  1. Thank you all for your tips, advice and encouragement. I have bookmarked the websites. I am going to look into the weight loss surgery cookbook for dummies. It sounds right up my alley, lol. I am practing sipping Water and chewing 30 times before swallowing. Not working out so much for me, lol. After chewing that many times I get so bored and don't even finish my food. I guess that is a good thing, lol. I normally drink water a reusable plastic cup with a straw. I recently started drinking from a glass so that I could practice sipping. I understand what you mean. It took me 4 hours to finish a glass of water because I would forget about it. Still a work in progress but I know I will push through. Thank you all so very much.
  2. I submitted FMLA paperwork to my doctor who is supposed to complete the paper work and fax it to the HR dept at my job. Not sure how long that will take. I'm also taking off 2 weeks.

  4. Hi! I'm 28 living in a north west suburb of Chicago. I am scheduled to be sleeved on Feb 25th. I feel as if I have been on a diet my entire life. I've spent thousands on diets, personal trainers, devices you name it. My deductible for the surgery is only $275, could have saved so much money if I wasn't so hesitiant in the past. I am nervous and excitied all at the same time. To the one that was dimissed by their primary, I was dismissed by my psychologist for cancelling an appointment 22 hours in advance. I missed the 24 hour cut off by two hours. She is charaging me a $65 fee, pretty much the amount my insurance would have paid for the visit. I'm very hurt by this because I felt a connection and like I ws making progress. They aer supposed to be a christian based non-profit organization, but wont show compassion! I'm at a disadvantage now because having a psychologist was a tool in place for me to help with emotional, stress and over eating both pre and post-op. Now I have to tell my life story to another doctor, lol. My primary doctor has no clue that I'm having surgery. I guess I will let her know. What are you all doing to prepare for pre and post-op? Have any of you found and good books/guides.cookbooks for life after weightloss surgery? I'm excitied for all of us!!
  5. I feel the exact same way. When I got the call that the surgery was approved I was full of fear instead of excitiment. All I could think about is all the foods I wouldn't be able to have, missing out on social events, not drinking and of course every possible complication. What brought me back to reality is thinking about all of the things I will be able to do and how I would feel after weight loss. All the foods I'm not going to be able to have is what got me to this point in the first place. My surgery is 2/25 I'm still nervous but more so concerned about having everything in place for post-op. Good luck to you and to all of those going through the same thing.
