  1. :wink2: I was admitted into the hospital over-night for pnumonia (sp). Doing ok they pumped heavy antibiotics in me and I am home. I have to tell you all, they gave me a diabetic diet since I WAS taking 2 shots a day and 4 pills a day for my diabeties before getting the band last June. Let me warn you if you go into the hospital carry your own food. I was laughing at the menu choices here is a sample:

    Breakfast - you could pick - 1 meat - 2 fats and 4 carbs

    lunch - 2 meats - 2 fats and 6 carbs

    dinner - 2 meats - 2 fats and 4-6 carbs.

They don't get it do they... The carbs is what is making everyone diabetics!!! My diet was a 2000 calorie diabetic diet:lol:

So I did not eat any of the food they brought me while I was ther. I had mine brought in from the local drive thru's. It was much healthier than theres.

  2. I was banded on 6-27-07 so I am a little more than one year out. I lost all of my weight the first 5 months. Mybody has been at the same weight give or take a couple of pounds since then. I have 6.26 in my 10cc band and it seems like no matter what I do the scale does not move. Is there anyone else out there that has had this problem?? I am skinny everywhere except my belly and it is mostly skin. I started @ 238 and am at 168-170.

I am not complaining, I am very very pleased just wondered is this the norm??

Help me get back on track everyone. I have been doing so good and my sister is having her band surgery in 2 weeks. I have got to be a role model HELP

  4. I eat 4 prunes per day. Two in the morning 2 at night. It you but the Sun Sweet pitted prunes they are great. You feel like you are cheating cause they have a sweet taste. The individually wrapped ones are great to slip in your purse. Works wonders. Give it 2-3 days to start off.

  5. Not only heard of it BUT I am the cancer patient with the band!! I have Follicular Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. No cure but treatable. I went thru chemo the entire time. I have me next treatment on Monday. I will Celebrate by bandiversery next month one year on Jaune 27th 2007 was my rebirth. I was on 12 pills and 2 shots a day for diabeties, blood pressure, etc etc. Now 1 pill per day well plus a Vitamin.

Do not let cancer hold you back. The way I see it. Once you are diagnosed with Cancer that is your permission to do everything you have always wanted to do.. 70 pounds later and still loving my band!!

  6. Hey everyone I am Dr Schmitts Patient. I had the band entered into my life on June 27, 2007. Best thing I ever did. Lost 70 pounds in 5 months. Kinda at a stand still right now. My sister is on the list to have the surgery June 10th. I can tell you that Neomi answers emails better than phone calls. Or call her in the mornings like 8-30 - 9 when the office is not so busy. Do not give up. They do make you do everything. sleep study, nutrician class, ekg etc. I was a self pay and was very glad to know that they still made me go thru all of this for my safety!! Go get it done, and schedule your surgery!

  7. WOW you have done great!!! I am right there with you.. I have not lost anything in about 3-4 months. But unlike you I have not been totally committed!!! I eat most things just less of it, don't exercise and need a fill. On top of that I stopped coming on the board were my support was at. When I was losing I stayed on this board every day.. We need that support. Keep me posted and let me know how you are doing, but I can tell you with the amount you have lost, girl you should be so proud of yourself!!

  8. Sorry I am not sure. I was a self pay and mine was done totally different. My sister has just finished her 6 months diet with her pcp. She has turned all info over to Dr Schmitt and is waiting to hear ferom the insurnace co. Good luck. Don't quit ! Whatever you have to do to get this done do it!! It is wonderful

  9. Hey everyone. It has been a long time since I was on the site. I have been so busy and I think feeling ashamed cause you all tell it like it is:biggrin: I was banded on 7-27-07. have lost 70 lbs yeah, however lately I have been eating just to be eating! Not hungry most of the time, just eat. I think I am bored but trying to get back on track. Honestly I think I have been worried about some testing and chemo since it was time for that today. Chemo is over for 3 month and I have to get bacl on track. How do I keep myself from eating when I am not hungry? Please help!

  10. I was banded on Wednesday June 27th. I was done as an out patient and went to the motel several hours after surgery. (I live 4 hours away) The next morning Thursday I took a dose of my pain medicine and we went home. I was a little sore for 1 day. On Friday morning I was driving. I have not taken any more pain meds since the day after surgery. The only problem I had for a couple of days was trying to get in the required amount of Protein. Got that worked out. I worked ever day last week, drove 4 hours on Friday to get staples removed and was put on mushie food. I walk 1-1-1/2 miles every morning. I do what the doctors tell me to do.

The surgery for me was a breeze. The liquid stage was a breeze. The mushie stage so far is a breeze. The are a breeze because I am committed to making this work. If somewhere down the line it does not work, I will deal with it then. YOU have to be mentally preparred for all of this!

This board is by far the best one I have found and believe me I have been on the net for months researching lap band. Look at ALL of the threads and keep going back and asking questions. These are the ones that have been through it, they can give you the real statistics!!

  11. :) Each day since being banded I have gone through thoughts of what I can do since I am not eating right now. Well I read something yesterday that stuck in my mind and I want to try and live by since being banded.

"every day is a choice. We are the ones that choose how our day is going to be. WE can make this band work. We could also make it fail but WE have to understand that it is OUR choice! No one forced food down our throats, no one told us to lie around and not exercise. They were all our choices! So every morning WE have to look in the mirror and start out WL journey on a positive note and set our day off right!!!:clap2::clap2:

I hope everyone has a GREAT day tomorrow. I am already setting my mood:whoo:
