  1. My surgery is on March 18th. I wanted to fly out of Tulsa, but it was too expensive. Instead I'm flying out of Dallas. I got round-trip tickets for $380. I bought them about two weeks ago
  2. Thanks moosewife. That's good to know

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

Class of 96 here! I'm getting sleeved exactly one month from today A little nervous, buy more excited than anything. I how to be normal sized by my 20 year reunion....and who knows? Maybe even have a date/relationship by then. This weekend I was looking through some old CDs. I ended up listening to the Singles soundtrack and another old favorite of mine called No Alternative. Miss the 90s.
  4. You're looking great! I hope I can match your success. I'm getting sleeved in one month
  5. My coordinator also said an i.d. and a birth certificate will work fine. I am just hoping someone here can back that up with personal experience. (We've been on the phone with the passport office and the state records department, and even by paying those crazy fees for expediting the forms, it's unlikely the documents will return in time.)
  6. Sometimes I wish I could move my day closer I'm getting so impatient. but the 18th falls during my spring break, so it's the best fit for me.
  7. Hi. I'll be getting sleeved with Garcia on the 18th

  11. Who was your surgeon? I'm being sleeved on March 18th in Mexico, and aftercare back in the US is my greatest concern right now.

Hey Melody. I'm from Oklahoma too. Have you head your surgery yet? I'm traveling to Tijuana in March
  15. Hey Jay, I'm seeing Garcia about twelve days after you. It'd be great to hear updates.

    passport card

I can pretty much echo everything that's been said. I got my passport card at the county clerk's office. It cost $55. I brought a passport photo (taken at Walgreens for $10.99) and my birth certificate with me. I had to pay by check; they wouldn't accept cash. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I applied. I'm hoping I get it back within the next couple weeks. You'll also have to fill out an application that asks you things like your parents' date/location of birth, etc.

    American Airlines

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, upgrading seats isn't an option for me. But, I did take your advice of changing to aisle seats for both my friend and me. It's a 3-3 plane, so my mom and I will have to share a row with someone else. Also requested wheelchair assistance for the return flight.
  20. Have any of you flown American Airlines? What were your experiences like? I'm 5'8", 350. BMI of around 51. Hope to be around 330-340 by time for the surgery. I've never flown before. The main reason is because I've been afraid I won't be able to fit into an airplane seat and might be embarrassed or forced to buy a second seat. (I even turned down an all-expenses-paid trip to Seattle last year for this very reason.) I'm actually more anxious about the plane ride than the surgery itself. I'll be flying American Airlines on Sun March 17th from Dallas to San Diego, and then back to Dallas on Fri March 22nd. I'll be sitting next to my mother and another friend who will also be having the sleeve in Mexico. We'll be the only 3 in our row. I'm sure we'll be squeezed in tightly and probably uncomfortable, but I won't be too embarrassed about encroaching into their space. I'm also sure I'll have to ask for a seatbelt extender. I'm just hoping it buckles without too much trouble. So, were any of you around my size when flying? What kind of trouble -- if any -- did you have? Any tips? I read that someone recommended asking for wheelchair assistance at the airport post-surgery, but I'm worried I might be too large/heavy to fit in their wheelchair. haha....I'll be so glad when I drop this weight.

    Dr. Fernando Garcia

Are things like apple juice and cranberry juice acceptable on the pre-diet clear liquids phase? Or are they too sugary?
  23. Best of luck to you, whatwillB. Dr. Garcia will also be my surgeon in March, so I'm looking forward to your updates!
  24. Hey schavez, you'll be there about a week before me, so hopefully you can fill me in on all the details! Good luck
