  1. I am going to OCC in TJ, Mexico. It is an international center of excellence. I am going because even though my insurance does pay for it, I don't qualify in the United States because my BMI is still too low. I am obese baby, isn't that enough .... Mary
  2. you need to be eating Protein first, then vegies, then fruit according to every book, post that I have been reading. Change your soft foods to protein based or at the minimum vegie based. Mary
  3. I ordered the sample packet of unjury. I have tried the chicken and unflavored yet, but I like the chocolate and vanilla. The strawberry not so much. Mary
  4. I am at the hotel and chicken broth has been ordered. BTW, you can't buy water at the San Diego hotel near the baggage area. I was thirsty on my drive, wishing I had bought another bottle at LAX. Mary

  11. Oh, I am sorry you are going through this. Remember her reaction is because she loves you, she is not as educated about the surgery or the MX practitioners. I had a similar reaction from my dog club friends. In the end, they will support me. They just are afraid for me. Mary
  12. Well, I am on my layover in LAX. I called my credit card company lies letting them know I will be in Mexico. I also found out why my layover is so long, the 3 flights before mine have all been over booked. I had a heck of time getting to sleep last night ... can you say excited, nervous, anxious. And, not being able to eat in the airport has been a killer. I am hungry, and yes I have an injury shake. I sure can't wait until that hunger hormone has been removed from my body. Mary
  13. Why in the world would they keep this hidden? Mary
  14. I know I have mentioned this before that my brother, who is Dr., had his VSG done in Mexico. He had complications (leak) post-surgery. IMO and his wife's too, he probably caused it because he lifted his carry on bags and put them in the overhead without thinking on his way home. Yes, we all know that is a big no no. But, I doubt he participated on a forum like this before hand. Anyhow, he said that after his surgery, his hospital looked in offering some blanket rate on these types of surgeries. What he found is that the complication rates (even in the US) are lower than reality as they only use the stats for a set time limit. I think he said a month post surgery. But, that with this surgery complications really should be evaluated at a 6 month period. He said at the 6 month period it is more like a 90% success rate without complications. Two plus years out he is glad he did it, even though he went through hell for about 6-8 weeks after the surgery. He is healthier than he has been in years. And, he did not discourage me at all from doing it. He just gave me a broader more accurate set of facts for which I could base my decision. Mary
  15. Ditto. I emailed them and they were really fast at getting back with me. I had a call within 1 hour from Carolyn and they emailed me the prices. Mary
  16. Good Luck, I fly out tomorrow morning to MX to have mine done on Tuesday. It is just hitting me that this is really going to happen. Mary
  17. Before you take aleve, check with your doctor. It is an NSAID and they supposedly irritate your stomach and are on the do not take list from my doctor. Mary
