visit in July Dr Bertha suggested I go to nutritionist and go back to him in a month to evaluate my loss. Well now it is September - I have not gone to the nutritionist yet and am stuck at 42 lbs. I keep going up a couple of lbs and then losing it. I joined Curves and never go (maybe once a week) I am not eaing so great and feel I need a fill (only had one). I am afraid to go back to Dr. Bertha!! HELP
  6. When I came back from Florida June 5th I was 298lbs. I joined Curves, but have not been going religiously like I should, and although this is not the best advice, I only eat once a day. I have coffee in the am and then I either have a good lunch or good dinner, throughout the day I may snack a little bit and that is it.
  7. Yipee! I am down 40.5 lbs!!! Happy, Happy, Happy!!!
  8. I am 6 months out and have lost 38 lbs. I had one fill in April and I was supposed to go see Dr. Bertha one month after. Unfortunately I never made it and yesterday was my first visit to see him since February. Good news I am 16 lbs lighter since then, bad new he was not happy that I never made my fill follow-up. He said he cannot tell if the fill worked or not, when I lost the weight, etc... Then I was lectured on how I am not eating the right things. I am only eating "band-friendly" foods and not the Protein I am supposed to be eating. No fill for me - he wants me to see the nutrionist and go back to him in a month. Now I do feel like the majority of my loss happened in the beggining my recently I have lost 6 lbs - I have had a few up and down moments but the I am happy with my progress. He actually told me that I could be one of those people who fail with the band!! Gosh - I thought I was doing good! Oh and he thinks that my fill is just about right. I have a very hard time with meat and bread and it gets stuck so he says that is restriction Lauren
  9. Bread?? Ouch is all I can say - it is a definate sticker!! I try sometimes but ultimately end up regretting it with a pb.
  10. now I am feeling out of control. I did join Curves this week but my eating is not so great. Need some encouragement please Lauren
  11. Surgery was 1/24/05 and I have been stuck at 297.5-299.5 for a while now. I had a stomach virus yesterday and I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 292.5!! I hope it counts and is not just being sick! Everyone has been telling me that I have lost more weight and I kept saying that I wish my scale would say it! Also a few fellow wls people have told me that this is how weight loss works for some of us - you will hit a plateau and then boom - a loss! Thanks
  12. Surgery was 1/24/05 and I have lost 34 lbs. I keep struggling going up and down 1-2 lbs. Can you still lose inches even if the scale is not moving and you are not really exercising (meaning my only real exercise is chasing after my son!) I am not eating alot - some of the stuff I eat is not the best for me - but still not as much as I used to Still having pb's so I know I have restriction just disappointed - my fill was 4/14/05 and I have only lost 4 lbs (that keep going up and down) Help
  13. I miss taking a bite out of a big sandwich - the deli kind. I also miss steak. I have tried just about everything and bread and most meats are a no, no for me.
  14. Because that is what I have lost since surgery (1/24/05) and I think I should have lost more. I had one fill 2 weeks ago and since then l lost about 4 lbs (in the first few days post fill) nothing lost since then. Help
  15. I tend to be able to eat more at night then during the day - I get "stuck" alot during the day time but at dinner and after I can eat and eat! I have had one fill 2 weeks ago - could I need another? I have only lost 4 lbs since my fill and and my scale is stuck at 296.5!!! I am trying to drink my Water - not as much as I should though.
  16. Should I stop when I feel "stuck"? I feel like I can eat more than I should but I do get stuck at about every meal - is that my signal??
  17. The only exercise I get is running after my 18 month old son!! I have lose about 35 lbs since surgery 1/24/05. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and lost a quick 5 lbs but now I have stalled again. I know that I have to start moving!!
  18. I have all 3x pants from Old Navy and they are big!! I decided to try the 2X (22-24) and the jeans fit. I am down 34.5 lbs since surgery (1/24/05) and was feeling bad because I only lost a few lbs since my first fill (4/14/05).
  19. Yikes - everything I swallow is painful - I get that stuck feeling and it takes a while before it goes away. I did liquids yesterday and today am trying soft foods but it hurts!! I had my fill under flouro and the barium went through fine - I had a bit of a stay and then it went down. I had 1.6 ccs putin my 4 cc band Will this feeling go away??
  20. I have been banded since January 24 2005 and have lost 31 lbs without a fill. I have my first fill this week. I have not really changed that much except I eat pretty much what I want and only eat small amounts. Isn't that the point of this surgery?? I am not dieting and because of the band I cannot really eat bread, Pasta, etc... I have learned to chew and drink lots of Water. I do not make bad choices and am having my Protein shake on the am to keep up with my protein (cannot tolerate meat so well) I was happy before but I hated being overweight - that is what I want to change and that is what is happening.
  21. I was banded on 1/24/05 and am having first fill on 4/15. I have lost 31 lbs to date.
  22. Yes I get it a few times a week - It happens when I do not chew well enough or I am eating too fast. It is restriction but I still need a fill as I can eat more than I would like.
  23. I know how you feel. I was banded on 1/24/05 and have lost 31 lbs so far. I have a tiny bit of restriction (some things get stuck) but not nearly enough. I can eat pretty much anything but do stay away from bread, sandwiches, stuff like that. I do still have my sweets but I do try to make good choices. I missed my first fill due to snow but am scheduled again for 4/15!! Good luck you are doing great Lauren
  24. The first one is the night before surgery (yuck!!) 330lbs The second is now -31lbs What a difference 31 lbs can make!! Lauren banded 1/24/05 first fill tommorrow!!
