Hi, I had a healthy baby last April while I was band. BIG NOTE TO THINK ABOUT SHE WAS MY 4TH CHILD AND ALL WERE BORN VIA C-SECTION I NEVER DIALATED WITH MY FIRST CHILD PAST 3 AFTER 22 OR 23 HOURS IN LABOR SO C-SECTION IT WAS SO MY OB JUST DID THE OTHERS C-SECTION WE JUST PICKED A DATE AND DID THEM NOW TO THE POINT SORRY I JUST LOST MY BAND DUE TO EROSION IN JAN. 06 AFTER HAVING IT FOR 2.5 YEARS AT MY LAST POST CHECK UP FROM BAND REMOVAL THE NURSE WAS READING OVER THE CHART AND SHE STATED THAT THE DR. HAD WROTE A NOTE THAT EROSION (MAY) HAVE BEEN DUE TO C-SECTION Just a quick run down my band had been perfect all along everything was great during pregnancy did not need a unfill just perfect only gained 2lbs just great about 2 weeks out from birth my port site old incision filled with fuild it got hot and red I went to my primary DR. she cut it alittle and drained it and sent it off for culture no infection that was the first part of May 05 it was all down hill from there it never healed up it has been draining dime size fuild all of these months sorry to get off topic just be very careful if for some reason you need a c-section make sure to keep close eye go see your band Dr. I really wish I had went to see him in the first place and not even to my primary he is 3 hours away and she is 10 mins. Hi, Thank you. I just wish I would have been closer to goal before all of this happened. I don't wish that I did not have my baby but maybe wish that she would have came after removal. I have to wonder if my c-section site draining had anything to do with it all. I guess I will never know. I think after Im feeling better I will check out LA weight loss I have done WW on and off my whole life i will not be doing that. I might take a loan out on my house and have rny done by Dr. Tersigini... Tracey

Hi DeLarla, My band was placed on 10-30-03 by Dr. Lopez . No he did not remove my band a Dr. Tersigini in Cos Bay Oregon removed my band. He said that it was the worse he had ever seen. I asked him if he could tell why of coasre we both know that there is no cut and dry answer why byt he said that there a stitch in a funny place under the band that he did not know why it was there??? I lost about a 100lbs I really had no problems until last April 05 I had a baby via c-section and that is when it all started my port site filled with fluid I went to my primary Dr. she cit it open drained it sent it off to lab for culture no ifection was dedected but it would not heal back and forth to the Dr. back to lab for more test no infection finally I went to see a Dr. Neal in Olympia Washington what a mistake that was, he was nice Dr. but the office was a big mess my insurance had agreed to pay for partial cover of the surgery I guess I got ahead of my self at the time Dr. Neal looked at my wound under floro and said that my port was flipped and it needed to be moved and then the sight would heal that was in the first par tof Aug. Well I waited and waited to here back from them 2 weeks 3 weeks finally I called to see what my part would be all I got was a run around it was hard to figure out on and on finally after messing around with them for 4 and half months I called Dr. Tersigini office and I seen him in Dec. right agter christmas the first opening for endo was Monday Jan. 22nd so that is were it all came about. I ahd seen Dr. Tersigini for a fill about 18 months ago and I really did not care for his bed side manner but at this point I felt like he was the only one to help me. I really did not think I had eroded or maybe I did not want to think that I had he did the endo first thing Monday and said it has to come out first thing Tuesday that I could not wait another day it was so bad. I wish for my health I would have just seen him in Aug. He was very nice I would recomend him to anyone to see. I really wish I had know of him before I went to MX. I found out about him about 2 months later. His outpaitent cost for band placing is 13,000 not all that much more than what I paid in MX. including air fair and all. Oh well nothing I can do about it now. De Larla how many days did it hurt to swallow after your surgery? I feel like I have a golf ball in my throat they all the tubes in until Weds. afternoon because really wanted time for the hole to heal. Pretty scarey. Thank you, tracey

Hi, I just had my band removed due to erosion on Tuesday. I feel like HELL I was in the hospital for 3 days the Dr. said it was the worst he had ever seen. He almost had to due RNY just to save my life. I will know next week if my patch is holding on the esphecus (sp) I did a swallow test on Weds. no leaks so far so good. I can not eat food for 14 days only drink liquid. I can hardly swallow as it is anyway. I did not know how to start a thread so I just posted on yours Dalarla. Take care everyone. Tracey

Hi, 40,000 for port removal is insane. I may have to have my port removed moved fix something and Im having it done in Oregon and Im self pay and they said that it would be 1500.00 to 2000.00. I think most of the Dr. around here charge for placement somewhere between 13,000 to 20,000 for self pay and that includes hospital also well surgery centers. I have paid probably 12,000 altogether now not including gas or interest on my credit card. I have been told that it would be about the same to have it removed as placed minus the cost of the band. Hi, I was wondering what you were feeling that made you decide to have the endo? Were having reflux? I have read some of your post. I know you are a Lopez paitent as I am also. I just wish that there was more out there about erision. I have a endo scheduled for the 23 rd of Jan. it was 2 years in Oct. since my banding. Just wondering what kind of problems you were having to make you think you were eroded. thank you, Tracey

HI, I don't think that the band is made to work like that. I would stay with what you have a work with it. Enjoy yourself and not worry about what you can or can not eat. I think you will come home alot happier. JMO. Tracey

Hi, I have been band for over 2 years now and for the last week or so I have this funny taste in my mouth it taste like metal or tin? Sometimes I have a funny feeling in the back of my mouth. Hard to explain. I have not had anything coming up like acid or anything no problem laying down or anything like that. Has anyone had anything like that before?? IS IT ACID REFLUX?? I have a flipped port and Im in the process of getting that fixed my insurance has agreed to pay for part of the surgery but not all. I was a self pay in MX. Thank you Tracey

Hi, I have not had the port fixed yet. I was hoping to go to see a Dr. Neal in Washington but he want 5000.00 to do it and I can go back to MX and have it done for 1800 or so. My band was placed by Dr. Lopez in Oct.30,03. Can hardly believe it has been almost 2 years. Tracey ps I do not have pain.

Hi, I had a baby last April 19th. My port came free from the wall it was stiched to and now is totally flipped and I have to have surgery to have it fixed. I was from being PG because I had a fill in Sept. 2004 right before I found out I was PG and everything was fine well I went a couple months ago to have a fill and they could not due it. Hi, You might have problems with your gallblader I have had some problems with gallstones they are really bad feels almost like a heart attach but I also have had some stomach problems just feels like you are going to throw up but don't try not eating any grease butter and no dairy for a few meals and see if you feel better I know that when I eat to much dairy or grease that I get that sick feeling and it last for several hours then goes away. Sometime comes back the next time I eat the things like grease dairy anf other times it does not. When I had a stone stuck it was hell had to go to the ER I really thought I was having a heartache. It passed and I was better about 8 hours later I was PG so I could not have the surgery. I think next month I will have it take out . Take care Tracey

Hi NyKee, I had something like that after surgery and I had to have shot of steriodes to get it to go down. I don't know if you can get your Dr. to give it to you or not. I was put in the hospital for hydra. and they gave it to me. You will be ther in a few days if you can't even keep your own saliva down that is what happened to me do something fast see Dr. Eubanks or Kelly for a unfill or other wise you might make your band slip with all the problems and Im sure you don't want that to happen. I or should I say that my CPA wrote all of my surgery bills last year and travel hotel everything! She said it was legal and my surgery was done in MX. Tracey
