Hi,
As I am sure most of us have been on several diets and have a variety of things left over from previous diets. I have a couple of containers of Protein powder that I love the taste: Beverly Ultimate Muscle Protein. Here are the stats. Will it work for VSG lifestyle?
Calories: 120
Cal from Fat: 30
Total Fat: 3.5
Cholestrol: 5mg
Sodium: 200 mg
Potassium: 310mg
Total Carb: 4 g
Diet Fiber: 1 g
Sugar: 0g
Protein: 20 g
Calcium: 200mg
Iron: 1 mg
Magnesium 120mg
(milk, protein isolate, Calcium caseinate, whey protein concentrate, egg white, L-arginine, L-glutaminem, L-isolecucine, L-leucine, L-valine)
Thank you in advance for your input.

Oh, check this thread out. So many people who like us with low BMIs are voicing no regrets.

You can do this. Go check out all of the success stories on here. It is just kind of scary right now as well you are having major surgery and taking on a new lifestyle.

My weight is 192, with a BMI of 32. They told me that I didn't have to lose weight. I am going to do the Protein shake diet this week. Started today. Well, I just had some Soup too. I will do the clear liquids next weekend. I am not looking forward to that.
Good luck, please post your thoughts and experience.

Hi,
I am a little over a week away from flying to MX for my surgery. I travel for work every week. It is about an hour flight, each way. I keep my main bag at the hotel. It has all of my main work clothes, toiletries, makeup, etc. Thus, I won't have a heavy bag to lift or carry. I just take "undies" back and forth and my laptop. I have a small bullet like blender at the work site. I currently go to whole foods every week and buy food for the week for lunch and dinner. Thus, I am used to not eating for the most part at restaurants. But, I do have semi-required dinners when the hot shots come to town or we are celebrating a milestone. In fact, we have one the first week I am back from surgery. I think I am going to try and skip this first one, but I can't do that every time. I have purchased the Dr's recommended Vitamins and Protein powder. I have a set in my desk and a set at my apartment. I purchased broth for both locations.
I have told my immediate team that I am getting this surgery. In fact one of my team mates did the Y thing about a year ago. She lives closer to the work site and drove back and forth every week. She also convinced them to let her stay at an apartment. I really don't want to stay at an apartment as I don't want another place to clean. (call me lazy). Anyhow, my immediate colleagues know I will be eating weird and can't drink alcohol. But, the larger team doesn't know that I know of. I am sure they will find out eventually.
Also, there are three of us that have gone together and we have a personal trainer that comes to the hotel twice a week. I told him about the surgery. I told him I probably couldn't do anything my first week back except walk. I am hoping that the next week I can start doing his workouts, but just making sure i am not lifting ... yes, I will talk to the Dr. in MX to find out more details. Any experiences with that would be helpful.
What else can I do to make this VSG lifestyle work for me. Any and all tips are welcome.

I am scheduled for the 29th. I fly to San Diego on the 28th. I am getting it down at the OCC in MX. I am both nervous and excited. Since I have a lower BMI, I am only required to do Clear Liquids just 2 days prior, but I am doing a liquid diet this week to kind of get mentally ready for the next phase of my life.

Good question. My brother who is a dr went to MX. He developed a complication. He had to fight with the insurance to get it covered. He has his hosp CEO and a politician go to bat for him. He was flown out of His home state to a top notch med center to get fixed and recover. Please contact your ins cpany to
Find out if they will cover. Or determine how to get back to MX to fix. After doing my homework, talking with my brother I am choosing to go forward.

Yeah, I found the thread for me. I have a BMI of 32. I have been researching this for about a year. I am really excited to see people have such great results with lower BMIs and lbs to lose. I am scheduled for 1/29/2013 with Dr. Ortiz / OCC. I am getting very nervous and I know I will have lots of questions. I hope I can reach out to you all for support.

OK, then it will be almond milk or chrystal light. Thank you for the information. Maybe some ice cubes.
