  1. Normal to be scared but I was too excited to be scared. Just remember that you have been waiting for this day. It will go quickly although you may not sleep tonight. I spent the day before reading everything I had from my doctor- I have a manual that outlines everything. I went on this website and read everything I could and then.. I just knew it would be ok. I had no pain afterwards, no nausea. Piece of cake!
  2. I am prone to cold sores so I have a prescription for Val Trax. I havent needed it so far, but the tablets are big and I wouldn't have been able to swallow them early on. I also have Zovirax and that is a salve - prescription also. That might be a good alternative.
  3. What inspiration! Thanks for sharing.
  4. You can do this. The sleeve is your tool but your head will determine your success. We all have to come to grips with food addictions but we can overcome them. Stay focussed, follow your doctors instructions and show us what you can do.
  5. Lisa's! You have done so great even with your problems. Congrats for staying with it and moving forward!
  6. Welcome to the sleeved side!!! I hope you have an easy time post- op. I did.
  7. I am on Medicare with a Blue Cross PPO in Michigan and it was covered except for my $500 copay
  8. You have found the best place for support. Good Luck with your journey!
  9. Oops. I didn't look at the OP date.
  10. Congratulations! Glad you feel as good as you look!
  11. I did have to remove my acrylic nails. They told me when they called to give my surgery time. I wasn't sure and didn't ask if I had to take all or just the pointer where they check your oxygen. I hadn't had them off for ten yrs so it was probably good to give my nails a rest. I didn't put them back on for 3 wks but that was my choice.
  12. Hi! I live in Howell and had my surgery at Henry Ford in Detroit on March 11. I have lost 70 lbs and feel great! Welcome!
  13. Hang in there. It's normal to be excited, scared, overwhelmed, giddy, and you may be questioning your decision. You are prepared, you've done your research, now enjoy the weekend and look at all the before and after pictures on VST! Before you know it, you will be sleeved and you will have a healthier life ahead! Ann
  14. I am glad you posted here as I have learned a little more about Ramadan. I am enjoying the conversation. There is another similar thread as well. Ann
  15. I made it as well, but I am only 4 mos out. I have the 100 posts- that qualified me I guess. Ann
  16. Shawna, I am 4 mos out and still can only get my protein in. I am between 600-700 calories, about 35 carbs.
  17. Before surgery Mach 11, I as on 12 units insulin and 1000 mg Metformin twice a day with an A1c of about 6. I am on the same amt of Metformin but down to 6 units of insulin with an A1C of 5. I have to track my blood sugar 2x a day for two weeks and if its below 90, I am off my insulin. I am not below 90 every day yet so it might be another couple of weeks before I go off.
  18. Good for you! You stuck up for yourself!
